  ### 1. A decent user experience with one big issue

**What do you like best about BerniePortal?**

The user experience in the portal itself is pretty good. It is easy to choose a benefit plan and see all the relevant information.

**What do you dislike about BerniePortal?**

The biggest downside is that the portal is a data collater that then requires manual entry on the benefit provider side. In my case, I registered for benefits and then found that the data wasn't entered on our broker side. It was an easy fix as I had done my part and was paying for the benefits, but the fact that the whole process functionally depends on a human kills any efficiency that the portal could provide.

**What problems is BerniePortal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes it easy to register for benefits and check the differences between benefit plans.

**What do you like best about BerniePortal?**

Bernie portal is best for all HR needs every HRIS system is great to use in Bernie portal.The program is very simple to use and easy to navigate . You can do employee management online in bernie.

**What do you dislike about BerniePortal?**

Bernie is overall a good platform but it's mobile application is really limited to usefor what can be done. You can't put sick day. And it gives problems to ingreate with other portals.

There are lot of problems that Bernie portal is solving it is very helpful in reducing paperforms, ability for each staff to review online or access their benefits has been useful

I love the option for automation and it is easily built in house

The charm service is awful. If you can get someone to answer you, chances are they don't know how to answer your question.

It's a great benefit admin tool to show employees to elect all benefits electrically

I really like that documents can be hosted. It's a great resource for the essentials, PTO, Benefits, and Time keeping.

**What do you dislike about BerniePortal?**

PTO times are difficult to change if scheduled and then canceled or rescheduled. A provision for editing PTO and then approval should be put in place.

Centralized source of information regarding benefits and document sources.

**What do you like best about BerniePortal?**

The system was initially built by brokers.

**What do you dislike about BerniePortal?**

Overall technology, customer support, feature roadmap, user interface, knowledge base, and pricing

**Recommendations to others considering BerniePortal:**

Bernie Portal should not be considered by any broker looking to implement a benefits administration system for their clients. Bernie Portal is more expensive than competitors and Bernie Portal provides outdated technology, subpar customer services, and zero plans for innovation to their benefits administration platform.

Our agency worked with Bernie Portal for over 2 years and quickly realized we had made a mistake. We were initially excited about the platform and onboarded 25% of our clients. During our time with Bernie Portal, we had four customer service representatives. None of our representatives appeared to have a background in insurance or technology and were oftentimes unresponsive or unable to assist with resolving issues. Our team was stuck delivering bad news to our clients based on Bernie Portal’s shortcomings and was always told by our Bernie Portal customer service representative that the request had been added to their roadmap, which seemed to be a black hole. 

The final straw with Bernie Portal came when the system locked up during an open enrollment period for one of our clients. We notified Bernie Portal that the system was preventing employees from accessing their open enrollment. As with all requests, after 24 hours of waiting, our customer service representative had to forward it to a separate area of the company. We did not receive a timeline for the issue to get resolved and our client’s open enrollment period was set to end at the end of the week. Fortunately, we were able to work with a different benefits administration platform to onboard our agency, complete training, and conduct open enrollment for our client who had been locked out of open enrollment by Bernie Portal before the deadline. We did not receive an update from Bernie Portal until two weeks after open enrollment had ended for our client. We never conducted another enrollment using Bernie Portal and spent the next two months migrating our clients to the new platform.

Additionally, many insurance carriers have abandoned the idea of investing or stopped investing in the further development of file feeds / marketplace programs with Bernie Portal. As a broker, you can find benefits administration platforms that carriers are actively building relationships with and investing in bi-directional capabilities. 

Please do your research before choosing Bernie Portal as your benefits administration provider. Do not fall for their claims to be a complete HRIS system. There are better benefits administration options on the market for a lower cost.

Benefits Administration solution that is not priced PEPM.

**What do you like best about BerniePortal?**

It got my company away from paper onboarding, benefit enrollment, and PTO tracking without the big investment in an HRIS, since our broker set it up for us. Honestly that is the only good thing about this system.

**What do you dislike about BerniePortal?**

This is a very basic system. It does not offer robust data analytics, which means I still have to create my own spreadsheets and formulas to calculate things like turnover. The notifications of benefit changes, pay changes, and terminations is not always sent to the broker so the benefits admin part has caused many billing errors. We can not use the I-9 feature since the system doesn't follow the guidelines per the government ,nor will they update it after I sent them the guidelines. This is a HUGE issue since a mistake is $110 a box for not having a "N/A." If there is a change to any tax documents, like the W4, I have to let them know to update that in the onboarding documents and send them the form. I shouldn't have to worry that the system I'm using is making us non compliant and could cause us fines if audited.

**Recommendations to others considering BerniePortal:**

I think the concept of BerniePortal is fine. It just lacks in so many ways to actual HRCMs that have HR professionals on staff, who know the laws and keep updated with the changes. Bernie was created by brokers as a solution to offer clients for benefit admin and decided to dabble in HR.

The only problem I am solving is less on-boarding paperwork.

I like that Bernie Portal is an all in one software solution for HRIS.

Some disadvantages of Bernie portal is the capabilities to integrate with certain carriers.

We are solving having a comprehensive system for our team.

**What do you like best about BerniePortal?**

The program is simple and very easy to navigate. When I first use it, I was amaze on how easy it was to follow. It's like filling out a paper form. The ability to have employees sign the document online is great. With different schedules for our employees the ability of them being able to do that online at their own convenient. The reports are simple to do and the best part is the customer support. They are very friendly and helpful. 

**What do you dislike about BerniePortal?**

So far it has worked well with us. We are in the process of the onboarding and if we have issues, I will definitely come and update my review. 

**Recommendations to others considering BerniePortal:**

If you are looking for something easy and non complicated for both administration and employees this is a program you may want to look at.

Simplification of our benefits management. Minimize paper forms, ability for each staff to review online or access their benefits has been helpful.

Its an online tracking system for employee management. It's nice to have that in digital format.

The mobile app is really limited for what you can do. For example, you can't put in a sick day.
