## About SharePoint Azure AD Connect
SharePoint Azure AD Connect makes your life easier by synchronizing the user data from your Azure Active Directory to your SharePoint Online profile. Office 365 uses Azure Active Directory for storing user information. Since SharePoint Online has its own User Profile Service, when you use both AD and SharePoint online, not all the fields are mapped. This simple tool helps you map all the fields between the Azure Active Directory and SharePoint Online. Directory synchronization helps you mirror user account fields between your AD and SharePoint online and you don't have to create or update accounts twice. SharePoint Azure AD Connect tool allows you to set a schedule for periodic synchronization of your Azure AD fields with SharePoint Online User Profiles fields.

**What do you like best about SharePoint Azure AD Connect?**

Many companies use hybrid scenarios to transport their local Active Directory (AD) into the cloud (AAD). This can be done with tools like DirSync or ADFS systems. The benefit is that end users can use their single identity also in Office 365 services like in Exchange, SharePoint and Lync. This is a great solution (which we deploy very often for customers).

**What do you dislike about SharePoint Azure AD Connect?**

In Office 365 you cannot manually start the sync process between AAD and SPO, the process just happens and Microsoft isn´t very clear about that so you are dependant on that to happen.

**What problems is SharePoint Azure AD Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Office 365 uses Azure Active Directory for storing user information. Since SharePoint and SharePoint Online both have it´s own User Profile Service and User Store it was clear for Microsoft that some of the user properties have to be shared between these two storages.
