&lt;p&gt;The pattern underneath the enterprise complaints in this category: the platform rarely breaks, the sprawl does. Technical debt from ungoverned citizen builders and licensing costs that balloon with adoption are both symptoms of the same missing decision: who is allowed to build, and who reviews what they built. A team that answers that before rollout can make most of these platforms hold up; a team that doesn&#39;t will reproduce the same mess on whichever one they pick.&lt;/p&gt;
