It has been the most valuable software in running our company, from billing to automating our corn tasks. It automates every job so we don't spend so much time checking and operating things. It does have many free and paid plugins to add additional features. Since it supports virtually any payment gateway, there is no need for us to spend time configuring it for them. **What do you dislike about WHMCS?** It's pricy, and there's so much hassle to update. Especially when the database is too large, the automatic update crashes almost every time. I also noticed sometimes, when integrated with Cpanel, the direct link from Cpanel is not accurate. It is a great solution to start, but at scale it has certainly limitations. You can see that they are focussed on cPanel, which can be great, however other panels have less proper support or no official support at all. **What do you dislike about WHMCS?** They did not make their system fool proof nor logical. This can cost you money. Example issues are domains showing expired to your client so they do not pay for it while you still renew them with your supplier. Or incorrect data validation support or custom fields for certain TLDs. With a workaround it is supported, but not in a customer friendly way. Furthermore, they like price increases (as the parent company also likes). **Recommendations to others considering WHMCS:** Would definitely consider it for small hosting-on-the-side solutions. It used to be the best option out there, but WHMCS just completely turned their back on long-time customers. **What do you dislike about WHMCS?** They have turned into a greedy company and decided to make their "Owned License" completely obsolete and force long-time customers into a new monthly pricing scheme that will markup prices close to 3,000%. These guys sent me an email politely telling me they no longer care about my business any longer. They told me that I either move to their new licensing (more expensive and monthly) or essentially risk exploits and outdated code for the very software my business depends on to run. No warning, no heads up, nothing. WHMCS is like the king of all other inferior billing softwares. It has so many features and even the little features to the point that it can get a little complicated but in a good way of course. It allows for scalability and expandable. I’m using webhooks (a more advanced feature) to integrate WHMCS with slack so I get notified whenever someone places an order. The newest update in WHMCS 8 has subusers, and it’s wonderful for client to be able to create subusers without giving their main account credentials. I know WHMCS cares a lot for us, the staff, and our clients. **What do you dislike about WHMCS?** - I am sad that the new PayPal module is quite an annoyance to use because it doesn’t allow for single payments, only subscriptions. - The WHMCS admin billing area have some advertisements like SiteLock and SpamAlert. I've shown people the various features within WHMCS and have had some implement it as a support solution only, others use it only for automated billing, some have sold physical products (with a few minor changes) and of course others have used it for multiple. One thing I really love about WHMCS is the ability to market to your clients from within, while managing their products and billing, providing support, but also....A BUILT IN AFFILIATE SYSTEM. At a very affordable cost, they've packed so many features in for the cost, and then there are additional addons you can utilize, some are free while some are pretty inexpensive. The ease of setup and integration is amazing. From setting up the payment gateway, products, add-ons, support structure, integrate it with the server, and everything else, it's a few hours of work (and that's if you have several servers and/or services). The integrated Knowledgebase and Support Ticket system can easily be utilized at all phases of the client lifecycle (pre-sales, sales, setup, ongoing support, etc...). The fact that I can include server side monitoring so users can see server health is nice addition as well as the library of add-ons you can purchase which include software licensing subscriptions which are also easy to integrate. Also, action/webhooks allow you to easily use WHMCS as a SSO for your clients into all your public facing systems. Additionally, since I've been using WHMCS for 12 years now, I've actually had several times I've worked with their support and with the original developer, Matt, and I have always had amazing service from them. They've even gone so far as to make some custom changes for us back in the day (many which became implemented in the years to come). It's a company that actually listens to it's customers and tries to implement their requests. **What do you dislike about WHMCS?** I've been using WHMCS since 2007, they used to be slow to update some things, but that's not been a problem for about 5 years now. I wish it was easier to do a custom theme for the software. Even a lot of the available themes to purchase have to utilize "old school" coding and you have to be careful to make sure you get a responsive one. Also, it'd be great to have a small CMS built in to create basic pages, manage your menu and similar tasks.
