Fraps is an excellent video capture and recording application that I use especially for games or performance tests. The application has a great ability to capture DirectX and Vulkan on Windows. From the same window we want to record, it is possible to start or stop the recording through a hotkey or a shortcut previously assigned in the application. It is also possible to do this with the FPS counter that we can see live and that measures the application's performance. Another important feature that can help make the video clearer is not allowing audio recording. This option is enabled by default, so it is recommended to disable it.

It is quite simple to use due to its simplified interface since it is basically an application for recording video and audio of desktop or applications in full screen as videogames or multimedia, although it does not have a large amount of configuration options I consider that they are not necessary because it is very well optimized by default and I have not felt the need to make changes. The application generates uncompressed videos with the maximum visual quality, although the size of these videos is a big thing, so it is necessary that later they are compressed using the MKV codec that allows to reduce the size without losing video quality. In terms of resource consumption, it is very limited since it only uses very little CPU because it does not compress the video.

The facility to make use of the application since its interface is not complicated at all and then we can fully understand the operation of the program. Personally I use it mostly to measure the FPS in all kinds of applications such as blender renderings, videos and some video game demo. As an FPS meter it works very well and I like it a lot because it shows the counter in the corner that we decide and can even be changed through a previously configured keyboard shortcut. The rate of FPS shown is very accurate and I have checked comparing it with other applications so after confirming this I have used this application definitively to make the measurements.
