Skimrr is a desktop app that organizes duplicate and blurry photos on local computers while operating offline to ensure privacy. It addresses three key issues: detecting exact duplicates via file fingerprints, grouping near-duplicates like raw files and JPEGs, and identifying blurry images. Blurriness detection scores sharpness tile by tile, avoiding mislabeling photos with soft backgrounds, such as portraits. Sensitivity is adjustable, and borderline cases remain visible for review. Duplicate detection groups identical files by fingerprint and matches near-duplicates by visual similarity, suggesting which version to keep based on file type, resolution, and sharpness. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and raw files like ARW, CR2, NEF, and DNG. Flagged files are moved to a local trash folder for review before permanent deletion. Skimrr works on macOS and Windows.
