Berst has enabled Tapendium to increase team collaboration in an almost fully-remote environment. When we first startted using Berst we created a number of rooms for different purposes and staff can easily move between the rooms as desired.
As a small organisation Tapendium has an informal all staff catch-up every morning; this is done through Berst and people can join the room as they prepare to start work for the day. Most staff will have their video on and we can chat almost as if we were in person.
During the day our development teams keep a Berst room open all day. Everyone has their camera off and their microphone muted, but it enables any team member to unmute and ask a question, its as close as we can get to walking up to a coworker's desk in the office to ask a question.
We've also got some Berst rooms that we've set limits on the number of people who can join. This is fantastic for those times when we need a private conversation; we simply change from the team room to a private one and we can easily move back to the main room again when we're done.
When we signed up for Berst we thought it would mainly be used for internal communications, but we've rapidly found that the ability to allow unauthenitcated users to join has enabled us to rapidly start a video call with a customer to perform remote support and to coach them though their issue. My biggest concern with Berst is how integral it has beocme in our software development processes. On the rare occasions when we're unable to use Berst I can see a significant decline in productivity. I'm starting to feel that Berst could be a single point of failure for our development team.
There are some additional features I would like to see implemented over time, but some of them are likely to be relatively unique to our needs, so I might have to wait a little longer for some of them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
