Codestar provides strong features but mostly what you'd expect from AWS: decent version and project tracking. Obvious pros include easy connection to EC2, Lambda, and Elastic instances. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It lacks the adoption of Gitlab. AWS-centric, if you're using cross-platform services, pick another IDE. The time required to provision a new instance takes a while. Why do I like CodeStar? I'm not sure if this review will target everyone using AWS Code Star as I am a nontechnical user. I dabble in coding for my product team but it's not my main priority role or what I spend most of my day on. Disclaimer aside, I've enjoyed using AWS Code Star. My team and I have found the templates pretty intuitive and straightforward. My Dev Ops colleagues have been loving it even more than I have! The process from starting a project at log in to choosing a template is fairly straightforward and relatively intuitive. To be totally honest, since I'm not as much of a main user of the platform I have a hard time navigating the code. Whether that's a flaw of AWS Code Star or myself is a good question lol. It has taken us quite a bit of time for our applications to get up and running, which is frustrating when we're looking to make quick decisions and fast projects. This is not platform independent and can be used only in AWS infrastructure. We use GCP and Azure in our office and there is no option to use CodeStar there. I have been using it for 2-3 years , it basically glue that kind of binds all the services together in one like codecommit which is managed code repo , you can easily connect it with JIRA, it's pricing are very transparent where each service is priced separately , it also offers free CodeCommit service for first 5 users and for codepipeline it's $1 per month, you can use it from dashboard as well as from CLI !! Aws CodeStar is very powerful tool the best thing of CodeStar is how easy is it to use, it has all thing required to create a project, issues tracking, repository, online Ide, also i can set role to work mates and assign them task. One of the best thing is the way you can integrated with others tool of amazon, as codecommit, cloud9, ec2, etc. Is very easy to use and intuitive you can set task to the team members and give them access, assign role, there is also a issue tracking, is very complete online ide. Also the way of deploy app/websites can't be easier, with few clicks i can see my project running, and the best of all is you can test all these tools on free tier which is just amazing. Love that i don't need to download and install a ton of software on my laptop. In a few minutes, I can have a full cloud development environment wired up to a release pipeline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Doesn't seem to be fully integrates with all of the AWS services. For example, if you create a lambda project with an API gateway, it will update changes you make to the lambda function, but not the gateway. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
