"Well rounded platform with some great features"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

Ibexa has transitioned from a focus on publishing to a broader digital experience, and with this shift, they have introduced several valuable features for discovering and creating content. The addition of publication calendars and embedding tools greatly simplifies the work of content managers. The role-based system for managing both workflow and content permissions is especially helpful for larger organisations or in situations where requirements must be reviewed or approved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

From an engineering perspective, the extensibility offered is valuable, although there are certain areas where support for this is lacking. To address these gaps, there is a noticeable emphasis on integrating with external services. In my view, many DXPs and CMSs have shifted toward a headless, service-based model, which I believe is generally a better direction. This is especially relevant when considering Ibexa's price point, as it positions the product more toward a specialised, niche market of B2B ecommerce. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A customizable DXP without limits, a high-performance DXP, a clean technical foundation"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

An ultra-customizable DXP, the content is organized in a tree structure and there is no limit to the creation of content types. The code adheres to Symfony "standards," making it a scalable and sustainable product. It is easy to add specific business logic. The version upgrade processes are well-established, allowing the stack to be kept up to date. There are no strong dependencies on external components that would block upgrades. The structure (content type, evolution of role and rights policies) can be modified by migration scripts, allowing it to evolve in an industrial manner. Its ability to handle high traffic while maintaining continuous content update capability is thanks to the fine caching strategy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

A complex skill development, even though it is increasingly accessible for Symfony developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A robust CMS that fits our needs"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

As a newbie to Ibexa, I like how easy and intuitive it is to work in. Time from learning to actual producing pages is short. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

When adding language versions of components and pages, it can get complex fast, but this is the same for all CMSes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lars Eirik Rønning of Ibexa DXP

Thank you so much for your feedback. Very happy to hear that you find it be a productive tool. Indeed adding languages does make it a bit more complex, but also very powerful. Having said that we are always interested in understanding your use case to see if there are ways to simplify.

"Flexible and powerful enterprise DXP on Symfony bases"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

Ibexa DXP is a very flexible foundation for our future business initiatives. Its open architecture based on one of the widely used PHP Frameworks makes it easy for our internal Engineering Team to adapt and extend the Application according to our taste and our needs.

The integrated Page Builder supports our editors to build and immediately review product landing pages according to our design standards without sacrificing the headless support to provide the same data to other client applications.

Last but not least: The support from Ibexa is outstanding! We are constantly in contact with different people of Ibexa that are continuously helping us finding the best solutions possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

To implement Ibexa DXP properly you need the help of a third party agency. This in itself is not so much an issue but having a powerful inhouse Engineering Team collaborating with an external team is at least challenging to manage.

Some aspects of the system are surprisingly underdeveloped. Although the main architecture is impressive and the application has all the main features that you need on an enterprise level there are some areas that need some more time to fully reach their potential. "Powerful and Flexible DXP for The Enterprise"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

Content architecture flexibility for building complex content models. Popular platforms provide only rigid structures for content modeling, but Ibexa provides custom content types with relationships between them.

The ability to build multi-brand, multi-site, multi-language, content inheritance, complex taxonomies, and custom field types.

The content repository's versioning and translation capabilities to manage global websites for complex content requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

Ibexa has a steep learning curve, especially for those developers who don't have access to expert guidance or structured training. Getting comfortable with Ibexa’s architecture requires guidance from expert training. The documentation could also have better real-world examples to help new developers.

The admin UI feels dated compared to other CMS and is not very intuitive for content authors. The Page Builder is powerful, but it lacks some out-of-the-box features and extensibility that most popular CMSs offer.

The caching system is difficult to implement when self-hosting. It requires a technical understanding to deploy and optimize properly, it is more straightforward on Ibexa Cloud deployments, which offer a much more hands-off experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

Many steps when adding items to different components. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lars Eirik Rønning of Ibexa DXP

Thank you so much for your feedback. Very happy to hear that you find Ibexa to be a good tool for you. We are eager to learn more about the "dislike" part as well to further improve.

"A CMS that grows with us – Ibexa as a strong partner for our global B2B communication"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

Ibexa CMS is particularly impressive due to its strong multisite and multilingual functionality. For our international B2B company, which operates 38 websites in 28 languages, the platform offers centralized, efficient management and a consistent user experience across all markets – a clear competitive advantage.

And even with a small team, we are able to manage this multitude of websites and languages. The team praises the simple user interface compared to the old system. It's easy to train, easy to understand, and very easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

This point is rather due to the complexity of the requirements: The initial implementation and adaptation to our complex business processes requires a great deal of effort and specific expertise. Therefore, close collaboration with experienced Ibexa partners was and remains essential for international rollouts.

The external, third-party-managed hosting was "a bit bumpy" during the initial go-lives. However, together with our partners and support, we were able to manage it well.

The tree structure is somewhat inflexible in places; we need cues like icons as information to quickly identify content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lars Eirik Rønning of Ibexa DXP

Hello Christina,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We really appreciate it.

We are thrilled that you find Ibexa DXP to working well for you and we are very happy to hear that you were able to sort of the bumps you did experience with regards to hosting your site.

I noticed your comment on lacking icons to find the right type of content in your content tree. I wanted to bring to your attention (in case you have not yet seen it) that developers can customize this following: https://doc.ibexa.co/en/latest/administration/back_office/back_office_elements/custom_icons/#customize-content-type-icons. Although we cannot provide these icons directly it is very much prepared for you to add your own domain specific icons. Do reach out if you have any further questions.

"Flexible, powerful and stable DxP"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

The Ibexa content model, permission system and templating/content-extraction are it's strong suites. It is a plaform built for organizations that have needs for growth, stability and performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

It is a platform best suited for professional or skilled developers. It applies many good development principles and CMS concepts which may be challenging for new developers at first. Also performance tuning the websites can require different skill sets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Complex contribution, learning curve, CMS features lack agility"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

The elements that seem very interesting to me are:

- automation via Ibexa Connect

- various integrations aimed at optimizing marketing processes and personalizing the user journey.

Unfortunately, these integrations are not within the scope of our needs at the moment.

Other appreciated elements used in the context of our project:

- Site context (in multisite)

- Multi-positioning

- Page builder (even if it can be improved) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

- back office interface:

- multilingual: some shortcomings noted

- optimization of the default language for a multilingual and multisite site (our first site being in French, if the default language of a site in the ecosystem is not French, it creates some translation difficulties for the interface regardless of the language the user has chosen).

- contributed content does not display in the language chosen by the user but in the initial language of the skeleton

- display and ordering of object lists in the back office: difficult to find the settings and especially once found, persistence of these settings (they reset with each browser refresh)

- absence or complexity of translating interface strings, especially during custom development.

- contribution:

- lack of block library functionality + reusable blocks

- content tree:

- on multisites, facilitate access to essential modules (media, taxonomy...)

- more possibilities for creating elements on the fly rather than having to go back through the content tree, displaying content lists, ordering them....

- media:

- media contribution process a bit complex --> often have to go back through the content tree (when we are on multisites)

- sorely lacking a search field for images in the media section

- saving and persistence of configs (export and import system for configs like on Drupal for example)

- Forms:

- no conditional fields

- phone field (with country prefix selection)

- security:

- a native CSP/HSTS section would be welcome

- non-exhaustive list Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Software suitable for all types of business needs with a modern CMS, a complete DXP"
What do you like best about Ibexa DXP?

Its versatility and adaptability to my rather complex needs. It has never failed, and I am only limited by my imagination. The richness and breadth of features, as well as the addition of options, enhance the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ibexa DXP?

The internal cost of version upgrades and the complexity of certain functions that remain quite "standard" on other CMSs in the market. For example, the addition of blocks for contribution that need to be developed by agencies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lars Eirik Rønning of Ibexa DXP

Thank you so much for you review Edward.

Knowing you have been a trusting customer for a long time it really means a lot to hear that you find our offering as valuable as we think it is. We are working hard to simplify the upgrade path and have fortunately been able to overcome some of the challenge we used to have (LTS Updates) . A lot of these improvements stem from valuable insights from customers like yourself.

The way you have been able to really take advantage of the DXP offering a hyper personalized solution is very inspiring for us and hopefully for others who want to step up their game with personalized experiences. We will keep pushing to give an even better experience going forward!
