While it isn't a bad thing to be spartan, the functions the site does have should perform better. Running too many backups at once will crash our instance and we regularly have to reset logins. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed to be able to backup Google data from departed users and save costs from maintaining the inactive Google licenses. ### 5. Backups fail without letting the user know and support does not provide any info, they just want to resolve manually without looking at the root of the problem. Even worse, after you have users backed up, you'll be stuck with their monthly fee as there isn't a way to migrate or bulk-download the data. Every user you have backed up, you'll need to pay the fee for life or until you delete the archive. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** It's supposed to back up all of your Google Workspace data, however eventually we learned it's a horrible product. We are not alerted if backup fails, their support does not investigate and resolve issues. They have been on a "migration" to a new interface which ends up being an excuse for all the bugs. There is no ETA for completion. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** Be sure to clarify how archived and active accounts work. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not solving anything at all, we are cancelling our account. The best part of it is that with a simple interface we can manage every backup for all the tools: Email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** The only thing that I don't like is that the area regarding the account profile, billing details and invoice history is somewhat incomplete compared to similar tools. If I need this info I usually ask for it via email as it's not in the system. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were in the need of an unlimited backup tool to protect all of our Office 365 data and that it was easy enough to recover files, folders or all the data a user had with a few clicks, and Backupify does that. ### 8. Sometimes there is a delay when trying to navigate through the UI but that not something that is a big deal at this point. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed storage for the email data that we had without going in and manually saving everything. Also, with the alerting for CW Manage (auto-creation of tickets), there is some nuance needed to properly have them open up under the corresponding companies. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** Make sure that you are able to capture all the data necessary within the 365/Azure tenant that you need. Backupify is great, but it does not backup EVERYTHING, so just make sure you have a checklist. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a solution that we could embed into our managed services plan that we are comfortable with and has major backing. Backupify checked the boxes. Although they were just recently purchased by Kaseya, we are hoping that Datto's culture will continue. ### 11. Years earlier as we were putting more and more of our eggs into the MIcrosoft cloud basket, we needed an effective cloud backup and archival system. It's bulky and doesn't retain all the info from prior backups that are still showing in 1.0. We value our data very seriously and want to ensure it is professionally backed up. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** Over the 6 years or so that we have been with Backupify we have found that on a number of occasions backup have stopped. However for one user in our organisation {of 15 people} the google drive backup has stopped for some time and not been fixed. The only solution has been to change to version 2.0 which would split our back up which is not great solution. The main and more serious observation about this company is as followed:: 1. This issue has been escalated to support for ~ 5 months. 2. As there is development required from their side we have actually been told this is not a support issue and not covered by their SLA. We can only assume that this company do not value the size of our business to offer the proper customer care and we are paying for a service which isnt fully working. If you enter into an agreement with Backupify, be warned that if you have an issue, you might just be left high and dry. As they have your data, and the ability to switch is challenging, we are currently having to accept this service level although looking at switching options. We run a software business as well, we understand customer success is of the highest priority and this is not the case here. Edit: 30/11/21 - As a further note on the bad service we have received. Datto Backupify has forced us to move our backups to a new server. In itself, not an issue but we are not able to search any of our legacy data except via a full user export. After 8 months of support queries, they have said they will not do anything except raise a feature request. This means that the data we have paid to be backedup is realistically no longer available. The crux of this issue is that a backup data provider should be with you for the long term, and to be able to change their software to your detriment, with no recourse, puts any client at risk. Ultimately if you choose Datto backupify for your data backups, you might find they make changes putting your organisation at risk. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** Does the job but customer service has let us down. The service is not currently working and there is no impetus from Backupify to solve this. Our support tickets are just left un-prioritised. 30/11/21 - edit - Bewarned that they may change their software to your detriment at any time. They have removed granular access to our legacy backup data that we have paid for over the last 9 years. You need to be able to trust your data backup provider which is not the case with Datto Backupify. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Backups for g suite. After the initial installation and sync, the backups were pretty much in constant sync. Our clients never really had to deal with anything. They did not need to manually start anything, check anything, or do anything differently. They liked being able to rely on us to monitor everything on the back end. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** I last used this software in the Spring of 2021. At the time, we were NOT able to deploy to multiple computers easily. My agents needed to connect to each computer, run the installer, and then link the computer using a code that the online platform would create. If we were installing this on-site, then the agent sometimes needed to log in to their own agent account on the customer's computer. Which I did not like because you can never trust other people's computers, especially when it's a new client relationship. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Clients that needed to migrate their data to the cloud needed extra peace of mind that their files were still going to be there the next day. I had a few that were very wary of migrating to the cloud because they felt they were at the mercy of a singular platform. Datto Backupify provided redundancy for them, so they knew their files would be protected by a secondary source. ### 26. It also helped us when we got problem in our system and we had last option to reinstall the window in whole system and luckily we got all our data back. ### 30. I don't even need to worry about our data that resides in Office 365; whether it's email or OneDrive Backupify has our backs. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** I wish I could browse the message level backups within the console rather than needing to restore the entire mailbox as a new mailbox. I'd like to be able to drill down into the mailbox and search/pick and choose what messages to restore. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** It gives me reassurance that we won't lose anything to accidental deletion. It also has helped me restore some mailboxes that held vital information that would have been lost otherwise. **Official Response from Amanda Oles:** > Hi Greg! Backupify does provide administrators with granular restore options. For Exchange, you are able to select the inbox or individual emails. Additionally, you are able to select a list of search results. The entire mailbox can be restored for larger scale disaster events. These restores can be sent to the user making the request or to a different user (I.e., replacement/manager). For OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams, you will see a very uniform functionality where you can restore an individual file. I've asked your Customer Success Manager to check in and make sure that you are aware of this functionality. ### 31. It allows us to retain data for years, which is exactly what our org needs. We're able to both export and restore from our users' drives and that makes for easy data recovery. We have had quite a few broken links in our org and we're able to use the search feature to find the data we need. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** We had an issue where our shared drives would stop backing up because only group aliases were managers of the drive. We then learned we needed to have at least one named user/service account as a drive manager so that the connection could be re-made. This is something we didn't know up front, so we had a gap in a month or two of snapshots. The search leaves something to be desired. It seems to go by "contains", while also assuming that each keyword is separate. While that's hard to explain in text - if you're searching for "Employee Super Handbook", you'd get all things that had the words "Employee" ,"Super" and "Handbook", but even if you know the file name is "Employee Super Handbook", it won't pop up as the first data line item and you will have to sort by "Name" to get to the file you need. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Whenever we need to audit files in a user's drive, we can search through Backupify to see if the file existed in a previous snapshot. This is perfect because even if a user deletes the data at some point, we're able to recover it as long as we know the point in time that it existed within our org. ### 32. Anyone including non-technical users can log in and in minutes be backing up Office365 accounts. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** Some of the restore features are difficult to implement and if you're attempting to restore more than a few GB of data the software can fail. Basically, the basic backup and restore are simple and easy to use. But once you get to advanced scenarios like restoring dozens of GB of data or thousands of files you run into issues. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** I would recommend Datto Backupify to other organizations that leverage Office365, as their backup fills a critical need to ensure your organization doesn't lose critical data. Unless you're going to go with an add-on to your current backup platform this can be a quick win. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Prior to Datto, we were limited to the typical restore deleted files and then restore from the trash bin. However, if you didn't realize a file or set of files was missing in the first 30 days it became impossible to restore. Now with Datto, we can backup and restore in minutes files that users accidentally delete. ### 35. Excellent product. Very simple setup and pretty much a set and forget software. Administration is easy and really never much of an issue updating or changing settings. Also like the easy to read dashboard that is presented at login. It gives a nice overview of what is being backed up. I like that I can remove users from Google Workspace and the data will remain in Backupify indefinitely as an archive in case we ever need it. **What do you dislike about Backupify?** Interface is a little bit clunky and I really wish the search was a bit more robust. I really wish the search interface was modeled more after the gmail interface and included more search options for dates, attachments, and more advanced search parameters to help narrow down a search for a single item. I also had a heck of a time dealing with two factor identification on one of the administrator accounts. **Recommendations to others considering Backupify:** Yes, It is very simple and easy to use but some of the features are lacking especially search. But the price is right for the features you get and i has yet to fail us. **What problems is Backupify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Backing up Google Workspace data and archiving old users in order to free up google user accounts when an employee leaves. It does this task very well. I have not realized any additional benefits over what I expected from the initial demos, but that is ok. The simple interface is also a feature in itself. ### 46.
