Consistent Deployments and Faster Onboarding with Docker & Compose

Docker has made deploying and running our backend services far more consistent across environments, from local development through staging and production. The UI for Docker Desktop is simple enough for the whole team to manage containers without needing deep DevOps expertise, and Docker Compose lets us spin up our full stack, including databases and dependent services, with a single command. Integration with our CI/CD pipeline and cloud infrastructure has been smooth, and performance overhead compared to running services natively is minimal once things are configured properly. Being open-source with a free tier for most of our use cases also makes it a strong ROI choice, since we don't need enterprise features to get real value from it. Onboarding new developers has gotten noticeably faster since everyone works from the same containerized environment instead of manually configuring dependencies.

What is Docker?

Docker Inc. is a technology company known for developing Docker, a platform that enables developers to build, distribute, and run applications inside containers. Containers package an application, along with its dependencies, into a standardized unit of software, ensuring that the application works seamlessly in any environment. Docker’s comprehensive end-to-end platform supports containerization, allowing for greater flexibility and efficiency in application development and deployment processes. This approach greatly simplifies the challenges of compatibility and maintenance in software development, thereby enhancing productivity and speeding up the deployment cycles. Docker Inc.'s solutions are widely embraced in the DevOps community for their ability to support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
