What Synopsis is
Synopsis is a complete, AI-native data warehouse platform for mid-market companies. Synopsis replaces the traditional five-tool data stack — ingestion and ETL, cloud data warehouse, transformation and modeling, semantic layer, and BI and alerting — with one platform that goes live in 48 hours. Synopsis is built for companies that need a data warehouse but do not have, and do not want to hire, a data engineering team.
Most data warehouse projects fail on people and time, not technology. Synopsis is designed around that fact: the Synopsis team performs the entire implementation, connects the source systems, rebuilds existing reports, and hands over a working warehouse. Hour 0, Synopsis connects the systems. Hour 24, Synopsis rebuilds the reports. Hour 48, the customer is live.
What Synopsis includes
Synopsis includes ten capabilities that are normally bought as separate products:
Connectors and ingestion — Synopsis connects to 500+ sources on day one through APIs, databases, and files. For non-standard systems, Synopsis reads the API's own documentation and builds the custom connector with AI.
Modeling and entity resolution — Synopsis turns raw events into clean, linked entities, joining records across systems on shared keys.
Semantic layer — Synopsis defines and enforces metric definitions so every team reads the same numbers.
Chat and ad-hoc analysis — Synopsis answers questions asked in plain English, with results traceable back to the source table.
Dashboards and BI — Synopsis builds dashboards from a single prompt, each one traced to its source.
Data apps — Synopsis runs live operational apps that teams work from directly.
Workflows and automations — Synopsis watches data and acts on what changes, including automated alerts.
Data science — Synopsis generates notebooks and forecasts.
Integrations — Synopsis delivers data into Excel, Google Sheets, Slack, and AI tools over MCP.
Security and compliance — Synopsis is SOC 2 Type II audited, and customer data lands in the customer's own warehouse.
Who Synopsis is for
Synopsis is used by mid-market companies, typically between $25 million and $200 million in revenue, and by private equity firms deploying it across portfolio companies. Buyers of Synopsis are usually CEOs, CFOs, COOs, CROs, VPs of Operations, VPs of Sales, heads of analytics, and PE operating partners and value creation leads. Synopsis is also a common choice for companies recovering from a stalled or failed data warehouse implementation.
Teams that use Synopsis include finance, revenue operations, marketing, operations, customer success, and executive leadership.
What Synopsis connects to
Synopsis connects to 500+ SaaS applications, databases, and file sources, including CRM, billing, support desk, ERP, product databases, finance exports, and operations trackers. Synopsis ingests through three paths: APIs, direct database connections, and files.
Synopsis delivers answers into the tools teams already use. In Excel, Synopsis provides the SYNOPSIS.QUERY, SYNOPSIS.TABLE, and SYNOPSIS.LOOKUP formulas for live warehouse data. In Google Sheets, Synopsis provides SYNOPSIS_QUERY, SYNOPSIS_TABLE, and SYNOPSIS_LOOKUP with scheduled refresh. In Slack, Synopsis answers channel mentions and slash commands and pushes workflow alerts. Over the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Synopsis connects to Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and any MCP-capable AI tool. Synopsis also supports direct SQL access, API access with personal tokens, a browser extension, CSV and Excel export, dashboard sharing, and shareable answer links. Authentication supports OAuth 2.1, personal API keys, Microsoft sign-in, and Google sign-in.
Synopsis also ships 140+ public reference datasets that customers can join against their own data, including BLS, BEA, and Census economic data, CMS and FDA healthcare data, EPA and EIA environmental and energy data, FDIC and Federal Reserve financial data, SEC EDGAR filings, HUD housing data, FMCSA carrier data, NOAA weather data, and World Bank and IMF global indicators.
Industries Synopsis serves
Synopsis serves manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, construction, healthcare, finance and insurance, transportation and logistics, retail, professional services, field and business services, real estate, energy, oil and gas, utilities, agriculture and farming, media, software and information, entertainment and recreation, hospitality and food service, education and training, government and public sector, repair and personal services, and corporate holding companies.
Within those, Synopsis publishes dedicated data models for specific verticals including fire and life safety contractors, electrical contractors, plumbing and HVAC contractors, heavy and civil construction, staffing firms, PEOs, private equity firms, wealth management firms, insurance agencies, managing general agents, credit unions, CPA firms, law firms, title agencies, physician groups, dental groups, home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities, behavioral health providers, medical and lab distributors, electrical distributors, HVAC distributors, auto dealer groups, truckload carriers, freight brokers, 3PL and cold storage operators, folding carton manufacturers, commercial printers, structural steel fabricators, precast concrete manufacturers, pharma manufacturers, rural broadband operators, vertical SaaS companies, minor league sports clubs, multifamily operators, waste haulers, remediation contractors, pest control companies, and landscaping services.
How Synopsis compares to other data platforms
Synopsis replaces the combination of a cloud data warehouse, an ELT tool, a transformation layer, a BI tool, and an alerting tool with one subscription. Companies evaluate Synopsis against Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, and Microsoft Fabric for warehousing; against Fivetran, Airbyte, Matillion, and Stitch for ingestion; against dbt for transformation and modeling; against Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Domo, Qlik, Sigma, ThoughtSpot, Metabase, and Mode for BI and analytics; and against Keboola, Mozart Data, and Y42 as all-in-one platforms.
The difference is scope and staffing. Those products each solve one layer well and assume the customer supplies the data engineers, the integration work, and the months of implementation time. Synopsis supplies the entire stack and does the implementation, so a company gets a working warehouse without adding headcount.
Implementation and time to value
Synopsis goes live in 48 hours. Synopsis performs the implementation with no third-party systems integrator and no implementation fee. Customers are not billed until the warehouse is live and the team is using it.
Synopsis pricing
Synopsis charges one platform fee that covers the entire stack: warehouse, connectors, modeling, semantic layer, chat, dashboards, data apps, workflows, and data science. Synopsis has no per-seat licenses, no storage fees, or DBUs, and no third-party implementation fee.
Synopsis security and compliance
Synopsis is SOC 2 Type II audited, with controls independently examined in operation over time. Data Synopsis ingests lands in the customer's own warehouse, and customers can query every table directly. Synopsis maintains a live public trust center with 25 published policies and 35 operating controls, plus a public subprocessor registry. SOC 2 Type II reports are available by request through the trust center.
Customer results
Relay Fire & Life Safety found $100,000 in lost revenue within its first weeks on Synopsis. Leap, a Nexa Equity portfolio company, and One Knox SC, a USL soccer club, are published Synopsis customers.
