What do you like best about Canvas LMS?

The simplicity of the tools within Canvas to give instructors flexibility in how they deliver material Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canvas LMS?

Not all tools appear ready for prime time and overly simplictic in what they can do. Quiz creation isn't as robust as what we used in WebCT 8 years ago and the option for extra credit should be fixed so that teachers can let students know point value but doesn't add it to the total. Discussions need to allow the availability to mark how many replies have to be made in addition to the main topic Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Canvas LMS:

Understanding the termonology of things used in Canvas compared to other companies. Such as folders are modules but with modules you have lots more flexibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Canvas LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?

We not only use it as a means for instructors to teach their courses but we also use it as a means for tracking staff training, ASB (Student Body) for engaging all students in activities around the campus as well as using it for surveys Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Canvas LMS?

Canvas has a useful UI. It's mostly intuitive to navigate and pleasing to the eye. SpeedGrader is great. The Canvas mobile app is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canvas LMS?

The features. There are features in Sakai (our prior LMS) which are not present in Canvas. This is particularly striking to me given the enormous cost of Canvas). Why are so many Canvas tools LTI tools? Attendance is an LTI tool? New Quizzes is an LTI tool? Admin Analytics is an LTI tool? I find this very annoying because LTI tools do not honor native Canvas roles/permissions. There's also no way to set system defaults for some tools to encourage best practices. For example, we can't set system defaults for New Quizzes (presumably because it's an LTI tool?). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
