It gives data teams and AI agents the context, business meaning, and organizational memory needed to understand and use enterprise data consistently. Collate automates the recurring work required to keep data documented, tested, and governed, while grounding AI in the context needed to produce more accurate answers with fewer tokens.  More than 4,000 organizations worldwide, including OpenAI, Yelp, Experian, and Airbus, run their production data and AI workloads on Collate and OpenMetadata. ## Collate Reviews ### 1. People can find what they need, understand where it comes from and know whether they can rely on it, without depending on the few colleagues who happen to know. The interface helps a lot with that. It's clean and easy to move around in, so non-technical people don't need training to get value from it. Connecting our existing tools was straightforward too, most of them were recognised out of the box, and everything stays up to date on its own. It stays fast even as the volume of information grows, which isn't a given in this category. On cost, it's one of the rare tools where the value is obvious quickly, the time saved on questions that used to go around by email or chat pays for it. The team behind it is also genuinely responsive, and getting started took far less time than we expected. The tool has also matured a lot. It went from being a place where information is stored to a place where it's actually managed, clear owners, clear meaning, clear rules. And it's kept pace with how quickly things are moving with AI, which is rare: most tools in this space are still talking about it, here it's already working **What do you dislike about Collate?** There's a lot in the tool now. That's a strength, but it means the first weeks can feel dense. You have to know what you want to achieve before you start, otherwise it's easy to get lost in the options. A clearer guided path for new teams would help **What problems is Collate solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before, knowledge about our data lived with people rather than in a system. Finding the right dataset, knowing who owned it or checking whether it could be trusted meant asking around, and the answer depended on who was available. New joiners took weeks to become autonomous. Collate solved that by making all of it visible in one place. Questions that used to take half a day of back-and-forth now take a few minutes, and people answer them on their own. Onboarding is noticeably faster, and when something changes upstream we see who is affected before they do, instead of finding out through a broken report. The other real benefit is trust. Because ownership and meaning are documented and kept up to date, teams stop rebuilding the same thing twice and start relying on what already exists, including our AI tools, which now work from the same source of truth as everyone else ### 2. The customer support team from Collate has been very helpful in starting to use and implement the software in our company, as well as being very open to quickly fix and adjust whatever issues we encountered. **What do you dislike about Collate?** I find the automations in Collate could be more flexible and adaptive, with the ability to have custom conditions beyond just fixed ones. It would be great if Collate could host custom code automations using its infrastructure, instead of us having to build and maintain them on our end. Also, the PII AutoClassification sometimes doesn't work as expected, tagging columns incorrectly, like identifying them as birthdates when they are not. Although the results improve with validation after running scans, it's an area for enhancement. **What problems is Collate solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Collate for data cataloging, classification, and access control, enabling organized data management and secure access. The APIs allow custom automation, enhancing AI integration and operations. Collate also streamlines data subject requests, improving response times. ### 3. The customer service is fantastic and has been the biggest draw for us apart from using the tool itself. We are still setting up, but it's already going much faster than our previous tool, Alation. **What do you dislike about Collate?** One thing we would like to see is a copy of the file structure from our reporting platforms, so when navigating the catalog in, say, Tableau, can be done the same way in Collate. When in the explorer, it would help us familiarize our coworkers to use Collate if they could navigate Tableau's dashboards the same way they do in Tableau. **What problems is Collate solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Collate to enhance data governance, providing visibility into our data, spotting sync issues, offering audit workflows, and helping BI owners trust their data. ### 4. The ease of use of the tool and the knowledgeable team supporting the tool are by far the best. **What do you dislike about Collate?** Less about Collate and more about getting our users into the tool. **What problems is Collate solving and how is that benefiting you?** Providing a context layer for ai data readiness, allowing for data cataloging, lineage to help understand upstream and downstream impacts when touching tables and columns, providing alerting for data quality so businesses users can be aware. ### 5.
