The screening is just as good as other tools and it's the only tool attempting to screen foundations/companies. I've never had a technical issue with iWave and they communicate when they're down for scheduled maintenance well in advance. I trust the data provided by iWave more than some of the other tools and use it nearly every day. It's quite easy to use and to teach others to use. We do not integrate it with our CRM, but I'm excited to do so when we switch CRMs in the future. **What do you dislike about iWave?** I have not had great experience with customer service. The sales reps are pushy and do not do a great job of communicating desired improvements back to the company. Billing is often a trial, since our organization does not allow for auto-renewal. It has all the basics needed like charitable AND political philanthropy, job history and employer descriptions, revenue and other company details, real estate that can be searched by address or name, and info for other countries so I can find something about international prospects. And the design is really smooth and easy to use and follow. The information is very clear. This really is my favorite source. **What do you dislike about iWave?** Nothing really. The only other thing I think would be neat is if they could tell you about properties that used to be in the person's name but they since sold it. But I just search old addresses and look in iWave's transaction section and find it with ease. **What problems is iWave solving and how is that benefiting you?** It solves finding political donations that match my person because it gives other identifying information such as the address so I can cross check that it is my person. It's robust and easily sortable by a number of very important factors. It also is a unique aspect of the platform, and performs better than similar initiatives provided by other parties. For example, we used NOZA before for donations data, and iWave is far superior. **What do you dislike about iWave?** Least helpful is that iWave's screening results are unchangeable, even after changing the information within each profile. Typically, there are plenty of deletions and additions for accuracy on each profile, yet it cannot change the subsequent data for the screenings. Meaning post-verification overall reporting is unhelpful and the ability to prioritize based on the screening data isn't helpful either. **What problems is iWave solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's a time-saver because it's comprehensive. Great data, great support, user interface and experience could be better **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fund-Raising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2024 **What do you like best about iWave?** The data is reliably recent and accurate - I generally feel confident that I am providing good contact (especially email addresses) and charitable giving information along to my stakeholders, and I see more recent giving in iWave than in most of our other resources. It's usually the first or second resource I consult when I'm researching a person or company. It makes my job easier every day. I love the advanced donation search options. Super helpful for finding donors with very specific interests. As of now, we do not really use the ratings but that may change once we do an institution screening. Account support has been great. Our rep has been very responsive and helpful when our team has had questions or needed training. **What do you dislike about iWave?** I recently had to research a multi-location company with a name that could also be a person's name (think Smith Robinson company). Even though I specifically did an institution 360 search AND specified a state, the results included dozens to hundereds of charitable giving records for individuals with combinations/variations of the names across the US,along with dozens of variations on the company name (which I know is a data entry issue, but it can get overwhelming). Using quotation marks didn't help. Far too many variations for filtering results to be useful. I was surprised it didn't just supress non-institution results. I find it hard to navigate - as I click through results, sometimes I see tabs, sometimes I have to back-arrow to get to my original search. The "section headings" at the top are confusing and not useful - for example, I just did a 360 search. In the main results, I clicked on Charitable Donations. But if I want to look at another section, I can't just click on the heading up top while I have Donations open - all that does is tell me about the data provided in that section. I have to go back away from Donations, then click in the main results to see Wealth Indicators or something else. I spend a lot of time clicking around to revisit pages I've already looked at. I would love to have everything I open in a tab that doesn't go away until I close it. MORE SORTING AND FILTERING OPTIONS FOR COMPANY EMPLOYEES, PLEASE! I see that Executives are now separated out, but it's just a list of names and titles - no locations, and if it is a large company or you need a specific job title (say, marketing manager in your geographic area), there is not a way to sort/filter/search the list of hundreds. **What problems is iWave solving and how is that benefiting you?** I can easily get good contact information for our fundraisers, which helps them reach out in a timely manner and makes me look like a rock star. Charitable giving info is reliable, so helps us determine target asks, and whether they are a worthwhile prospect. We've been able to get past gate keepers and go right to the decisions makers. **What do you dislike about iWave?** -For individuals, I've noticed that it doesn't always pull in all the phone numbers when building the iWave report. -It doesn't always show all the donations a person has made. I can tell when looking up individuals that have given to our organization and I don't see all the donations listed. Seems to be behind acouple years. **What problems is iWave solving and how is that benefiting you?** For individual donors, we are finding more up-to-date contact info. For corporate donors, we are finding ocntact info for the people who make decisions and getting past the gatekeepers. It's easy to find their giving history and data. Plus, you can track down names and contact information for foundations and companies of interest. It's so easy to use. The customer support is very responsive and always willing to help explain how best to use the system. I also like their ongoing webinar series that offers tips on how best to use iWave in fundraising. **What do you dislike about iWave?** It relies on outside data for screening, so if there are multiple people with the same name, it can skew the screening results. **What problems is iWave solving and how is that benefiting you?** iWave helps with researching prospective funders--including foundations and companies. It helps us to find names and contact information at foundations and companies we are prospecting. It also helps us to review individual prospects to identify those with greatest capacity and affinity. I also find it very beneficial that live webinars are scheduled whenever something new is launched. These allow us to ask questions in real time and use the information and demo to teach others on our team empowering them to check out the newly implemented features. We also appreciate that scoring integrates with Salesforce for a quick check on a donor/prospect without leaving our CRM. **What do you dislike about iWave?** There isn't anything I specifically dislike in iWave. I would like to see in the future the abillity to see more information in the integrated scores with Salesforce, so our gift officers don't have to leave the CRM to view more. I would also like to see the prospecting feature "beefed up" more, so to speak, so we have even more options for cold prospects. **What problems is iWave solving and how is that benefiting you?** As the only research on my philanthropy team (with it being a smaller portion of my fulltime role), it's great to have a platform that empowers our gift officers to preliminarily research prospects before elevating them to me for a profile. We tend to send full profile requests to our research consultants to compile, but we must have a resource platform for our use as well. We used to have two but the other became unreliable over the years; I was adament that we let go of that one and stick with iWave, despite pushback. With tools I have used in the past, verifying the data proved difficult due to "proprietary sources" which diminished trust in the research provided. Since using iWave the accuracy of the research completed is easily verifiable, which builds confidence among my team. **What do you dislike about iWave?** I have experienced a steep learning curve among my staff. Understanding the basics like the 360 search is very easy, but there is so much power when you begin to look at the different data sources individually. Demonstrating the value and helping people understand the capabilities gained by leveraging the different data sources directly through the platform has been a challenge. This is usually due to the prospect having a common name. It will give them a high capacity rating initially until I am able to fact check their profile. This is time consuming and frustrating at times. I also love that they include the pdf of the source when they include donations so I can always go back to the original source to verify without having to worry about the link being broken. I use iWave every day cause it has so many different features, like getting a prospect's work email or phone number, who they donated to, and what foundation they were a director for. **What do you dislike about iWave?** I guess when you click on a donation to get more info, it doesn't add additional info or link it to other profiles with the same name. It also would be cool to include what corporate companies they are directors of. I like that it pulls information from all available sources including nonprofit annual reports. I also like that it can create profiles for individuals and is able to pretty accurately predict when the record may not match. I like that when doing a wealth screen, iWave produces capacity ratings based on different indicators including political giving and real estate. There are also lots of helpful pages with instructions and definitions of terms on the help website. **What do you dislike about iWave?** One thing I wish iWave had was an easier way to select and export donation history - I would like to be able to export it into an excel sheet rather than a word document. I find it particularly useful for identifying real estate holdings, especially for prospects in real estate management and development, as well sa for exporting lists of securities transactions when trying to get a sense of how much a prospect has netted from stock dispositions over the years. **What do you dislike about iWave?** Sometimes the data is not always 100% fresh; real estate, in particular, should be double checked with primary sources (ie. assessment and deeds databases) to be sure nothing has changed, though to be fair that's just good practice with any kind of information. **What problems is iWave solving and how is that benefiting you?** IWave is a very good one-size-fits-all resource that can benefit shops of all sizes, but especially at smaller organizations where there are budget constraints.
