Motive’s biggest strength for me is the freedom it gives a fleet manager or systems designer to build tools and reports beyond Motive’s existing plug-and-play reporting. In the past, I’ve run into issues with other telematics software companies denying me access to, or practical use of, my own data. With those providers, custom reporting was essentially hidden behind email threads, and trying to explain the report I wanted to someone else often ended with me giving up on creating the more specific reports and metrics my company needs to properly assess performance, usage, cost per mile, cost per job, and costing by vehicle type or department. Those are critical accounting inputs for a business with multiple revenue-generating departments, and they simply weren’t available to me before. With Motive Analytics, I can control the sandbox of vehicle metrics myself, and Motive has also provided technical support and shown genuine interest in helping develop these ideas through to completion.
