Also, whenever a person moved offices I had to manually make a change to a VISIO file and recreate the necessary files. This was also becoming tedious as the process would generate non-functional javascript files that I had to be careful not to copy over lest more features would cease to work. ### 3. Entering a Unique Reference ID doesn't make it searchable, so it's better to use the Notes section, which is searchable. The same is true of the Departments field, which also isn't searchable. It's better to use the Area function instead. There is no reason to use the Unique Reference ID or the Department's field as a result of this. Additionally, the Departments field can result in multiple of the same department. For example, if I type in "Clinic," this creates a new department. If I type in "clinic," lowercase, it creates a new department. There also appears to be no way to delete these repeat departments. **What problems is Floor Plan Mapper solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have 55 sites across our organization, and mapping them involved the use of Adobe Acrobat, which is not a suitable platform for the endeavor, resulting in lag during map creation, especially with sites that had 50+ workstations. This is also benefiting our IT Field team, as they can respond more quickly to users who need support or replacement equipment instead of waiting for confirmation from the user on their precise location. I'm hoping that making Floor Plan Mapper accessible via our SharePoint page will further encourage users to refrain from moving equipment without our involvement, as the map shows the value in keeping equipment where it is. ### 4. It allows the user more free will in what they use the program for compared to other programs of a similar nature. It's cost-effective. You can also download data/get reports from the information you input and the maps you create. You are able to create icons yourself if the program doesn't have one that you need. **What do you dislike about Floor Plan Mapper?** When you delete a desk with an assigned employee, it removes the employee instead of keeping them in the system and unassigning them from the deleted desk. Adding new icons is relatively simple, but you have to mess with the sizing quite a bit, which can be frustrating. I wish that when you uploaded the PDF floor plans, the system could recognize rooms/room numbers; that would make things a lot easier for what I am doing. **What problems is Floor Plan Mapper solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have none that I've needed to report, so this doesn't apply to me. ### 5. The cost of the product is definitely equal to what we are receiving. This is difficult when an employee has more than workspace at various offices. Printing the maps is also incredibly difficult. Print View does display all the needed information but formatting text sizes, WHAT to actually display, etc can be a bit of a pain. In our environment, we have multiple domains and needed to add an additional LDAP connection. This required making a few modifications to the PHP code and testing to ensure it worked correctly. Once syncing with Microsoft is enabled, some of the functions for editing employee desk placement becomes disabled, so you have to turn off syncing, make the change, then re-enable.
