WHMCS is the oldest billing app that exists on the market right now. We have been using WHMCS since 2014 because there is no other billing software that better suits our needs. We are website developers, but we also sell domains and hosting. Mainly for our clients who order websites from us. It is growing right now (200+ active clients), and WHMCS is helping us to maintain all of them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Only two things we don't like: WHMCS pricing plan and inflexibility to maintain templates. It's a bit pricey now, but we make more than that, so we can still afford it. Regarding templates, they don't provide any sort of child template (like WordPress), so when the main template is updated, we shouldn't need to sort what has changed and copy it to our current template. WHMCS is the best platform. I am using it since 2015 on my company PBN Masters but recently due to some changes I stopped using WHMCS in my company. I will start using WHMCS again in the future as I had a good experience of 3 years with WHMCS and it helped me in my daily tasks. Now users can log in and reset their password without sending me an email. That's the ease for which WHMCS charges a hefty amount monthly, but they are still cheaper in the market and providing the best support ever possible. WHMCS is easily the best platform to bill clients out there for any sort of hosting, and even consulting services, or both, in my case. The only downside I can really think of, is that the code is extremely closed, and modules and themes are really rough to make, because of how they protect their software, which is understandable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

WHMCS has easy set-up tools and has great customer service if needed. Despite the high price, it's a very good billing system for your customers to use. It has endless features such as: client viewing, editing, coupon codes, affiliate management, cancellation system, billing/invoicing system, support ticket system which includes announcements, a knowledge base and a downloads page. WHMCS takes invoicing/billing a step further with the ability to have custom branding with the email that is sent to the customer and have more control over a customers' bill. I dislike the price of WHMCS. It is highly expensive although it is like one of the best softwares out there for hosting and billing management it is still an overkill price. One more thing is that WHMCS has a limited feature with profiles such as profile pictures. Customization is easy, but sometimes, even though we already have created a child theme to edit, when updates occur, there are some errors that happen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Think outside the box in regards to what you might want to do with WHMCS. I've shown people the various features within WHMCS and have had some implement it as a support solution only, others use it only for automated billing, some have sold physical products (with a few minor changes) and of course others have used it for multiple. One thing I really love about WHMCS is the ability to market to your clients from within, while managing their products and billing, providing support, but also....A BUILT IN AFFILIATE SYSTEM. At a very affordable cost, they've packed so many features in for the cost, and then there are additional addons you can utilize, some are free while some are pretty inexpensive.

The ease of setup and integration is amazing. From setting up the payment gateway, products, add-ons, support structure, integrate it with the server, and everything else, it's a few hours of work (and that's if you have several servers and/or services). The integrated Knowledgebase and Support Ticket system can easily be utilized at all phases of the client lifecycle (pre-sales, sales, setup, ongoing support, etc...). The fact that I can include server side monitoring so users can see server health is nice addition as well as the library of add-ons you can purchase which include software licensing subscriptions which are also easy to integrate. Also, action/webhooks allow you to easily use WHMCS as a SSO for your clients into all your public facing systems.

Additionally, since I've been using WHMCS for 12 years now, I've actually had several times I've worked with their support and with the original developer, Matt, and I have always had amazing service from them. They've even gone so far as to make some custom changes for us back in the day (many which became implemented in the years to come). I've been using WHMCS since 2007, they used to be slow to update some things, but that's not been a problem for about 5 years now. I wish it was easier to do a custom theme for the software. Even a lot of the available themes to purchase have to utilize "old school" coding and you have to be careful to make sure you get a responsive one. Also, it'd be great to have a small CMS built in to create basic pages, manage your menu and similar tasks. I'd love if it would become something like WHMCS and WordPress had a lovechild.
