"Effective Embedded Reporting with Jaspersoft"
What do you like best about Jaspersoft?

Strong Ad Hoc Reporting:

Ad Hoc views are flexible and allow business users to create reports without deep technical knowledge.

Pixel-Perfect Reports:

PP views work well for formatted, regulatory, and printable reports with consistent layouts.

Good Integration Capability:

Integrates well with existing applications via APIs and supports embedding reports.

Multiple Export Options:

Supports PDF, Excel, CSV, and other formats, which is useful for business users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

Scheduling & Authentication Limitations:

Scheduling reports (especially with SSH/private key authentication) can be complex and sometimes unreliable.

Performance Issues with Large Data:

Ad Hoc reports may become slow when working with large datasets or complex joins.

User Interface Complexity:

The UI is not very intuitive for new users and requires training to use effectively.

Limited Modern Visualization:

Charting and visualization capabilities are basic compared to modern BI tools.

Upgrade & Hotfix Dependency:

Certain issues require vendor hotfixes, which increases dependency on TIBCO support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"TIBCO Jaspersoft: A Senior Quality Analyst’s Review of Capabilities and Challenges."
What do you like best about Jaspersoft?

TIBCO JasperReports Server is an enterprise-grade reporting platform that offers advanced scheduling and distribution capabilities, enabling secure report delivery via email or SFTP in compliance with organizational and customer policies. The platform provides robust security features, including role-based access control and multi-tenancy, making it suitable for large-scale, multi-client environments. It supports multiple export formats such as PDF, CSV, and XLSX, facilitating flexible data utilization across business functions. With strong pixel-perfect reporting capabilities and configurable reports and dashboards through built-in editors, JasperReports Server is well suited for organizations requiring accurate, automated, and secure reporting.

From a visualisation perspective, Jaspersoft primarily delivers more traditional and static reporting. It does not yet offer the level of advanced interactivity, dynamic dashboards, drill-down capabilities, or exploratory analytics features that have become commonplace in modern business intelligence solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

Despite its strengths, TIBCO JasperReports Server has several limitations that may affect overall user experience when compared with modern business intelligence and visualization platforms. The user interface is relatively dated and less intuitive, which can make report development and navigation challenging for non-technical users. Performance constraints may emerge when processing large datasets or complex reports, often necessitating additional backend optimization to achieve acceptable rendering and export performance. Furthermore, the platform’s visualization and interactive dashboard capabilities are limited, offering fewer self-service analytics features than tools such as Power BI or Qlikview. A steep learning curve and gaps in documentation can also slow user onboarding and issue resolution. Some times clients are fasing intrackable schedule email failer as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

""Powerful and flexible reporting tool with great customization options""
What do you like best about Jaspersoft?

What I like best about Jaspersoft is its robust and flexible reporting capabilities, which have significantly improved with the JasperReports Server 9.0 upgrade. Many security issues have been fixed, making the platform more stable and secure. The upgrade also provides better UI responsiveness, improved user experience, and more options to customize report columns and layouts. Overall performance, compatibility with modern browsers and databases, and handling of complex reports have also improved, making it well-suited for enterprise reporting needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

The initial setup can be a bit complex for new users, and documentation could be more beginner-friendly. Performance may slightly lag when handling very large datasets or complex queries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Auseh Britt of Jaspersoft

Thank you for your review Santhiya. We're happy to hear you are benefiting from Jaspesoft's level of customization and its versatility in connecting with data sources. The ability to embed into other applications and to provide self-service reporting to end-users are popular features amongst our customers.

We also appreciate the feedback on the documentation and it is something our team is currently working on.

"TIBCO Jasper Reports Server- A Product Manager’s Perspective After 4 Years of Real-World Use"
What do you like best about Jaspersoft?

I would like to highlight Jaspersoft’s flexibility and robust reporting capabilities, particularly following our recent upgrade from version 8.0.3 to 9.0.0. This upgrade introduces significant security enhancements, performance improvements, new features, and a redesigned user interface. These updates allow us to fully leverage a modernized layout, improved navigation, and enhanced usability for end users.

Jaspersoft continues to support complex, highly customizable reports across multiple data sources. Key features such as multi-tenancy and report scheduling significantly streamline operations and enable efficient report automation. In addition, functionalities like multi-select options and the ability to show or hide files within reports have been well received by our customers, enabling faster report usage and customization.

Overall, these enhancements and the platform’s adaptability make Jaspersoft a more user-friendly and effective reporting solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

While Jaspersoft’s adaptability and ongoing upgrades have improved usability and effectiveness, there are areas that present opportunities for further enhancement. The user interface, although functional, appears dated when compared to modern visual BI and report-building tools.

Additionally, performance and scalability challenges have been observed when working with very large datasets. Query execution and report generation times tend to increase significantly, and overall performance may lag behind in-memory analytics platforms such as Power BI or Qlik. Furthermore, scheduling high volumes of reports can place considerable strain on server resources if not carefully configured.

From a visualization standpoint, Jaspersoft offers more basic and static reporting capabilities. It lacks the advanced interactive dashboards, drill-down functionality, and exploratory analytics features that are now standard in contemporary business intelligence tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Michelle Rudd of Jaspersoft

Thank you for sharing your experience and providing +feedback. The Jaspersoft engineering team is continuously working to deliver improvements that streamline reporting and drive effective decision making. A core pillar to our roadmap is creating a more modern, user-friendly UI across the JasperReports Server and Web Studio so they’re easily accessible for all users.

"Jaspersoft for Operational Reporting: Flexible and Powerful"
What do you like best about Jaspersoft?

I primarily use Jaspersoft for operational reporting. I appreciate its flexibility and integration capabilities, as it allows me to connect to a wide range of data sources, from traditional RDBMS to big data platforms and cloud services. This is invaluable for operational reporting. The REST APIs are a game changer for automation and embedding, enabling customization based on our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

I feel like the UI and usability of Jaspersoft could be improved. The interface feels somewhat dated and can be unintuitive for some new users. Another thing is the learning curve; while powerful, Jaspersoft has a steep learning curve, especially for advanced features like custom expressions and custom queries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Michelle Rudd of Jaspersoft

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and feedback, for Jaspersoft. It is great to hear you are happy with the software and that it meets your reporting needs!

"The best reporting tool to get the detailed analysis of a software (Analytics Tool)"
What do you like best about Jaspersoft?

One of the standout features of Jaspersoft is its robust and comprehensive framework for reporting. It supports a wide range of functionalities that are often difficult to achieve with other reporting tools. Users can extract data in multiple formats including graphs, PDF, Excel, and CSV, providing great flexibility for analysis and distribution.

Jaspersoft also offers powerful scheduling capabilities, allowing reports to be automatically generated and delivered via email or SFTP at specified times. The Domain feature adds an extra layer of convenience and security, enabling access to the database based on predefined roles and permissions.

The platform is user-friendly and straightforward to implement. Creating and deploying new reports is a seamless process, making it highly efficient for developers and analysts alike. In cases where support is needed, Jaspersoft provides access to dedicated support engineers who are readily available to help troubleshoot and resolve any issues.

In our case, Jaspersoft is integrated with our core Java application, allowing users to access reports directly after logging into the main system. This integration was simple and effective. Specifically, for the Symplr ShiftSelect product, Jaspersoft plays a crucial role. Hospital administrators rely on it daily to review audit data, and many essential reports are scheduled on an hourly basis for continuous monitoring.

Overall, Jaspersoft is a highly recommended tool for any software company looking to implement reliable and scalable reporting solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

Currently, there are no major drawbacks to highlight. However, it would be beneficial if Jaspersoft offered more flexible or discounted licensing options, especially for organizations integrating it into their products. This could help reduce the overall cost impact and make the solution more accessible for a wider range of businesses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Auseh Britt of Jaspersoft

Thank you for your review Jishnu. Happy to hear you are successfully using several of our product features, like report scheduling, self-service reporting for your end users, embedding.

"Robust Reporting and Visualization with Room for Improvement"
What do you like best about Jaspersoft?

I liked the Data Visualization and Reporting, especially the use of HTML5 charts. We had the requirement for Heatmaps, which got achieved with the inclusion of table elements and dynamic reports. The setup was quite easy, and regular responses from the support portal helped a lot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

It would be helpful if we had more ways to explore, we could expose the Dashboards out of the JRS along with the filters of that particular Dashboards. Also, currently, we do not have the second level drill for a dashboard, it would be good if we have that feature for the dashboard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Auseh Britt of Jaspersoft

Thank you for your review Mohammad. Sounds like the high level of report customization is a key criteria and I happy to hear Jaspersoft is delivering for you.

"Scalable Reports & Perform the better optimized dashboard activities"
What do you like best about Jaspersoft?

Its capability to provide powerful, pixel-perfect reporting stands out, all while maintaining impressive flexibility and being straightforward to embed within other applications. The platform accommodates a broad array of data sources and allows for extensive customization thanks to its open and extensible architecture. Integration with Java and REST APIs is seamless, making it particularly reliable for producing high-quality documents, such as invoices, regulatory reports, and operational summaries, in enterprise settings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

Jaspersoft is that its user interface can feel dated and less intuitive compared to modern BI tools, report design often has a steep learning curve—especially for non-technical users—performance tuning can be complex for large or highly dynamic reports, and advanced features or scalability typically require the commercial edition, which can increase cost and limit flexibility for some teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Auseh Britt of Jaspersoft

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. Happy to hear you have been able to create and embed pixel-perfect reporting for your users at scale. We are taking note about the need to update our documentation and it is something our team is currently working on.

Enhanced performance and better compatibility with modern technologies make Jaspersoft a reliable choice for enterprise reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jaspersoft?

Some advanced features require a steep learning curve, and community support can be limited compared to other BI tools. Also, UI design in some modules feels slightly outdated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
