**What do you like best about GitLab?**

That provides us with code management, issue tracker, code review option, containers, and a lot more which has made our task easy. And even allows functioning with cloud platforms. So it is a good product

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

It was quite complex for me as a beginner, User interface should improve from time to time, it's not that good as per the demand, and paid support assistance is not a good thing in my suggestions.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

That it provides good DevOps platforms with various features, plus helps to track bugs in the code, and helps the team to connect on the same project and work together so the task is achieved properly.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

I have used Gitlab most of the time. It helps a lot to create project productively and easily. I have created lots of project with the help of Gitlab. It make the development so easy. Best tool for company and students.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

The only problem is domain of Gitlab is only associated with project. They should expand it more.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gitlab is so secure. It helps me to contribute in my project efficiently and productively. My whole team use Gitlab for projects.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

GitLab seamlessly combines version management using git (code versioning, repository management, branch tracking, merge requests, forks etc.) with a Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipeline. I like its overall UI/UX as well. It does its pretty well. I have been using it for over 4 years now and it has gotten better!

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

Jenkins integration can be improved. I also had some issues while adding my SSH key to GitLab since it didn't work on multiple tries. That process can be streamlined better.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GitLab helps our team to develop software comprehensively and meticulously by seamlessly taking care of CI/CD and version management. The UI/UX is great in being minimalist and seems very intuitive as well. I'd like a dark mode feature as well :)

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

Gitlab is a very powerful tool for building your CI/CD pipelines. It allows your organization to do faster Development and Deployment. It also integrates beautifully with multiple tools which allow you to expand your tool capabilities and features. Overall it is a blessing in the Software development world.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

As your project gets bigger and more complex, your team will eventually generate more builds, where your organization may face multiple runner issues and delays. All the menus in Gitlab can be intimidating to beginners. Other than that, it is a great product.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Faster and Automatic Deployment (CD)
2. Faster and efficient Testing (CT)
3. It makes it easier to collaborate with team members.
4. Branching is easier in Gitlab.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

From my experience, GitLab is an All-in-One Platform. GitLab is allowing my teams to work on multiple features or bug fixes and merge their changes easily. As well as GitLab provides features like code reviews, issue tracking, and merge requests.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

Nowadays, in the latest version of GitLab, some validation like one repository can only have five flock users is required. Upgrading to new versions, especially major releases, may require careful planning, and it is very hard to update GitLab.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From my experience, GitLab allows teams to access, track, and manage code from a single location after authentication. However, after the new update, they have increased the pricing for the plans.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

All the code written by the team is collaborated on GitLab. Its interface is also very user friendly. All members work simultaneously, and development becomes fast. Changes are tracked easily too.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

All is going good so far, sometimes, issues come during merge. When there is conflict, and difference in 2 files needs to be seen, it sometimes stops working, or gives wrong results. This is 1 minor issue which was observed twice only.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multiple people working on code creates issues in duplicacy and conflicts. GitLab makes working concurrently on common repository pretty easy. Everybody is able to check the changes made by others, so tracking is also maintained.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

GitLab has impressive and highly valued features. Some of the features that I like the most in GitLab are:

Open-source: GitLab is open-source, which means that users have access to the source code and can customize and extend the platform to meet their specific needs.

Comprehensive platform: GitLab offers a comprehensive suite of tools and features for version control, continuous integration, testing, deployment, monitoring, and collaboration, all within a single platform.

Powerful version control: GitLab's version control system provides robust branching and merging capabilities, making it easy for teams to collaborate and manage complex codebases.

Continuous integration and deployment: GitLab's built-in CI/CD pipelines automate the build, test, and deployment process, making it faster and more efficient.

Collaboration: GitLab's collaboration tools, such as issue tracking, code review, and wiki, make it easy for teams to communicate, share knowledge, and work together effectively.

Security: GitLab offers a wide range of security features, including two-factor authentication, vulnerability scanning, and access controls, ensuring that code and data are safe and secure.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

Some of the areas where I found GitLab less helpful are:

Complexity: GitLab can be overwhelming for users who are new to version control or who prefer a simpler platform. The large number of features and options can make it challenging to navigate and use effectively.

Performance issues: GitLab's performance can suffer when managing large codebases or when multiple users are working on the same project simultaneously. This can lead to slower load times, sluggish navigation, and other performance-related issues.

Documentation: While GitLab provides extensive documentation, I found it difficult to locate specific information and lacking in certain areas. Additionally, the documentation may not always be up-to-date with the latest features or changes.

Limited third-party integrations: While GitLab provides integrations with a number of third-party tools and services, I found that it lacks integration with certain tools they use or prefer.

Support: While GitLab provides support to its users, I found that the level of support is insufficient, particularly for complex or advanced use cases.

These are just some minor issues, in my opinion. Overall, Gitlab is a powerful tool and an effective platform for software development and collaboration

I would like in the GitLab is it would be easier for everyone in the team to work together smoothly and complete their software application in a good quality. It tells us what to complete pending in the software.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

I would dislike in the GitLab is difficulty and complex when I'm using as a new joiner. I would have faced in this some performance issues and bugs in some versions of GiLab.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GitLab will solve the integrity in the software and it makes program's better communication and collaboration to work around in the team. It has more security and quality maintenance of the application code. GitLab will benefit more software and tools which give better quality to the application.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

Including difficulty control, ironing boards and goals. A number of powerful code checking features that enable collaboration and feedback between staff members. Helps preserve program stability and reliability by saving time and effort in the creation or research work procedure. It excels in program version management because it allows easy control of modifications, branch management and aggregation of efforts.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

Although it can support various combinations, it would be wonderful if they added more tools and services. It sometimes has difficulties in execution in case of a large job or repository load. The interface can sometimes be confusing, especially for novice users. It would be wonderful if they could make the navigation simpler and easier, so people could get started quickly without feeling confused.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GitLab offers version control over the program; collaboration abilities for peer review and documentation capabilities for study institutions. It supports me in managing my code base, collaborating correctly, automating research tasks, and maintaining complete research documentation, which increases productivity and research profits. GitLab is excellent for peer collaboration, automated test runs and version monitoring in software development projects. However, it may be less viable for individual situations, unscheduled projects, or areas with limited technical skills or expertise.

GitLab is an open-source platform, version control, allows to manage source code efficiently. It supports branching, merging, and code history tracking. Supports comment on code changes, suggest modifications, includes security scanning tools for detecting vulnerabilities in code and dependencies.

Maintenance is the difficult part, I believe there's always a risk of finding recent security vulnerabilities. It's crucial to stay informed about security updates and apply patches accordingly.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

The best part for me personally about Gitlab Is the ease of use. As someone in the software industry, who commits to multiple repositories, Gitlab provides a one-stop, easy to use and understand solution, making it very easy and convenient for me to navigate through code bases.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

While rare in occurrence, the Gitlab servers were sometimes unavailable. I also sporadically faced slow checkouts for large codebases.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most important feature is Gitlab pipelines. Setting up automated test reviews and builds has made the workflow in my organization extremely seamless and efficient.

I have used 2 source code repos, Gitlab and Github. I really like both but I would say if you want to work with UI github will score better compared to Gitlab, also Github's co-pilot is amazing which is currently missing from Gitlab (as per my knowledge)

Gitlab is the most reliable tool for version control and storing the source code. I like its CI/CD integration feature which allows the team to do integration and deployment in real-time for all changes. I also like the way it manages merge requests by providing a feature to restrict it with a specific person's review

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

I like the pipelines that you can configure to block or allow Merge Requests. It also has a feature to block the button "Merge" in a Merge Request when you add a dependent Merge Request.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

I generally like it, but I personally prefer GitHub. I use GitLab because I have to do it in my work. Apart from it, GitLab fails from time to time, so the pipelines don't run or I cannot merge my work for some minutes or hours.

The company can store the repositories and allow the developers to clone them and create merge requests into important branches. We can enable code owners so some developers will have to approve some specific merge requests that involve their code.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

In my opinion, Gitlab is for both highly technical engineers and non technical ones as well. The capability to be able to write code and commit the changes from the UI and as well as using the CLI provides the flexibility for adhoc code management as well as full fledged application codes that can be used to setup automated build process, integrate with oither tools for building a contineous CI/CG pipeline. It is easy to use the CLI commands in other automated scripts as well. In a nutshell, it is a great tool to store, manage and setup contneous delivery as deemed fit.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

It would be nice to metrics to indicate how a build is progress, how it was triggered and how long did it take to complete etc. Metrics always help to understand the maturity of team in enhancing their DevOps pipeline

Code storage, management, handling, building and deployment. In short it manages the code life cycle from the creation stage to the deployment of the Application.

It has efficient project management tools for tracking development tasks, encouraging collaboration between teams. Users receive private repository access according to individual permissions and restricted organization settings. Its continuous integration/deployment feature allows developers to find errors quickly and deploy changes securely in the production environment, making processes streamlined.

Few of the things I don't like in Gitlab is it's user interface because it is confusing and hard to use. Furthermore, the storage space available for projects is inadequate for larger tasks or multiple projects. Moreover, there are not many third-party integrations, making it difficult to keep data in sync across multiple services. Lastly, automation tools are missing; this hinders code review, testing, and release management from being automated.

Gitlab has more security and DevOps options. The built in runners for build testing before merges is really handy. I also like all the integrations that can be used.

The billing setup was really clunky (as far as seats calculations) that lacked transparency and tools to see what was happening (billing wise). However, lately its getting better.

The best part of GitLab is its community edition, and almost everything can be achieved using the open-source version itself. If you are a startup, it is a great savior.

Some users find GitLab to be complex and difficult to set up and configure, and they release new versions a lot, keeping it updated is a big challenge especially when you are managing thousands of users. Performance is not so great.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

As a data engineer, data pipelines need to be updated without stopping servers and deploying manually. GitLab is the first platform used by us in the team for CI-CD functionality.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

Most of the features are up to date and worked fine. Quick updates made the pipelines a little slow sometimes. Overall good experience while deployment and implementation of any type of pipelines.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an open-source git repository linked with CICD functions for orchestration purposes. This tool made the work simple for developers and DevOps personnel to deploy pipelines quickly and correctly.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

Can merge code easily from UI & make a pull request easily. Good User Interface.

Search Feature can be improved. It does not give search feature like GitHub.

Good ui, so I have to spend less time on merge & create PR etc, rather than I give that time into logical think & actual coding.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

GitLab allows you to host your own instances, and is highly customizable. The web interface is straightforward and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

Nothing major. Keep improving code analysis features, such as references to function definitions!

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use our own instance of GitLab to host some of our code. We have some great integrations with it, including CI and bot helpers. We run CI on our own servers!

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

What I most like about Gitlab is the CI/CD pipeline to create and handle my project. I used Gitlab to store my source code and develop the site with my team as well.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

Gitlab does not indicate the percentage and what tasks perform in the CI/CD pipeline. GitLab UI is a little bit confusing for the nontechnical person.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gitlab is solving the problem of continuous integration and continuous delivery of the project code and this tool provides some extra automation techniques. I have used this tool for the last 2 years and it's very beneficial for me to handle the project.

**What do you like best about GitLab?**

The best feature about GitLab apart from version controlling and storing code in different repositories is Auto DevOps and its integration with various other services and tools like Docker registries, Jenkins, etc., which helps users to set up best practices DevOps methodologies easily.

**What do you dislike about GitLab?**

GitLab provides a wide range of integrations and services, but upgrading GitLab from one version to another stable version is very difficult. This is where GitLab can improve. Even a user cannot upgrade from one version to another; instead, they have to upgrade using an upgrade path, which is tedious.

**What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apart from version controlling, GitLab is benefiting me in implementing DevOps practices easily. We can easily set up Auto DevOps using the gitlab-ci.yaml file and implement different stages like SCR, dockerization, etc., which makes the continuous integration process easy and automated.
