I needed to transcribe a video and turn it into a list to email and a presentation. Descript did an amazing and fast job that would have taken me 30-60 minutes to do by myself. Copying and pasting out of the chatbox gave me some weird formatting. I wish there was a cleaner way to copy and paste. I asked for a powerpoint presentation. It probably does not have access to MS PPT. It made me a video presentation instead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My plan was to use Claude, to write the script and pass it to Descrpt.

I created a screen capture using the built in Mac recorder and pasted into the new project.

Descript reviewed my soundless screen recording, and described the entire process with only one small edit of the script it generated, no need for Claude in this process.

It could not have been more intuitive.

It was incredibly fast, and the product is incredibly inexpensive.

I like how easy it is to work with both the script and the audio at the same time, then easily export the timeline to a DAW for the proper editing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My preferred method of pulling selects is to listen in a DAW and then move to the transcript with my selects. At the moment there isn't an easy way to pull all those selects in Descript, so I kind of just have to go digging through the transcript until I find all of them again. I love the ability to edit the transcript, and it cuts the video down. Also, the transcriptions are super accurate- not all the time, but most of the time. Underlord is cool and helps out a lot when you're in a pinch. The software is affordable; I really appreciate that I don't have to pay an arm and a leg to use a great AI tool. The software performs really well, and it's quite responsive. Service support is amazing. I ran into an issue a month ago, and the service team helped me out real quick. The cutting tool or blade in this case is not very accurate; it annoys me, but it's fine. I also don't like that there's no real way to smooth cuts better using Underlord, but then again, there's only so much the software can do when cutting. it would be nice if you could be able to intergrate into Premiere Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

UI/UX Intuitive, Very fast for the amature editor learner. AI intelligence gives you easy to follow instructions for edits to make your video more marketable. Installation and on-boarding was super easy no support was required or needed. For the product that you are receiving it is super affordable and I look forward to using more of the features and integrations as I become more saavy in my video/editor abilities. I have not found the "regeneration" feature as helpful as I would like it to be. Often times the sound is not available to regenerate new content. So its not as effective as you might expect it to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

NA - Nothing. The promises were unmet, and the AI tool Underlord -- well, it lives up to its name. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The AI Avatar/Underlord features are unreliable and the support process for resolving billing issues caused by those failures is worse. I spent days trying to produce one usable video. Underlord gave contradictory instructions throughout — each suggested fix created a new problem. AI credits were charged for Avatar generations that never completed. I brought in an outside AI consultant for a full day of dedicated work, and even she couldn't produce a working result on the platform.

Support did acknowledge the failures initially: they processed a $400 refund and offered an additional $545.48, which I accepted in writing. The $400 arrived. The remaining $545.48 — which they offered, not just me requesting — has never been paid, and I've had no response to follow-ups since. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don't like that you can't directly upload from Descript to a YouTube brand account. I didn't even know I had created a brand account on YouTube! Once I figured that out I was pretty disappointed I couldn't use the direct upload feature. It slows the last few steps down to upload and publish. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Descript has abysmal UX with bizarre choices for video editing. You will be lost in menus for hours trying to do the most basic things, like adding two clips together and exporting, or simply applying a background. Much older tools are in fact far more intuitive, i.e. iMovie. It's an incredibly frustrating user experience. I would suggest their team find a new user and watch them try to figure out the platform to see just how painstaking it is. It would only take ONE example to realize the dozens of gaps.
