The Tool goes heavy on less than 16 GB Ram System, and even for greater than 16 GB ram, it hangs or makes your PC slow(Including a 2 GB Graphics card) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

IPG CarMaker proved to be a much easier tool than I thought when I started using it during the pandemic for simulating vehicle dynamics parameters for SAE India events. The main cluster provides all the buttons you need for inputing the parameters for modelling your vehicle. You can also create tracks, add potholes or gravel, grass according to your testing requirments which works very much close to real life conditions. The changes one makes gets implemented very fast and you can see the impact of your changes which works great. The SKC files in Kinematics which can be integrated with the tool may somewhat be a challenge if you are new which was in my case. Some buttons take time and study to really understand how they help to model the vehicle, CarMaker can look into that to make it more user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'm a professional user of CarMaker and I use it regularly as its a key part of my day to day work. I work as a developer in ADAS and AV. And CarMaker is our super power. We have integrated it with a tool called Foretify Fmanager. Its a tool from Foretellix which is used for validation of ADAS features and Autonomous Vehicles.

CarMaker is implemented for all kinds of simulations related to vehicles starting from vehicle dynamics to autonomous vehicles.

It provides separate scenario editor which can be used to create and implement maps from scratch, edit existing maps in OpenDRIVE as well as rd5 format. Scenario editor of CarMaker also has some unique features like tunnel creation, bridge creation, etc.

I have also worked with other similar softwares like VTD and UnrealCarla, but the consistency that I have experienced with CarMaker is just phenomenal.

Another great thing about CarMaker is that it's really very simple to use.

Whenever I got any problem related to CarMaker, support team helped me personally through video meeting and not only solved the problem, but also taught me how to implement some features efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are few drawbacks that I think CarMaker team should consider.

First one is, apart from using open source and industry standard i.e. OpenDrive format, CarMaker uses rd5 format for maps. So, despite of having a well built scenario editor, we cannot use it for exporting OpenDrive maps.

Second one is that, it doesn't support fbx or glTF formats in scenario editor, but only supports obj format. It doesn't cause any problem anyway, but it requires some other application like Blender to convert files at times.

Third one is, while placing some 3d prop in maps, carmaker only supports placing those with respect to some road. [i.e. distance from starting or end point of road and a distance perpendicular to it. It would be nice if we could use world origin or coordinate axes for that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
