I’m still a fan of the DO ecosystem. The UI continues to feel like the gold standard for cloud consoles: clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate. Onboarding is also a strong point, especially for teams. It’s straightforward to invite a new developer and get them productive quickly, without a big learning curve.
On the technical side, performance has been consistently solid, and the NVMe storage on the higher tiers really moves. Pricing feels fair overall, and the 2026 shift to per-second billing was a huge win for my batch-processing jobs. I do wish there were a few more native integrations for some of the more niche security tools, but the API is robust enough that I can usually script around the gaps. Support can be a bit slow on the free tier when it isn’t an emergency, but the platform is reliable enough that I rarely need to open a ticket in the first place. I’m not a fan of how Managed Databases are priced—the jump in cost when you need more storage or a standby node feels pretty steep. And while the UI is great overall, their App Platform can still be a bit of a “black box” when builds fail. The logs aren’t always helpful, and sometimes you end up stuck in a “deployment pending” loop with no clear way to debug it other than nuking the service and starting over.
