# What are the best solutions for encrypted internal communications?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">I’ve been trying to understand what are the best solutions for encrypted internal communications, especially in cases where teams need stronger security but can’t afford to slow down everyday communication.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">What I keep coming back to is how this balance actually plays out in day-to-day use. It’s one thing for a tool to offer strong encryption, but it’s another for that to fit naturally into how teams already work without adding extra friction. In a lot of cases, communication tools end up being used constantly throughout the day, so even small changes in how they work can have a noticeable impact.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">As I’ve been exploring different options, it also feels like “secure communication” can mean slightly different things depending on the team. For some, it’s about compliance and enterprise-grade controls. For others, it’s more about having visibility and confidence in how data is handled.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">From what I’ve been seeing across tools in the<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/business-instant-messaging"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/business-instant-messaging">business instant messaging software</a> space:</p><ul>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/webex-app/reviews"><strong>Webex App</strong></a> – Often used in enterprise environments where secure communication is important, especially with messaging closely connected to meetings and calls.</li>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/mattermost/reviews"><strong>Mattermost</strong></a> – Offers more control over data and deployment, which can be valuable for teams with specific security or infrastructure preferences.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/rocket-chat/reviews"><strong>Rocket.Chat</strong></a> – Focuses on flexibility and data ownership, giving teams options in how they manage and control their communication environments.</li>
</ul><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">The more I look into this, the more it feels like the conversation goes beyond just having encryption in place. It starts to depend on how teams think about control, flexibility, and how communication fits into their broader workflows.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">I’d be really interested to hear how others have approached this in practice. When security becomes a bigger priority, what tends to shape that decision most, and how does it influence the way your team communicates over time?</p>
