Who is CDK pricing best suited for?

CDK's pricing is best suited for mid-market and enterprise automotive dealerships, particularly multi-rooftop dealer groups needing centralized DMS operations across sales, service, parts, and accounting. G2 reviewers from the automotive industry across mid-market and enterprise segments consistently report the strongest fit, with enterprise users in transportation and trucking also represented. G2 reviews of CDK indicate smaller single-point dealerships can use it effectively but may struggle to justify the cost, especially for add-ons and proprietary hardware. Dealerships already familiar with command-code DMS systems like legacy ADP will find the transition smoother, and those prioritizing deep accounting and parts management capabilities get the most from CDK's pricing.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of CDK?

CDK offers no free version or free tier. According to G2's pricing data for CDK, the pricing of CDK is structured around custom enterprise quotes with no publicly listed tiers. G2 reviewers confirm CDK operates on a paid subscription model where base access covers core DMS functions including sales, service, parts, and accounting, but virtually every additional capability requires an extra fee. Reviewers specifically call out charges for form edits, third-party integrations via 3PA fees, and add-on modules. Prospective buyers should expect negotiated custom pricing rather than a self-serve entry point, with costs scaling based on dealership size, rooftop count, and required feature set.

Is CDK considered good value for its pricing?

G2 reviewers present a split picture on CDK's value. High-rating users across mid-market and enterprise automotive segments praise its all-in-one DMS capabilities, cross-department data integration, robust reporting, and strong customer support, treating the cost as justified. However, multiple G2 reviewers explicitly flag CDK's pricing as steep, citing expensive third-party integration fees, proprietary hardware markups, and add-on charges for every additional feature. One small-business reviewer noted convoluted invoices and premium-priced proprietary printers. A mid-market reviewer switched to Dealertrack citing better cost-effectiveness. The consensus: CDK delivers strong value for larger dealerships with complex multi-department needs, but smaller operations may find the cumulative costs difficult to justify relative to available alternatives.

"Affordable Pricing and Mostly Reliable Integrations, but Support Needs Work"
3/5
What do you like best about CDK?

Aggressive pricing makes products affordable for our business and the number of locations we support. The integrations work *most* of the time and are generally reliable on a daily basis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CDK?

The support is subpar and frustrating. Calling in for assistance is a coin toss - you either get someone who knows exactly what they're doing or you get someone who isn't very knowledgeable and the call drags on. It makes attempting to solve serious concerns very frustrating.

Outages do happen, but the frequency over the last year has been strenuous. We cannot go a day or two without the ability to conduct business.

The product interface is acceptable. Its easy enough for the average user to grasp, but its a little buggy at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Heather Erickson of CDK

We're glad to hear that you find our pricing affordable and our integrations reliable. We apologize for the subpar support experience you've had. We are continuously working to improve our support services to ensure a better experience for all our customers.
