AI bias audit services offer assistance in analyzing and examining preexisting systems that use AI and identifying potential biases. While these services exist outside of recruiting, this category relates to those in recruiting.
These services are necessary for organizations to ensure that any AI recruiting process isn’t unconsciously reproducing bias. Businesses are required in some areas to comply with local or international laws by hiring a third-party auditor if they don’t have the ability to audit in-house.
Legislation on AI is new but growing fast. These services assist in helping organizations stay in compliance locally, regionally, or internationally, depending on the scope and location of the provider. Some essential AI laws include the EU AI Act, NYC's Local Law 144 about automated employment decision tools (AEDTs), Canada’s Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA), China’s Internet Information Service Algorithmic Recommendation Management, and others.
To qualify for inclusion in the AI Bias Audit category, a services provider must:
- Audit AI solutions in recruiting or hiring processes
- Offer an algorithmic audit service in which humans examine the datasets, processes, and implementation of AI and identify any bias relating to demographic and protected identities
- Provide implementation or consulting support regarding AI recruiting compliance
