Project Resource Scheduling is where Avaza earns its place in our delivery process. Before committing to a new project, we can see who actually has capacity, how much of the week is already reserved, and which recurring responsibilities are quietly consuming time outside the new estimate. Recurring Schedule Bookings have made that view much more realistic for production support, architecture reviews, on-call coverage, and maintenance that repeats every week or month. We can update a single occurrence, the remaining bookings, or the entire series, and Avaza shows how many reservations will change before we confirm anything. That detail matters because technical capacity is rarely as simple as checking whether someone has another large feature assigned. A senior engineer may look free in the backlog while two mornings are already blocked for support, another client expects a weekly architecture session, and several pull requests still need review. Once those commitments are visible in Team Schedule, capacity planning stops depending on who remembers the most context or happens to be online when the conversation starts. The mobile experience is useful for checking a task, approving something, or logging time quickly, but I would not use it to rebalance capacity or review a project with a large task structure. Some parts of the interface also feel older than the rest of the product, and specific settings are not always where I expect them to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Avaza solving and how is that benefiting you? A migration from .NET Framework to modern .NET was already challenging, but it became even more complicated when we discovered that two services shared an internal bookstore without any testing, and the client also needed to maintain compatibility with an old integration for three more months. We kept the technical stories, pull requests, and pipelines in Azure DevOps, but in Avaza we split the project into discovery, modernization, compatibility testing, and deployment. We used Custom Project Statuses to clearly separate Client Validation from In Development, and we adjusted bookings in Project Resource Scheduling because the same senior engineer was also committed to recurring support on another account. Timesheets quickly showed that compatibility work was consuming almost twice as much effort as expected, so we updated the estimate for the second phase and used Quotes & Estimates to formalize the revised scope before continuing further development. We also created a Recurring Task to review migration risks weekly, along with a recurring backstop for the post-release support window. Overall, Avaza let us keep the technical detail where it belonged while still connecting it to capacity, hours, and billing. It reduced manual work between engineering, delivery, and finance, made the deviation visible before we lost margin, and gave us a clearer way to explain to the client why the plan needed to change. As a company who is moving from a software that just outrageously increased their pricing, we picked Avaza as the best fit for our company. I should also mention, we are on a time constraint to avoid the next charge on our billing cycle. As always, setting up is always time-consuming, especially when you have tens of thousands of records. After learning the software a bit, we had to ask for some help. The response has been tremendous. The help has been fast and thorough. We just have one more area to complete before we’re fully set up, but we’ll get there in plenty of time. Did I mention we had a time constraint? We also needed a software that had a native integration with Xero and Stripe. Avaza fulfilled both requirements. The price was also within our budget. There is an invoicing section which seems to be lacking features to make it fully useful. I have not been able to find the estimating section. It would be good if it was linked to from the main menu. To replace the need for accounting software it would need to include more features typically found in accounting software like Wave. Avaza has been a great fit for my consulting workflow. I’ve used it for over five years to manage time tracking, billing, and expenses across multiple clients, and the biggest hidden gem for me is how easy it is to enter hourly details and give clients visibility into exactly what I’m working on. That transparency makes billing cleaner and helps clients feel connected to the work without adding extra admin on my side. I also appreciate the flexibility in invoicing and payments. Some clients pay by wire transfer, some by check, and having the option for credit card payments is a big plus for the clients who prefer that route. I also have monthly clients who request a set number of hours, and Avaza makes it easy to switch between clients and keep everything organized. One area I’d like to see improved is expense documentation visibility for clients. When I upload receipt images for expenses, those backup images are not easily available for the client to download and review along with the invoice. Because of that, I usually have to send the receipts separately after billing, which creates extra manual work and adds another step for both sides. It makes time tracking, expense management, and invoicing much easier, which saves me a lot of administrative time and helps me focus more on client work. It also helps me bill accurately and consistently, which directly supports my revenue. The biggest benefit is transparency. Avaza allows me to give clients clear daily or weekly updates on the work being done, which helps build trust and keeps everyone aligned without a lot of back-and-forth. One important thing which I would want is that adding stakeholders within Avaza is a very complex thing, and you have to go into project settings and add one user at a time. I feel I should have an opportunity of adding multiple users inside the project setting in one go. Right now, I have to click one, save one, and then go back and then click the other person and save, and so that is a cumbersome process. And sometimes it's very irritating. I like Avaza's ability to export spreadsheets in a format that's ready to import into other project management activities. I also appreciate how easily I can report on people's time, which helps in managing our projects effectively. The initial setup of Avaza was very easy and made transitioning from our previous Excel-based processes smooth. It could provide additional layers (a tree of layers) of task complexity. At the moment, there's only two layers. There's project, work package and then task. There's no ability to have subtasks in the project plan. Additionally editing timesheets can be tricky as it is necessary to go into the individual log in order to modify (which can take a lot of time).
