We used Pinpoint for two purposes - sending cost effective marketing SMS to our clients, as well as marketing/transactional emails. The first is something I particularly like about Pinpoint - unlike with some other providers, it's very easy to provide biz proof and sign up for a number - plus submit whatever is legally required in your jurisdiction to send these messages. Sending emails is also pretty easy once you figure out how to upload contact lists etc. However theres a lot here there could be improved and we will cover that below. Pinpoint is a marketing solution at the core of it, however, it's not very easy to figure out beyond the basics for those big technically inclined. It took me forever to figure out how to upload contact lists and the right CSV format etc despite the extensive docs on it - I have STILL not figure out the code in the email templates etc out fully which is key to really getting marketing campaigns going. Their reporting is good, but nowhere near as granular as a lot of other AWS services and marketing wise again, this is key. Deliverability overall is very good, but these things are a bit of a drawback when compared with Twilio or other similar services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I first came across Pinpoint when I was looking for a complete email marketing solution. Although the system works - it could be improved in many regards. Deliverability though is one area where Pinpoint scored way above the other email marketing systems I used - email deliverability rates were always very high. Their templates and template setups are very clunky and not easy to use for non coders (as it should be). The reporting is also not the easiest to understand. Now I know Pinpoint is a relatively new AWS offering so they are likely working on improving these things, but overall, it left a lot to be desired when we used it. - User Segmentation with the help of attributes is a great feature to target desired cohorts

- Easy to integrate with other AWS services

- Extremely buggy UI, often showing wrong target endpoints count for each segment

- Poor Customer Support from Amazon for this tool. They seem to have given up on this

- Limited Non-AWS integration

The leading thing almost Amazon Pinpoint is its ability to enable focused on and personalized communication together with our clients. It permits us to send messages over numerous channels, such as mail, SMS, and thrust notices, guaranteeing that our message reaches to the targeted audience in the best possible way. The one thing that i dislike is its cost as it in not that much cost effective for small businesses.
