Every user I’ve worked with has been encouraging, and I’ve met some really diverse and interesting people along the way. I also love having the option to choose between 25-, 50-, and 75-minute sessions. The simplicity of the app is what makes it so powerful. It isn’t overly flashy, but the community is genuinely supportive. People help with onboarding and support one another, which makes getting started feel easy and seamless. The pricing is fair, and there’s a great free version too. Overall, this app works perfectly for what I need it to do—body-doubling encouragement right when I need it. **What do you dislike about Focusmate?** My main frustration with the app is not with the app itself, but rather when other users do not show up for the session without canceling the session. **What problems is Focusmate solving and how is that benefiting you?** Focusmate helps solve my biggest issue: What to work on and for how long. When I come into my sessions and my partner asks what I am working on, I need to have an answer ready. It's a huge key to being productive --- and working this way has unlocked a new level of potential for me. It also helps me dive deeper into thinking tasks that I love to ignore! ### 2. Over the years I have tried every time management + productivity tip out there... after an ADHD diagnosis a year ago, it's starting to make sense why the traditional advice just doesn't do it for me consistently. After the FIRST session on this platform I knew this was it for me!! The closest I've come to staying this on-track, in focused work sessions, is with Ritalin. And I'm not making any medical claims of course but this genuinely works BETTER for me than that. 👀 There's something about having to tell a total stranger whether you worked on what you said you would. Seeing their focused expression in a moment of my own boredom or desire to wiggle out of the rest of the time. It's gentle and positive accountability. I will keep using this app as long as they let me!!! **What do you dislike about Focusmate?** A few times when I've booked at very odd times during quieter periods when fewer users are online (usually if I'm starting at a :15 or :45 after the hour time slot, and especially if I do so a minute or two after the session's already started) then I haven't gotten any match. But when I book in advance I think I've always been matched. It's hard to think of anything else I dislike. The platform design is super simple, pleasant, and helps you use it without distractions. **What problems is Focusmate solving and how is that benefiting you?** Being able to actually put time toward my highest priorities (and the tasks that bore/bug me the most) ### 3. It keeps you focused and makes it easy to get work done. **What do you dislike about Focusmate?** The only issues I've had is every once in a while your paired partner will miss. I also wish that the prompt to list what you are working on when scheduling your session were more obvious. **What problems is Focusmate solving and how is that benefiting you?** FocusMate isn't a meeting management tool. It pairs you with somebody and then you both work on your own projects. It is a productivity and focus tool. ### 4. While it isn't a social hour it does all a little bit of connecting with people from all walks of life. **What do you dislike about Focusmate?** You can't meet up with specific members if you enjoyed working with someone. Some of the rules about moving away from the video are kind of strange. **Recommendations to others considering Focusmate:** It's a great tool to have some sort of people connection while working within the confines of your personal space. Everyone I've had a meeting with was interesting and focused on their task at hand. **What problems is Focusmate solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am an extrovert and I work alone a lot.
