What do you like best about Jitsi?

I appreciate that Jitsi is open-source and privacy-focused. The end-to-end encryption gives me peace of mind for sensitive discussions. Being able to self-host the platform (if needed) or use the hosted version without tracking is a significant advantage over big-tech competitors. The audio quality is generally crisp and clear. What do you dislike about Jitsi?

The mobile application experience can be a bit hit-or-miss compared to the desktop browser experience. Occasionally, screen sharing can cause a lag in the video feed if the internet connection isn't perfect. I would also love to see better built-in whiteboard tools for collaboration during meetings. It is a free alternative, easy to integrate and implement on your own website, with the possibility to customize the functions available in the interface and with servers available to connect your meetings.

The software uses quite a lot of resources from the client devices that connect to the call, which can cause them to slow down or not provide a good experience on devices with low specifications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jitsi solving and how is that benefiting you?

We discovered Jitsi during the pandemic, a time when mandatory confinement made work difficult for many industries, including the development of educational activities.

In this context, Jitsi provided us with a viable alternative for conducting remote classes, through the scheduling of meetings for students in each classroom and its different configuration options, which allowed for its safe and reliable use in a school environment.
