Carbone allows me to generate complex documents from clean JSON, without heavy logic on the template side. Coupled with n8n, I can automate complete workflows, from the form to the production of PDFs.

What I appreciate the most is the flexibility of the templating engine and the ability to handle conditions, loops, and nested structures while remaining based on standard office files. This allows for working with non-technical clients without friction.

One of the frustrating points is the absence of an advanced editor directly in Carbone. I would like to be able to import a template and then modify it online, especially to quickly adjust tags or conditions, without having to re-export, modify locally, and then re-upload.

The Word-based template system is incredibly efficient for building and customizing simple templates. The API delivers excellent performance, and the Studio interface provides valuable productivity gains. Working with complex templates and tables becomes challenging when variables {d.variable} need to be formatted in very small font sizes to maintain document consistency. Simple template creation using Word. Changes in the Word template are live-uploaded and can be previewed immediately. Creating the template in Word is both great and complex, as for example the apostrophe symbol may be replaced by a different character automatically and you need to watch out for it. As a developer, one of the greatest advantages I've experienced is not having to rely on installing Office on the computer. Additionally, I highlight the speed and simplicity when it comes to generating and creating templates. Another advantage is their customer service, which is the best by far, congratulations. The handling of JSON and the specific variable nomenclature in Carbone can be slightly obscure for someone who is not familiar with it. Introducing an AI module specific to Carbone that would generate these kinds of elements would truly be a game-changer to make the tool accessible to a wider audience.
