I really appreciate that Deltek Costpoint is an all-in-one financial system that covers financials, timekeeping, billing, and project accounting. The automation of workflows like accounts payable, billing, and time entry significantly streamlines processes, improving accuracy and efficiency in project costing. The dashboard is another feature I like, as it provides employees with an easy place to access current and past timesheets, check the status of expense reports, and manage leave requests. One area for improvement is in reporting flexibility. It has strong data capabilities, creating custom or ad hoc reports can be less user-friendly. Building a report often requires a deeper understanding of table structure, report tools and/or multiple steps that aren't always user-friendly for non-tech users, which makes it hard to quickly pull tailored reports without assistance from a more experienced user. Often, I need to get on a call with a customer representative to use many of the more robust features, and it’s difficult to get on the phone or a Teams chat with someone who can actually help when I’m stuck trying to use a specific capability of the platform. I’d really like a more involved learning hub, with step-by-step walkthroughs and clear examples, that customers and users of the platform can refer to when they need guidance. There is a forum but I have never been able to find much help there.

There have been a few times when the easy answer was "Ask your Administrator" but I am the Administrator asking.

So I mainly use to log my own hours and then approve the timecards of my direct reports. It is easier to use for approval of direct reports timecards than previous tools used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is not as easy to find charge codes in the tree of available charge codes as the previous tool the company made use of. I also find it cumbersome to navigate through the manage/approve timecard portion as far as using the refinement tools to try and find older records or a specific direct reports info. The ability to tailor the application to meet our company's needs through extensibility and CBI. We are able to tie our data together for centralized processing in the way we need it. The system is getting more user-friendly as they take lessons learned from usability, but it does require some training to administer the data properly.
