I have also reached out to customer service several times and have been happy with the services provided. **What do you dislike about BoardEffect?** I wish there was a setting to notify workroom members when an event is created and when a new board book is created. I also wish that there was a better method of creating collaborative docs in the library. I am looking to have a spreadsheet and working doc available for members to edit, and most of my Board members do not have Microsoft accounts to do so. **What problems is BoardEffect solving and how is that benefiting you?** BoardEffect provides a centralized location for all things Board-related. It is a great repository for meeting agendas and books, minutes, docs, etc. This is much more user friendly than other platforms. Almost no effort is needed to set up meetings and to share files. I’m especially a fan of the fact it syncs straight into Outlook to avoid a lot of scheduling time. With such an ease of use and such a wide range of features, such as secure document storage, how we prepare for our meetings have changed completely. And it’s more than a huge improvement for my daily work. **What do you dislike about BoardEffect?** I don’t like BoardEffect’s mobile app, because their app is glitchy and opens large documents very badly. Regretfully I have to wait or continue starting the app to have fast access to it from my phone in the middle of a meeting. This has made it harder to get flexible when I’m not at my desk and unnecessarily complicated my usual workflow. **What problems is BoardEffect solving and how is that benefiting you?** BoardEffect had solved a lot of our problems with organizing board materials and scheduling meetings. Previously, everything was contained in various emails and folders, which were a mess. And now it’s all together and very easy to do updates and still be very safe with that. Customer support is terrific, very responsive and timely. **What do you dislike about BoardEffect?** The inability to create hyperlinks within the book is a disadvantage. It would be nice if it would accept .jpg or .tif document types. I have never tried to insert a video as part of my deck, so I am not sure if that would be permissible. This keeps all of our board materials in order and stored and available. I can quickly access past meeting minutes, reports and other important documents. In fact, the voting and survey tools are also very very helpful. They reduce the time required to make decisions by streamlining decision making processes through which board members vote on resolving and give feedback. **What do you dislike about BoardEffect?** The mobile app of the BoardEffect could be improved. It is functional, however, it does not have some of the more advanced features that you get on the desktop version. Unfortunately, though, if you need to do more complex tasks on the go, you can be restricted. Moreover, for the new users the learning curve is somewhat steep. Although powerful, the interface is not easy to get used to. Finally, the customer support could be faster to respond. Together, we’ve been able to share the comments and annotations on the board documents and hit on key items to ensure we’re aligned. The way meeting materials are grouped by session also makes it easy and effective to review prior discussions or decisions. Task assignments and follow ups also make delegation easy, since everyone knows what needs to be done and who will follow up when. **What do you dislike about BoardEffect?** BoardEffect sometimes lags a bit when large documents or files get loaded and heavy annotations are given. This has sometimes slowed down preparation for meetings when we have had to go through lots of details in reports. But the system could certainly be improved to be able to handle these files a little more efficiently. From the beginning I expressed concern that there was no trial period before making a commitement. Having trusted what the sales consultant was tell me, our organization took the plunge and paid for a year's subscription (over $4000). Once we received access to the software and began using it, it was immediately apparent we had made the wrong choice. The dashboard and tools seemed very outdated, switching between features was clunky, and some of the features that sales told us it could do required workarounds and were't intuative at all. I expressed my concerns during the first training session and was met with "I'm sorry but there are no refunds". Upon further investigation, the refund policy was buried in there contract. You could only find it after navigating through two different links because it wasn't on the actual page I signed. Every time I was given another person's email higher up the chain to talk to I either got completely ignored or "the no refund" policy thrown in my face. All I wanted was a simple conversation with someone to talk about options. Yes a refund would have been my preference, but I was open to other options. No one took my calls. At the end of the day, this company took our money and ran. Now we are left with a software we won't use because it doesn't work for our needs.
