Grant making allows for a lot customization and details. It saves documentation well. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Grantmaking?** Using the system is very difficult for casual users, and we have about 20. It is not intuitive and it is easy to make mistakes. The worst thing is that Grant making allows payments to process without all reviews being completed if the user accidentally approves too early. Customer support is often incorrect when I ask questions. I have limited experience with this, but feel like there should be an easier way to do it rather than such a process. Also submitting applications through Blackbaud. We no longer use this feature because our Trustees did not like the finished product when printing out the applications. My review ranking of the online proposals was low due to us no longer using it and I am unfamiliar with the new features. So the same form works over multiple funding rounds. - pulling stats. Obvs, garbage in, garbage in, but the customizable application/reporting forms make it easy to pull stats on impact area, geography, population served. So much easier than my former excel spreadsheets! - product support is great at answering questions, as is the Blackbaud Community! You're never alone **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Grantmaking?** - it doesn't push data through to other BB products (i.e. update address or staff contact info) - you must download attachments to view (I think this is changing) **What problems is Blackbaud Grantmaking solving and how is that benefiting you?** The volume of applications and grant approvals has dramatically increased over the past few years, so our Word application form and re-keying into Excel sheets to track and collate stats was no longer a viable option. Rarely does the issue get resolved. For example, when I receive an application from an organization and there is a change in the legal name or contact's title, it does not get updated in the system. I have to rely on my knowledge to see if there is a change and manually update the system. It caters to community, education and faith-based foundations, corporations, financial services providers, government agencies and philanthropic advisors of all sizes. Primary features include grant management, customized grants coding, payment tracking, financial management, contact management and reporting. PRO Workflow - It's a customizable software that we can change the system to our workflow. And, it's integrating with accounting software, Financial Edge **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Grantmaking?** CONS: It's not 100% customizable. So, you have to deal with prefixed formats of them. Now it has online version. Not very user friendly. Might have been good some years ago but now with competitors like Salesforce, GIFTS really need to catch up fast before it loses customers. **What problems is Blackbaud Grantmaking solving and how is that benefiting you?** GIFTS does what it is meant to do. It helps you manage your grant making process from first contact to closure. However, it falls short in the user friendliness area and cannot keep up with other more innovative competitors. ### 28. Gifts Online (now Grantmaking) has proven to be an effective way to easily watch/monitor grants from an administrative level, as well as for the applicatnts/receivers of our grants. Our department used Raiser's Edge already, which we found to be a natural complement and platform for integration with other Blackbaud products. The interface is also beautiful and comfortable to use, which I believe help take our department to the next level. I recently switched from academic philanthropy to a health care philanthropy focus, but I plan on bringing my Blackbaud toolkit with me and see how it can help take health care to a new level of money raised and tracked from community members. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Grantmaking?** The recent name-change was tough for associates, as was the switch to a digital platform. I would recommend the software, but only if your organization already uses Blackbaud products. There was a small learning curve for our team. I found the Blackbaud team to be helpful in providing quick support, but again only when all products were associated with their brand. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Grantmaking:** I would switch over to all Blackbaud products. They are pricey, but I believe the cost increase was worth it (note I was not part of administrative team that chose the product). **What problems is Blackbaud Grantmaking solving and how is that benefiting you?** My favorite part of Gifts Online (Grantmaking) was the ease of information sharing and transparency across the department. With easy sharing and updates available in realtime on different screens, our team has enjoyed a much greater level of flexibility. I used this product when working with the grant officer at an institution of higher education. We were able to work simultaneously with applying for grants for students and departments, as well as track the grants we were giving to students. We were both in and out of the offices at different times (working from home or while on the road), but the ability to track 24/7 and manage changes we each made ended up being a problem solve we hadn't initially identified as a serious problem. I believe that as our fundraising and philanthropic activity continues to be done online, the need for organizations to utilize tools like this will continue to grow in importance. ### 29. I like that it is easy to find past applications and reports. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Grantmaking?** The printer friendly versions of applications are sometimes hard to read and jumbled. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Grantmaking:** This product is super user friendly and it is nice when so many foundations and other funders use the same platform so that overworked nonprofit staff don't have to learn a ton of different softwares to apply for funding. **What problems is Blackbaud Grantmaking solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use this software to apply for grants with many different funders. ### 34. I was able to design one that integrated perfectly with our website, although it took a bit of trial and error to figure it out. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Grantmaking?** Accessing training or how-to videos can be difficult. MicroEdge charges for training sessions, and they're out of our budget. However, our Customer Success advocate was extremely helpful in answering questions. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Grantmaking:** It takes a while to figure out how to accomplish tasks, but with dedication the software is a valuable addition to non-profits. **What problems is Blackbaud Grantmaking solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were able to move our grants application process completely online, and it integrates with our current management software too. I track about $4 million of dollars in grants and private gifts, and this software and given my organization structure. I believe whether you are a small or large non-profit, this software is needed in order to effectively track the amounts. The best feature is how you can tailor the features to a custom setting where it can be applied to each individual organization. Also what I love is the contact management. I use to have so many excel lists and now I just rely on the software. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Grantmaking?** Reporting templates are too broad, I would like someone to help me develop one that serves best my needs. I have different audiences that want to see different budgetary funds. For instance, my board of directors wants to see whats in and whats going out, compared to my donors who are matching a grant, they want to see effort in collecting more funds for that specific project. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Grantmaking:** I would recommend others considering MicroEdge that in the beginning it will require a lot of work. developing the templates, creating the data bases, teaching all employee the new software, but once it sets up, it will make organization so efficient. **What problems is Blackbaud Grantmaking solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am solving the tracking and classifying of the grants I receive, as well as the management of my donors and contacts. ### 38.
