"A good OCR converter"

What do you like best?

Currently the format of scanned documents is one of the most used in all companies to reduce costs on paper, although there are many programs that allow us to manage this type of files are very few that allow us to convert scanned documents to text. FreeOCR is an application that helps us in the task of that conversion, because it takes the scanned document and transforms it into editable text so that the user can handle it in an easier way. This conversion is very fast and simple and without hardly the intervention of the user, this does not mean that it is 100% good, according to my experience FreeOCR has a success rate in the conversion of the scanned documents approximately 70-80%.

This helps us in the task of not having to transcribe those documents in their entirety, but only some paragraphs or simply giving them the format we think is necessary and converting these documents into perfectly legible Word files or other text editors.

What do you dislike?

The success rate in the conversion of the file to text is approximately 70-80%, which means having to review the document in its entirety and compare with the source to verify the missing text

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I recommend the use of this software because it is free and does not consume resources in your system, besides the benefit of the time saved when converting scanned documents into text is invaluable

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It helps me to speed up the transcription time for each of the scanned documents that are required to pass to text, this is very important since time = Money. So in some way I reduce effort and costs.

"OCR and scanning functions in the same tool"

What do you like best?

FreeOCR is a free and easy application to install on your computer's hard drive. The executable file (.exe) barely occupies 10.7 MB after being downloaded. It is amazing the OCR operation that this application makes on scanned texts both in image format (tiff, jpg, png, among others) and in pdf format. To understand how FreeOCR operates, it must be taken into account that the application window is divided into 2 halves. In general, the application allows you to add a scanned document in the left half of the application. Followed and after activating the OCR option, the tool extracts the data, to immediately present them as editable text (processed with OCR), in the right half of the application window. The resulting text can be downloaded into a Word file, in RTF format, or loaded into the Windows clipboard. The OCR process is very fast and intuitive. Another function that includes this application is to interact with a scanner connected to the PC via USB port. After scanning the document, this is presented in the left half of the application, to then apply the OCR process or save it as an image .jpg.

What do you dislike?

I do not see so far something that I dislike or any comment like as negative of this application.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

FreeOCR is a free and easy learning application that allows you to extract data from scanned documents in PDF or image format easily and quickly. You can also operate a scanner. It is a highly recommended tool to evaluate and apply.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

FreeOCR is a tool that I use both to scan documents through a scanner equipment (for example, HP Deskjet) and to extract data from previously scanned files (medical records and reports, spreadsheets, invoices, formats, etc.) for various purposes.
