I really value FileRun's self-hosted architecture and granular security controls for providing data control without compromise. I don't like the lack of real-time co-editing. Unlike Google Docs/Sheets, FileRun only supports sequential file editing. If two team members open the same Word/PDF/Excel file, one gets a 'read-only' version, and changes have to be saved/merged manually. You can host your own files on your server, so you control all data, security and privacy. It doesn't force to copy files to a proprietary system, one can point fileRun to where the files already live like local drives. It allows drag and drop uploads, Resume interrupted uploads, share large files. It allows personalizing the interface with your own logo, color and text which is useful for business. The technical setup can be challenging, especially since FileRun requires the ionCube Loader extension, which needs to be manually installed and isn't part of standard PHP setups.
