"Flexera - Great Visibility Across Complex IT Environments"
4.5/5
What do you like best about FlexNet Manager?

What I like best about FlexNet Manager is the level of detail and visibility it provides across a large IT environment. It can bring inventory data from many different sources into one place and help you understand what software and hardware you actually have, how it is being used, and how it impacts licensing.

It is a very powerful tool, especially for complex environments with multiple inventory sources and different licensing requirements. Once properly configured, it provides a level of detail that is difficult to get from other tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FlexNet Manager?

What I dislike most is that troubleshooting can sometimes be difficult. When something does not work as expected, it is not always clear where the issue is coming from, especially when multiple inventory sources and integrations are involved. Some areas also require manual maintenance that can become challenging in large environments. Better visibility into how data is processed and easier troubleshooting tools would make the product much easier to manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One Tool for all your SAM needs"
4/5
What do you like best about FlexNet Manager?

It provides a single interface for everything I need related to the SAM solution. The standout for me is the comprehensive discovery and inventory, paired with industry-leading reconciliation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FlexNet Manager?

Overall, Flexnet Manager’s look and feel comes across as a bit outdated compared to its cloud version. There’s definitely room to improve the interface so it feels more modern, polished, and refined. Along with the addition of AI intelligence which is demand of the new world Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Even after the upgrade there is some issue with the agent compatibility for some linux machines, all other agents work fine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust SAM Tool with Room for Improvement"
5/5
What do you like best about FlexNet Manager?

I use FlexNet Manager for various SAM activities, including license compliance, license optimization, and inventory reports. It gives me better visibility into the customer environment and helps the customer better understand their IT landscape. I appreciate that it's very flexible and robust, supporting a lot of technologies on the server side. Additionally, it provides me with a lot of information on Oracle products, which helps me with Oracle audits and shortens the audit time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FlexNet Manager?

I find the inventory scheduling options lacking as I would like multiple schedule times. Additionally, the initial setup is a bit complicated due to the various steps involved before implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FlexNet Manager?

I feel that with the latest release for Flexnet Manager for Engineering application 2026 R1, it has really improved in providing near real time visibility over concurrent licensing and reduced reliance on batch based reporting. "Great SAM tool for Oracle DB inventory with sometimes lackluster support"
3.5/5
What do you like best about FlexNet Manager?

FlexNet Manager is one of the best tools in the market when it comes to Software Asset Management. They offer a wide range of capabilities that can be a dream for a software license manager, if the tool is properly maintained. The reporting features are good, but customization is rather difficult.

Our company is mainly using FlexNet Manager for Oracle database inventory and it is doing a great job there (although it has to be noted that inventory in cloud environments is rather difficult / limited).

Container inventory is also rather limited and for example does not offer the deep Oracle database scanning that the regular agent is offering.

Overall I would recommend the use of FlexNet Manager, especially if the users main environment is still on-prem based. If you are a company with a lot of cloud assets, Flexera One might be the better solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FlexNet Manager?

Maintaining the tool can be quite difficult and definitely needs some technical expertise / admin knowledge (however it has to be said, that all SAM tools I have used have the same or similar issues).

FlexNet Manager is basically the legacy product from Flexera. If you want the newest features and more capabilities like SaaS discovery, you need to switch to Flexera One.

The support of Flexera can be difficult. Sometimes tickets get quick updates and you can have calls with the support agents to fix issues. Sometimes tickets take what feels like forever and you need to escalate within Flexera. However I do feel that the support has improved vs. the past years.

It feels like suggestions for improvements or customer specific problems are not a priority for Flexera (we feel that their focus is on the top spenders; if you are not part of this group, support in such cases is very limited).

Also the customer management / account management at Flexera needs to be improved. For years we did not have a direct contact person which makes it difficult to address those customer specific issues (I do think this is probably also a consequence of their size as they are one of the few remaining providers in the market). "Helps in Managing Licenses and Optimizing Software Costs"
5/5
What do you like best about FlexNet Manager?

FlexNet Manager Suite makes it easier to track and manage software licenses across the organization. I like how it gives a clear view of usage and compliance, which helps avoid unnecessary costs or risks. The reporting features are also helpful for making informed decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FlexNet Manager?

The setup and initial learning curve can be a bit challenging, especially for new users. At times, reports take longer to load, and the interface could be more modern and intuitive. With a simpler UI, the experience would be even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
