## CodeScene Reviews
  ### 1. CodeScene Delivers Smart, Actionable Insights Beyond Static Analysis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saravana K. | Technical Leader, Telecommunications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2025

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

CodeScene stands out by focusing on behavioral code analysis rather than just static rule checks. The hotspot analysis highlights the most critical and frequently changed parts of the system, making it clear where technical debt truly matters. I especially value the GitHub PR integration, where CodeScene posts automated, intelligent review comments — combining code health, test coverage, and change coupling. This ensures that risky changes are caught early, before they reach production.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

The platform has a bit of a learning curve, especially for teams unfamiliar with concepts like hotspots or change coupling. The UI, while feature-rich, can feel slightly heavy on very large repositories. Integration with coverage tools like JaCoCo is powerful, but it requires some manual configuration, unlike the plug-and-play model of other tools.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CodeScene pinpoints hotspots and risky code that traditional tools miss, helping us focus on what truly impacts maintainability. It combines behavioral analysis with test coverage to reduce technical debt and improve release confidence.

  ### 2. Impactful code quality mesurements

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yossi Z. | SCM DevOps Group Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2025

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

Codescene helps to quickly identify various issues within your codebase, no matter how big it is - i've used it for projects ranging from 500 lines of code to over 4 million.
The issues are tangible and actionable, not just "good to know" - you really see the immediate impact of addressing them. Aside for code quality you can also view things like hidden dependencies (e.g. files that often changed together), team knowledge sharing levels, planned vs unplanned work (when integrated with PM tool such as jira), and much more information - all measurable and nicely presented. Easy to define KPIs and quality gates which are easy to integrate and enforced via pull request and ci/cd pipelines.
The integration with developer IDE (mainly vscode) is also extremely useful to catch issues early on and encourage developers to follow the "boyscout rule" when working on existing code.
The only reason i didn't give a 10 is because what's lacking for me was support for code coverage - it was recently added to the product but i have yet to try it out.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

It can be a bit overwhelming at first, especially for large codebase with large team that do not have clear boundaries or separation. It could take some time to define the team structure and code architecture to really utilize codescene's full potential (although even without it there is still a lot of value)

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

On project with lots of legacy code, often without proper structure, it's easy to lose focus and not understand what's important. CodeScene helps by pointing out the major "red spots" that needs attention - for example, files that already have poor code quality and are changed a lot by multiple people. it encourages improving code quality and readability, preventing potential bugs and make the code easier to maintain and faster to update. With AI integration it's easier than ever - let the Ai do the heavy lifting of the boring refactoring tasks like breaking up methods or remove duplicate code.
Besides that, in any project it helps to spot potential management issues before they happen - for example if certain code is only handled by one developer, it is a potential knowledge gap issue and risk in case the person is not available for a long period of time.

  ### 3. Codebase Insights with Simple, Actionable Advice

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alf H. | IT architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2026

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

I love CodeScene's simplicity and the concrete advice it gives on how to improve. I also appreciate how it anchors suggestions on improving the codebase from literature and well-known development practices. The initial setup was very straightforward, with running the docker locally and pointing it to codebases being very easy.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

It was not so easy to understand the portfolio and all the menu navigation. I would love to see more metrics or insights at a glance instead of hidden beneath each menu item.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CodeScene provides insights into the authors, risks, and health of the codebase, and gives team knowledge distribution.

  ### 4. Effortless Code Analysis with Swift Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcus L. | Product Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2026

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

I like CodeScene's easy setup and how quickly it gives me a really good understanding of our codebase. The documentation is very good, and if I need personal help, they are swift in replying. It's also a very good starting point when I need help configuring the application to suit my specific needs. It's very easy to get going, and I can tweak the settings to better match my requirements.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

There is a lot of functionality that I don't use, but that is more related to my, and my company's, use case for CodeScene.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CodeScene gives me a good understanding of code health, helps prioritize refactoring, and identifies potential risks like developer dependencies and critical code.

  ### 5. CodeScene Certification

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vishal C. | Principal Software Engineer | Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2025

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

What I appreciate most about CodeScene is how it transforms code analysis into actionable insights. The platform surpasses standard static analysis by identifying hotspots, technical debt, and aspects of team dynamics, which supports engineering teams in making well-informed decisions. Its visualizations are easy to understand, and the recommendations are genuinely useful, making it simpler to prioritize refactoring efforts and enhance code health over time. Additionally, the course content is thoughtfully organized—concise, targeted, and readily applicable to real-world situations. It’s evident that CodeScene is designed with developers’ needs in mind.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

While CodeScene offers powerful insights and visualizations, one area that could be improved is the initial onboarding experience. For new users, some of the advanced features and terminology might feel overwhelming without additional context or examples. A more guided walkthrough or interactive tutorials could help users get up to speed faster.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CodeScene helps identify and manage technical debt, code complexity, and hotspots in a codebase — problems that are often overlooked until they impact delivery timelines or system stability. By visualizing these areas and providing actionable insights, it enables teams to prioritize refactoring efforts and improve code quality proactively.
For me, the biggest benefit has been the ability to make data-driven decisions during code reviews and sprint planning. It also helps in communicating technical debt and architectural risks to non-technical stakeholders, which is crucial for long-term planning and resource allocation.

  ### 6. The best tool I've used that targets Maintainability quality characteristic.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin N. | Test and Quality Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2025

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

There are multiple quality characteristics (see ISO 25000 or the Heuristic Test Strategy Model) but the Maintainability-characteristic has always been a sore spot for me: Very important but difficult to test. Using Codescene I've gotten an excellent overview of the code health (the code quality so to speak) and helps setting targets.

The Pull Request reviews are especially fantastic and works as an additional senior code reviewer that reviews every piece of code that comes into the main or develop branches for all teams. This feature alone makes it possible for me to guarantee maintainability of all new code up to a certain level. For the pilot team we measured roughly a frequency of a couple of pull request analysis per day for a development team of 6-7 people.

As a Test and Quality manager it is perfect to get an overview and the developers in the teams feel that it helps them produce better code. It also helps teams do better describe the cost benefit of increasing code health/quality by spending time on refactoring certain hotspots, a benefit that can be tricky to explain to stakeholders lacking development expertise.

All in all my expectation on this tool is that the maintenance cost of our development lifecycle will decrease by a substantial degree in the future.

I had to set the server up by myself but the fast deployment using Docker was great. The software also works with common authentication methods which made it easy to connect to the software I wanted it to pull information from.

The customer support has been good, I've had a contact that replied in a quick manner and this helped us delpoy Codescene rahter quickly.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

The downsides so far has been few, but there are some features that are difficult to use when you work with an organization where opening firewall ports or working with proxies are a challenge. There is for example an excellent integration with Azure DevOps for automatic code reviews, but if you Azure DevOps instance is on the outside of the network where Codescene is running they cannot connect without proxy or opening a firewall port. This can be handled by using local Azure DevOps agents running that can call the Codescene API, but some features such as counting the number of analyzed PR's are then not activated.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main challenge was how to address the Maintainability quality characteristic. For functional suitability we can perform testing and use test automation (such as unit-test up to system test) to secure that characteristic. Using Codescene we can now describe the Maintainability of the code.
We also have a challenge with code delivered by external parties and sometimes we have seen that their code lives up to the acceptance criteria but is not very maintainable and not written for maintainability (spaghetti code so to speak) . Using Codescene we can now add an additional criteria that is easily explainable and understandable and in that way we can guarantee the Maintainability of incoming code to a certain degree.

  ### 7. CodeScene provides not just data, but insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel S. | CTO, Gesellschafter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2025

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

CodeScene's metrics focus on the code quality in terms of reading, understanding and maintaining instead of technical details. It doesn't just analyze the code and aggregate data, it also interpretes the data and provides valuable insights.
The delta analyses and IDE intgrations provide immediate feedback for the developers.
The customer support is fast and helpful.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

It takes some time to understand the different analyses in depths and dense visualizations (the documentation helps). Sometimes it's not immediately clear how some of the aggregations are calculated.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides immediate feedback to the developers about the readability of the code.
It provides valuable metrics for technical leads and management about the overall quality of the project and the efficiency of the development process.

  ### 8. Excited to use and curious about what's next

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hedda D A. | DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2025

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

CodeScene is straightforward to set up and configure, making it easy to get started. The visualizations are excellent, and once you become familiar with navigating the tool, it is a true game changer both for developers prioritizing their work and communicating these priorities to business.
What makes CodeScene stand out in the jungle of solutions, are their dedication to the science behind good code health. I'm confident in the choices they make and the product baseline for code analysis.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

The main challenge we face with CodeScene is getting developers to incorporate it into their daily workflow. While there are several shift-left solutions available, such as the CLI and VS Code IDE, the absence of a Visual Studio IDE integration is a significant drawback for our team. We also find the lack of out-of-the-box configurations that integrate seamlessly with our CI/CD tools to be a limitation.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team has a huge stack of legacy code with potential high maintenance technical debt, CodeScene help visualize this and promote a clear view of potential blockers. Also, the primary problem CodeScene is solving for our teams is declining code health in new solutions - with the Pull Request integration we can keep our code at a high standard from early on.

  ### 9. Insightful Change Tracking with No Drawbacks

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2023

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

Our teams really like the knoledge base feature that has helped us identify the areas where we were missing knowledge after a teams reorganization that changed the people in every team one year ago. The tool helped us identifing the high risk areas and we got the change to improve our knowledge base in the new teams.
Another very useful feature is the code health since we are working on some monoltihs and this feature helped us identify the repositories with the worst helath of code so that we could fix them right away.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

The integration with YouTrack is a new feature and it still needs some improvement to personalize the configuration in order to correctly defying what is unplanned work.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives us more visibility on code health and knowledge base

This solves the technical debt accumulation, undetected code hotspots and risky areas, lack of insights into team dynamics.

  ### 18. Static code analysis and UI with a suite of stats and graphs - great for tracking project health.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2024

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

CodeScene is good at picking up code smells and the VSCode extension makes it really easy to use and pick up code smells before they make it to version control. CodeScene offer a UI that provides a whole host of stats and metrics on our code, such as commit frequencies, knowledge distribution, code health scores along with which files are problematic and why, all of this makes it really simple to go in and improve our code. CodeScene is straightforward to get started with and offers version control PR integration where it can let us know if the code health is decreasing and how/where.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

Some of the rules set by CodeScene seem arbitrary and unnecessary, I know these can be customised to our needs but often code is dynamic. We have some APIs that are wrappers for a database or whatever which often get flagged by CodeScene but in reality, this API is probably fine for what it is. There are other examples for some of the rules CodeScene sets such as primitive obsession. Sure, you could maybe argue this is a wider problem but arbitrarily grouping primitive parameters into objects to increase our code health score doesn't feel correct. Lastly, a minor point about the UI, I would say the learning curve is somewhat steep. There are a lot of tabs, metrics and graphs which can be a bit overwhelming to navigate at first.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CodeScene helps make our projects better. More maintainable by checking the knowledge distribution. Easier to pick up for new developers by looking at code smells and static code analysis like anti-patterns in code. CodeScene tracks all this and more, and packages it into a suite of products (VSCode extension, web UI, CLI tool etc.) that help aid development and overall project health.

  ### 19. Unearthing technical debt, identifying lost knowledge and enabling non-tech stakeholders empathy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2024

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

On an organisation level, the data we've gathered helps our teams move forward in a better way by having additional information and signals to facilitate delivery.

From an engineering perspective, we can help identify team productivity bottlenecks and areas most expensive to maintain, support onboarding with knowledge maps of a system or domain, assist with off boarding by identifying the areas in need of knowledge transfer, help to maintain standards and more.

CodeScene can be deployed into a continuous integration pipeline and can integrate with a git repository to automatically analyse pull requests and identify high-risk commits. The analysis can help engineers who are less experienced with the code base review high impact code changes and catch potential problems before they are delivered to the main branch of the code base.

Identifying delivery risks before they become an issue if also a beneficial signal from a product engineering team perspective. A possible scenario involves a project that involves understanding and adapting an area which contains a lot of hotspots and complex code for a team built of mostly new engineers. Using these tools allows better visibility, questions and delivery estimates.

Having this real world information up-front from an onboarding perspective for a EM, HoE, VP and CTO role is also something not to be quickly dismissed.

We not only want to identify our technical debt, but help prioritise what should be fixed and track this over time. Or from a different angle, identify what we don't need to focus on fixing and instead accept our technical debt as the impact is low, therefore the value is likely low.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

The interfaces can be a bit clunky at times, there is a level of onboarding needed in terms of where everything is and sadly, it does not integrate with our ticketing tool for delivery reporting (Linear). All quite minor things though.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Code hotspots are now visible and represented well, knowledge islands and lost knowledge are visible and can be addressed with kowledge distribution, data on how teams interact with each other is useful, metrics on our team experience levels over time helps set expectations for delivery and being able to set real world refactoringh targets is great in terms of measurement.

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

Getting CodeScene set up and connected to our repos was very easy.

As a non-developer working in a software development company, one of my jobs is to protect developers' time when possible. CodeScene lets me interrogate code and discover entry points for the developers to perform more in-depth code reviews.

I also like that I can show progress even our least technical stakeholders can understand with the streamlined visuals codescene creates.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

It would be nice to see attribution for hotspots to allow project managers or lead developers to gently redirect the users who are introducing the areas of concern.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reporting on software development progress is easy in some ways (e.g. we can demo a new feature, and a client can see it) but it's difficult to show in other ways - reducing complexity, abstracting reusable components into their own files, even spending time monitoring and checking to ensure code quality. For those areas where it's difficult to demonstrate value, we have historically had difficulty convincing clients that the work does need to happen, does produce value, etc. CodeScene helps us demonstrate that value by providing over-time visualizations of key code health indicators that we can show to clients and stakeholders. It also lets us save developer time in code reviews by surfacing concerns that need to be addressed and allowing our devs to focus their manual review on more esoteric considerations.

  ### 25. Good way to make sure PRs are good to be merged

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yanaki K. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2024

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

Makes reviewing PRs easier as you can see if the code health has declined.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

Tests can affect the score with duplication which is acceptable in tests, but it can be customized.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can see where the code has declined with the VSC extension

  ### 26. Total Gamechanger for Software Development

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2023

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

Seriously, this is a game-changer. CodeScene's hotspots help us zero in on those tricky parts of our codebase that might be causing headaches. It's like having a guide showing you where the potholes are on a road so you can dodge them.Beyond the hotspots, the tool offers some pretty nifty metrics about code health and team dynamics. It's not just about the code; it's also about how we work together as a team.

The visual breakdowns make it easier to grasp the state of our code, especially when trying to explain things to non-tech folks.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

Okay, it's not the most straightforward tool right out of the gate. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's smooth sailing.
Sometimes, there's just too much information thrown at you. It's great to have all these insights, but filtering out the noise can be a challenge.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're working with a project that's been around for a solid 15 years. Back in its early days, tight deadlines led to a few shortcuts in the code. Thanks to CodeScene, we can now sift through that technical debt, pinpointing exactly where to channel our efforts for the most impactful improvements.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2024

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

PR integration and quick feedback as part of build process

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

Applying same expectation to test files and test set up with regards to how long the tests are or duplicate code which is sometimes inevitable. However, I understand you can define rules around this to have better control.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Early feedback and quick signal if code quality drops or improves

  ### 30. Brilliant Product Complements Other Analysis Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike M. | Programmer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2024

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

Easy to use, you just set up your projects and leave it. Every time you commit your code, an analysis is done and code-smells, problems, etc are reported. You can then interactively analyse the suggestions.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

Not really a problem but it highlights how bad my code really is :)

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My poor implementation of SOLID principles.

  ### 31. Leverage for dev team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** 🇺🇦 Andrew P. | Technology Advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2023

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

CodeScene gives the dev team quick answers to what is a danger zone in the code base and what should be refactored first.
Using this tool the team can easily compose a technical roadmap for the next quarter.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

UX is not great. Sometimes links in UI lead to unexpected places.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You, as a business, can not deliver new features to market fast if your tech debt increases without addressing it. Increasing tech debt slows you down. And if you handle it, you still have limited resources and cannot do everything. This tool allows you to prioritise what part of the code base should be refactored in the first place. So, no need to fix everything. Just fix the top 5 worst pieces every couple of sprints, and you're good!

  ### 32. Great tool for understanding and measuring the maintainability of a code base

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2023

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

Helps quantify the maintainability of your codebase and provides targeted areas to refactor problematic code. Understanding your code Hotspots and high-churn modules is important when prioritizing technical debt. It also does a great job of helping understand interactions between teams within the same code base.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

I love that I can configure the rules in a settings file that is committed alongside the code but it could be easier to modify static analysis settings on a per file/per method basis. For example, I'd like to disable a rule on a method with a comment like /* code-scene ignore: function_max_arguments */
Happy to update the review, if this is already possible

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Undestanding the maintainability of a code base helps prioritize technical debt so no features are delivered faster.

  ### 33. Best tool for visualizing technical debt

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mattias L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2023

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

The best is how CodeScene vizulize our code. Showing potential hotspot and focus areas. Pointing you in the right direction of code that has low health and is used a lot so you can focus your refactoring.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

It has slowed down the velocity of the developers as we use the PR (Pull Request) integration in CodeScene, because it instantly shows if you've changed the code health for the better or worse.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As the stakeholders are not so technical we have a hard time as developers to show the impact of our technical debt. With this tool we can easily vizulize that this new feature is going to take longer time due to the code health where its going to be added is low.

  ### 34. Early Adoption Lead to Many Insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jake M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2023

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

CodeScene provides insights into our developement life cycle that no other tool we use can provide

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

We haven't run into anything that causes concern

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We particularly benefit from knlowledge loss insights

  ### 35. CodeScene helps us keep our code healthy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Xavier G. | Scrum Master, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2022

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

CodeScene makes it very easy to surface technical debt and assists in continuously monitoring your code health. It even gives you clear instructions on fixing code health declines. We've had great experiences with Stephen, who is always available for questions and assistance.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

There's A LOT of information in CodeScene, and it's sometimes hard to know what information to focus on and to fully understand the information CodeScene is presenting.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As the size of our codebase increases, it's hard for developers to identify places of technical debt. CodeScene solves this by clearly showing which areas of your code are potential problems. It also helps us to continuously understand the impact of our changes by integrating with our Pull Requests.

  ### 36. Codescene is guiding us to write better code automatically

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heikki P. | Principal Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2022

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

We have automated our code quality reviews with Codescene and have had impactful results from the beginning of usage.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

There's a bit of a learning curve to get used to all features, but the Codescene team has accommodated us to get started.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to monitor our code quality, especially on our most used and edited files.

  ### 37. As a Chief Architect, I get visibility into all teams and the tech debt increase and decrease.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shuva D. | VP Engineering and Chief Architect

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2022

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

- The results are actionable for every developer in my team.
- Micro level analysis and also macro-level reports helps both the engineer and mgmt

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

- None at the moment. We have self hosted codescene and when its down, our developers feel like losing a team member.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Help articulate tech debt management.
- Team members can address issues at the micro level which is not an overhead -- the sum of all is enormous.

  ### 38. A new standard for quality assurance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Magnus C O. | Quality Evangelist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2021

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

By starting on a high level you get a good overview of the most problematic areas and then you can drill down and look at the details and see where your real problems are. Combined with trend analysis, code biomarkers and other features like analyzing social interaction between teams, i.e. are they all over the place or in their own modules, make it a versatile tool when working with quality.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

It does not get any better than the data you are using. If you have not commented on your pull requests or check-ins correctly, to be able to trace e.g. defects in certain areas, then it will, of course, be challenging to make any conclusions. Even though you get a very good visual overview of your data, the user interface can be improved to make it slightly more user-friendly.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool provides answers to many of your questions in a fast and manageable way. The whole idea of using historical data, together with the different features CodeScene offers, makes it much easier to guide your improvement work and improve the quality of your code base, including your test code.

  ### 39. Enabled my team to be faster

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mathias P. | Team Manager & Partner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2021

**What do you like best about CodeScene?**

I like the Delivery Performance functionalities that allow me to rapidly visualize and act on the most critical lead time metrics, such as Lead Time for Changes or Planned vs. Unplanned work. This insight and the possibility to quickly identify areas in our code with the highest technical debt and complexity, areas that lead to quality issues, is a killer feature.

**What do you dislike about CodeScene?**

The user interface could be more intuitive.

**What problems is CodeScene solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The possibility to connect the history of your code with business metrics that allows you to drive and push for increased speed as this is increasingly more important going forward.
