I like that OpenAsset improves our team’s workflow efficiency by moving project and employee images and information off the server, while still letting us organize everything through its tagging and ranking system. The INDD plug-in is incredibly useful; it helps the team work faster and produce marketing assets more quickly.

The defined user groups and associated permission levels also give the marketing team peace of mind, since they can ensure that what goes into the system has been approved by them. They’re also able to control what can be used by other license holders within the firm, which is a big plus. Hopefully, this will allow people to access what they need without having to go to the marketing team every time.

Overall, the system performs well, and I’ve found it to be a very useful investment for the firm. While getting OpenAsset set up can be tedious depending on how many assets and how much historical project information you’re working with, the implementation and customer success managers are excellent and will guide you through the process. If your firm works with large volumes of historical project information and images, it can be challenging to pull everything together at the start—especially if those assets weren’t fully captured or organized in the first place. That said, the process of importing the information into OpenAsset is fairly straightforward. The bigger lift is the prep work: getting the files and details cleaned up and structured beforehand can be cumbersome and time-consuming if it hasn’t been managed well prior to the implementation. I love that OpenAsset integrates with InDesign. They've made a lot of updates to the Employee module, and we've recently added that package to help with building our Resumes. We've been working hard to ensure the right data is in Vantagepoint to pull from and now we're saving HOURS per month not having to manually maintain content outside of those platforms. I like OpenAsset because it gives us one place to go for project data, photos, and resumes instead of having to track things down across different folders or systems. There’s still some manual effort when it comes to maintaining and updating data, so more automation or an AI assistant for bulk updates and field population would be a great improvement. The upload process is not only intuitive, but the wide range of options for leveraging keyword taxonomies is incredible. It makes it easy to organize files by project, and to create standalone collections for company events or other unique content. I really like that it centralizes all our assets in one place and is incredibly easy for staff to use. It was simple to ramp up, and the image tagging feature makes searching much easier. OpenAsset has a lot of potential, but there are some challenges. The cost of customizing InDesign templates can be high, and the employee resume generation tool hasn’t quite met our needs. OpenAsset is extremely easy to set up, easy to learn, and has superb functionality. Their customer service responds immediately and typically resolves any questions or issues within a 24-hour period. The only issue our company has encountered was the initial setup by OpenAsset of our material, which resulted in a lot of files being misplaced under different projects. We have had to manually move the files as we find them, resulting in files we believe are missing, but are just misplaced.
