Now when I'm asking them to provide me a full refund, they are just ignoring the matter. Even including my own rather old serial number generation system. Showing the serial numbers right after purchase reduces the frustration when customers mistype their email. Selling in currencies which match the customers country. **What do you dislike about FastSpring?** The documentation is not directly linked from the pages where I use it. That could save some work when setting up shop. That said, it was not that difficult to get the serial number scheme working properly. **What problems is FastSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** Payment handling for my apps. Handling of VAT. The shop looks trustworthy for a non-app store shop. Pricing in local currency. Serial number generation with my own scheme. Delivery of serial numbers to customers. Essentially we can sell our SaaS product worldwide without worrying about tax and billing compliance and receive one or several fat batch payments instead of invoicing every customer directly. It just makes sense for SaaS where you want to sell subscriptions worldwide outside U.S. and even EU and not worry about local taxes, compliance etc. (if you are willing to pat the price, that is). Benefits - They take care of tax collection, billing, re-bills, payment reminders, and invoicing for customers worldwide - Multi-language billing interface (although situation with localization has dramatically worsened in the last few years) - No monthly minimum or monthly fees (important for small SaaS just starting the business) - Fast payments - API **What do you dislike about FastSpring?** During last few years we have had several isolated "glitches" with them. 1) They refused to update localization / translation for Latvian language which we offered for free and which is important for us. They are much more corporate and much less personal these days. I mean, come on, guys - refusing to correct a typo on checkout page? Seriously. 2) We had a glitch where they failed to charge multiple customers, probably ending us costing a few thousand bucks (the amount is not huge for us, but still). I am not sure how that ended as I did not receive any followup whether we will or will not be paying for their mistake. The money, however was not important, the poor communication style was the biggest problem, it was like "we made mistake and thus you will have to pay now". A bit scary. Overall all our negative experiences have had relatively small impact, but we are sure FastSpring can and will do better in the future. Then there are fees which are not among the lowest, but that is the price you have to pay for global worry-free coverage and compliance. **Recommendations to others considering FastSpring:** The Feature benefits are offset by high transaction fees, so you should probably calculate whether an in-house solution makes more sense for your application or not. A good software developer is needed to do API integration, then it is possible within days or weeks, relatively easy. **What problems is FastSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** For us FastSpring makes it easy to sell subscription SaaS globally and not worry about invoicing, local billing and taxation specifics. Essentially FastSpring operates as a reseller which is what we need. Very few competitors offer such all-in-one package. ### 8. From a long time customer. Awesome service. Get a quick personal response when any issues arise. **What do you dislike about FastSpring?** Lower pricing would always be appreciated. There is a significant spread between say using Paypal and using FastSpring, but obviously FastSpring offers a value add with their services (such as fraud prevention, breadth of customer payment options offered, and fulfillment scripts securely hosted on their servers) that go way beyond what Paypal offers. The fraud detection system is always a work in progress - this goes for other processors as well - but I do get occasional false positives from frustrated legitimate customers, and missed fraudulent purchases that result in pricey chargebacks. **What problems is FastSpring solving and how is that benefiting you?** A one stop shop for international payment processing through credit cards, bank transfers, amazon, paypal, and various other regional payment systems that also handles internationalization/currency conversion, order fulfillment emails, and other comms with buyers. ### 13. ¡Exceptional service! With a few simple tutorials watched, I was able to get the whole platform up and running within a few days time. This exceeded my expectations and allowed me to focus on the actual products we are selling as opposed to administrative tasks. **What do you dislike about FastSpring?** Some of the advanced options can be a bit technically difficult, however these are edge cases. Unfortunately, their system is unstable and losing customers because the payment gateway is not working is the last thing you want. What makes things even worse they provide NO technical support. If something happens you are on your own. Some of the examples: - They are closing tickets without any resolution after few months (eg. #93527 - I put the reference for Fastspring stuff if they would like to comment) - Sometimes even without notifying - #100260 is the bug that was impacting my live orders was closed after 2 YEARS and 3 months - Recently I reported that notifications from Fastspring to my site stopped working and I couldn't fulfil my obligations towards my customers that have just paid. I took 20h for their support to start working on the issue but the support team member was not skilled enough and after my request issue was escalated.
