The recent updates to the interface (starting with v25) have really enhanced the user experience! **What do you dislike about Archibus?** The online documentation doesn't always provide answers to questions about functionality. It lacks information about certain processes. The documentation search utility is frustrating when searching for more than one word. Can only assign one security role per user, which leads to multiple roles that need to be set up and managed for users. **What problems is Archibus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Management of assets - which include buildings and equipment, better management of facility moves, service tickets, and preventative maintenance. The integration of the floorplans with the product allows for easier management of space throughout the facility and provides savings in space, which results in lower budget costs. ### 7. Archibus tech has provided a work around, but this still needs to be resolved as standard solution where it should support longer string out of the box. ### 8. I thought it was very easy to use and the customer service/help desk people were great to deal with; very helpful. **What do you dislike about Archibus?** There were times when I was placing a symbol on the floor plans and it was supposed to lock in place. The next time I opened the file the symbols were all on top of each other at 0,0. I called the help desk and they always did their best to help me out. **Recommendations to others considering Archibus:** I am sure the software has improved since I last used it 10 years ago. I would just verify the elements you place into your files are staying where you need them next time you open it. **What problems is Archibus solving and how is that benefiting you?** I worked on a project for New York Presbyterian Hospital using the software along with a few others to document their existing shut-off valves and equipment that controlled the medical gas in the building. ### 9. Where ARCHIBUS shines is in the power to easily customize and create entire new data sets / modules. This puts the power in the hands of the end users to build powerful and dynamic applications within the framework provided. ARCHIBUS is on a steady development cycle and is constantly building new applications and circling back to build on their success. Over the years I have been working with the software, it has grown tremendously from a Facilities specific application to a real enterprise solution, tacking everything from real estate and facilities to fleet and telecom management. In addition to the software, there is an amazing user community. Both the local user groups as well as the international user conference are amazing resources and inspire you to bring your own implementation forward. **What do you dislike about Archibus?** It would be very difficult to find something that I don't like about the software. If anything, the amount of flexibility in the product leads you to dream up customizations which you can't possibly complete with limited funds and resources, which can make it painful for the out of the box solution to catch up to your dreams. We have a few times forged ahead with a system modification on our own and see it introduced a few versions later in the stock product. That is the price of being on the bleeding edge I guess. ;) **Recommendations to others considering Archibus:** If you are looking for an enterprise level software which can meet very specific needs, ARCHIBUS is the one for you. Work with an experienced business partner and you will see powerful results. **What problems is Archibus solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are measuring performance of buildings, staff and contractors. Making well informed strategic decisions based on quality data. By adding mobile capabilities, we are seeing great improvements in customer service and response times. The return on investment calculations we have done for various module implementations have always been in the hundreds of percent range, which shows real value to senior management. ### 12. It was my experience with other software's in similar functions that however functional the baseline platform was there was always a gap in functionality that did not extended to the interface. ARCHIBUS was east to navigate and for the purposes of my role it served its purpose very well. It was my experience that we never ran into to many issues from a technical standpoint when using ARCHIBUS and overtime that functionality persisted. Which, in the context in which I was using the program, was very important. **What do you dislike about Archibus?** ARCHIBUS was easy enough to learn but I felt that there wasn't much more to the program after the initial introduction I received. Unlike some other tools I have utilized, ARCHIBUS did not have much in the way of customization after the intial set up. I would have liked to have been able to customize my interface more, to engage in more technical modifications of some of the program's features etc. Being able to have a tool that can be molded to business needs that are both dynamic and very intricate involves a level of modification I feel like ARCHIBUS did not effectively provide. **Recommendations to others considering Archibus:** Great platform that has served my department well. **What problems is Archibus solving and how is that benefiting you?** The context of my use of ARCHIBUS was in a primarily project management role. We have field crews that go out to perform scheduled cuts of a number of different properties and we needed to be able to track their progress and performance on a daily basis. After introducing ARCHIBUS we were able to track my more effectively which crews were more efficient at getting to their scheduled lots and where interruptions in workflow were happening most commonly. ### 13. Install the application, connect to the provided database and you have a great platform to start your IWMS journey. The mobile application is a GREAT way to extend ARCHIBUS access to all users in your organization. **What do you dislike about Archibus?** As 'wide' as ARCHIBUS goes, there are still some disconnected domains that could be better integrated - Portfolio planning integrated with Move Management, for example. **Recommendations to others considering Archibus:** Start with using ARCHIBUS out of the box. Many clients think that they need to customize the application, only to realize later that the *need* might not have been as necessary as originally thought. OR that more customization might need to be done to further *tweak* the changes originally made. Use the application as it exists - there's a TON of functionality built in - take some time to realize what really needs to be customized. **What problems is Archibus solving and how is that benefiting you?** As an implementer of ARCHIBUS, we work with our clients to solve many business related problems and issues. The flexibility with the application allows us to use the same modules to solve different problems with varying solutions. ### 14. It is supported by the company as well as an extensive and talented partner network providing all manner of services from turn-key to SaaS forms of implementation. The best features of the software are its logic being sound, and the ability to find experts in the software. **What do you dislike about Archibus?** Personally, coming from a CAD background, I would have liked to see the Overlay product maintain throughout all the past releases. Presently, that situation is moot, as ARCHIBUS has listened to the users, and done a great job and hearing and developing what is most requested. Kudos on ARCHIBUS for allowing growth to the web, as well as listening to client/server customers. **Recommendations to others considering Archibus:** For any IWMS software or CAFM software, it is critical to define your needs and goals with benchmarking. Creation of a well thought out project plan is paramount for expectations both internal and external to be met. Although the software is quickly learned, we have found that quite often, the end users are not familiar with every aspect of what the software is capable of. Not only will staff become more productive with ARCHIBUS through immersive training, but they will also become more proficient at Facilities Management. It is a win- win situation for all parties. Take the time, and you will end up with organic change for the better of your organization. My personal favorite activities are Space Management, CMMS, Asset tracking, Emergency Preparedness, and Real Property and Lease. There are other very impressive global offerings both SaaS, and client server. **What problems is Archibus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using mobility within the ARCHIBUS product and with its 3rd party add -on vendors, we have implemented occupancy and headcount tracking for global corporations lowering overall man hours in the neighborhood of 40% for data gathering. ### 15. It provide from top level report down to grain level, which meet either faculty users or corporate users' needs. The current version doesn't fit in well with user's need. The setup interface was too complex to use.
