What do you like best about Zeffy?

The most helpful thing about Zeffy is that it is FREE. But then above and beyond THAT, it is so much for than just a online donation platform. You can track so many different things with Zeffy. You can create and send your Newsletters, create events with tickets and sale items, create an online auction fundraiser. And new things are added all the time. I find the website sometimes difficult to navigate. The Newsletter formatting or creation area is not especially user friendly for a novice like myself. "Zeffy is a game-changer for nonprofits!"

What do you like best about Zeffy?

Zeffy has made such a major impact on our organization. They provide kind and caring support and resources for nonprofits and when you need help, you get to talk to a real person. We have used Zeffy for I believe 4 years now and we couldn't be more grateful for the benefit that they have been for us. What do you dislike about Zeffy?

The only downside about zeffy is that the optional contribution to the platform, that is optional, is often not understood by donors. I have gotten many emails saying "15% to the platform is really high!" Because they didn't see this was optional. When I reached out to the organization about it they said that this is how they support their program and would not be changing it back to the previous version that was maybe more user friendly. This feels a little predatory to me because many users are not tech savvy and this set up takes advantage of people who want to help. What we love most about Zeffy is that it allows Happy Tails Dachshund Rescue to raise funds without losing a portion of every donation to platform fees. It's easy for our supporters to use and gives our small, volunteer-run rescue more tools to fundraise while ensuring more of every dollar can go directly toward the dachshunds in our care. What problems is Zeffy solving and how is that benefiting you?

Zeffy solves two big nonprofit problems for us: keeping fundraising costs down and avoiding a patchwork of separate tools.

We use it for ticketed and free events, direct donation campaigns, online stores, memberships, and supporter management. We could also use it for peer-to-peer fundraising such as walk-a-thons, and online auctions if we decided we wanted that in the future. Its Organization Page also provides a useful single place to group and share our active campaigns — particularly valuable for other organizations that do not have another central website or promotion hub.

The biggest benefit is that Zeffy provides all of this without platform or payment-processing fees, so more of the money raised supports our nonprofit rather than service charges. It also reduces administrative work: instead of managing multiple systems for ticketing, donations, sales, and fundraising, we can work from one platform.

We have used Zeffy since mid-2024, and it has improved a great deal in that time. The team has been consistently responsive when we have found bugs, needed support, or suggested features; they have regularly added useful new functionality, including ideas we suggested or voted up. There has sometimes been manual work to update older campaigns or settings to take advantage of newer features, but organizations starting today will be able to benefit from a much more mature and capable product from the outset.

It is also a meaningful advantage to us that Zeffy is a Canadian company.

My one significant concern is the checkout experience for the voluntary contribution that helps keep Zeffy free. I understand why Zeffy needs that funding and appreciate that the experience has improved, but it still feels more opt-out than opt-in and does not make the $0 choice sufficiently clear. What do you like best about Zeffy?

Using Zeffy has simplified our fundraising efforts. Through their easy-to-use dashboard, we have the ability to pull detailed financial reports, create and maintain mailing lists, send out instant communications to retain feedback, create thank you notes within the system and create flyers and other materials to execute your fundraiser seamlessly. What do you like best about Zeffy?

Zeffy has been a great platform that handles all our main events; our fun run (with individual or team pages), our fall festival (with entry and activity ticket purchases along with check-in capabilities and our auction at the end of the year, which also includes event tickets. The platform manages our tax receipts and is easy to download reports for accounting and event purposes. Everything with Zeffy has been straightforward and helpful. The two opportunities I see are it only allows you 50 auction items and they don't get categorized and you can not combine a raffle, an auction and event tickets on the same page, so multiple links have to be used for the same event. What do you like best about Zeffy?

Zeffy has been a game changer for our ministry! As a small faith-based nonprofit, every dollar matters. Every dollar we receive represents an opportunity to serve, support our community, and accomplish the work of ministry. Having a platform that is free to use, including covering the usual Stripe processing fees, means more of those dollars go directly toward our mission rather than administrative costs.

Beyond the financial savings, I genuinely appreciate how quickly we were able to get started. The platform is intuitive and user-friendly, and the built-in templates, helpful prompts, reporting tools, notifications, messaging features, and automation make managing fundraising and donor engagement significantly easier.

These are powerful capabilities for smaller organizations like ours that often operate with limited staffing, volunteer support, and resources. Zeffy gives us access to tools that might otherwise be financially out of reach.

What do you dislike about Zeffy?

While I am very pleased with Zeffy overall, there are two areas where I would welcome improvements.

First, I would love greater flexibility in customizing landing pages. Additional options for layouts, branding, and design would help organizations create a more personalized experience that better reflects their identity and mission.

Second, and more importantly, I wish the default suggested contribution to Zeffy at checkout were either lower or customizable by the nonprofit. I understand and appreciate that these optional contributions help make Zeffy's fee-free model possible. However, we have experienced challenges with donor adoption because of how the suggested contribution appears during checkout.

Some donors see the additional amount added to their total, do not realize that the contribution to Zeffy is optional or that they can change it, and abandon the transaction altogether. This is particularly concerning for small nonprofits like ours, where every contribution matters.

A lower default suggestion, the ability for nonprofits to customize the suggested amount, or clearer communication that the contribution is optional would help reduce confusion and prevent lost donations.

I genuinely want to see Zeffy succeed because its model is tremendously valuable to organizations like ours. Addressing these issues would make an already excellent platform even more effective and accessible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Zeffy is helping us solve one of the biggest challenges facing small faith-based nonprofits: how to maximize limited financial and human resources while effectively carrying out our mission.

As a small church, we depend heavily on the generosity of our members, supporters, and community partners. Every dollar matters, and traditional payment processing fees can quietly consume resources that would otherwise support ministry, outreach, and community service. Zeffy's fee-free model allows us to retain 100% of the contributions we receive, making every gift go further.

Equally important, Zeffy helps address the administrative challenges of operating with limited staff and volunteers. Its user-friendly platform, ready-made templates, automated communications, reporting, and donor management tools allow us to accomplish tasks that would otherwise require additional time, personnel, or multiple software subscriptions.

What do you like best about Zeffy?

What I love most about Zeffy is that it's truly designed with nonprofits in mind. As a Parent Teacher Organization, every dollar we raise matters, and being able to accept online payments without transaction fees for our organization or our families is a HUGE benefit. It allows us to keep more of the money we work so hard to raise and put it directly back into supporting our students, staff, and school community. I also love how easy it is to use for event registrations, ticket sales, and fundraising. Zeffy makes managing these things so much simpler for our volunteer-run organization! What do you dislike about Zeffy?

The one thing I’m not particularly fond of is the optional tip feature that Zeffy presents to users during checkout. I completely understand why it exists and appreciate that it allows Zeffy to offer its services to nonprofits without transaction fees. However, I do worry that it can be confusing for families or make them feel obligated to contribute more than they originally intended. As a PTO, we want to make donating, registering for events, and making payments as simple and affordable as possible for our families. Zeffy solves two big challenges for our nonprofit Parent Teacher Organization: keeping costs down and making it easier to manage payments and registrations. Several things actually...

1. I get that you need to pay the bills, but your "default" zeffy donation it way to high! I as the webmaster, was charged the 17% donation during testing.

2. Need more api options for webmasters to utilize. For example create a custom cart checkout for website merchandise to support BCCC or the ability to prorate membership dues depending on when the member joins, with a set annual due/renewal date (to close out year end books). Since Zeffy utilizes the 'stripe' platform, this should be very achievable and allowed.

What do you like best about Zeffy?

Zeffy is so user friendly and has really great customer support. I love that it is actively improving and adding features to support user requests. It has absolutely NO fees which is really wonderful for non-profits. This is our third year using Zeffy for our school and I have shared it with 3 other local non profits who are equally excited about using it. Prior to switching, we were using a cumbersome payment platform that charged high fees and required a yearly membership if we wanted full functionality. It did not allow for easily designed campaigns and did not offer nearly as many fundraising options. The simplicity and easy for creating and sharing campaigns has really empowered our PTA. Thank you for sharing Zeffy with three other organizations! Zeffy is a 100% free fundraising platform for nonprofits, with no platform fee, no transaction fee and no annual subscription, which is usually what a school ends up paying for elsewhere without quite realizing it.

Three years in, one thing worth knowing: the features you have seen arriving come largely from requests like yours, since the product team ships improvements weekly and builds the roadmap from what nonprofits ask for. Support stays free at every stage too, so a new volunteer can get help without anyone upgrading a plan.

Two parts of Zeffy you may not have opened yet. Raffles support ticket bundles, prize tiers and 50/50 draws, and they work well as a second ask next to an existing school campaign. Newsletters and emailing is included as well, with a drag and drop builder, scheduling and open and click tracking, so families hear from you between fundraisers without another subscription.
