I found it much more advanced than others in shipping management. Product handling was good and has everything you need. The payment methods are also excellent. **What do you dislike about VirtueMart?** The big limitation is Joomla. Over the years I have abandoned this cms and have thus been forced to no longer use Virtuemart. I was very sorry about this because I found it an excellent online sales platform. **What problems is VirtueMart solving and how is that benefiting you?** It was the first ecommerce system I used and it allowed me to set up online stores for my customers. A big step from the web as a showcase to direct sales. I was using Joomla and Virtuemart was a huge plus for adding online sales to showcase sites. ### 2. There are many features making VirtueMart customizable to your needs. **What do you dislike about VirtueMart?** My only dislike is that VirtueMart is not yet compatible with Joomla 4. Other than that, everything works great with no issues. **What problems is VirtueMart solving and how is that benefiting you?** VirtueMart helped gain more sales and customers. Search is not immediate and you need a lot of components to optimize the platform. **What problems is VirtueMart solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used it for my ex e-commerce. It worked fine but there is something better than Virtuemart. ### 5. Since my websites don't have a lot of traffic, and I don't do a lot of sales, I was looking for an e-commerce solution that was free or inexpensive. **What do you dislike about VirtueMart?** I don't like that there are certain features that I would like, but in order to use them, I must pay for those subscription plugins. **Recommendations to others considering VirtueMart:** If you are looking for a product that is easy to use, free, and that allows you to customize your sales page, VirtueMart is a great option! **What problems is VirtueMart solving and how is that benefiting you?** I did not want to spend a lot of money on purchasing a plugin, since I only sell one proudct from our dojo website. VirtueMart allowed me to list and price my own product, upload images, and was easy to use. VirtueMart is the perfect solution for a small website like mine, with few products. ### 6. Plenty of options to configure and manage at individual product level and stock control. It is free, but is worth paying for. Clients have found it straight forward to manage with only little training. **What do you dislike about VirtueMart?** Not the most intuitive ecommerce extension when compared with those used by other content management systems. It can sometimes feel a little difficult to find how to manage specific features especially if switching to other eCommerce platforms where things are more clear and then back to this. Possibly down to the Joomla admin interface itself. **Recommendations to others considering VirtueMart:** Expect a learning curve for initial set-up. Stick with it and so combine an excellent CMS with a powerful and free virtual shop solution. **What problems is VirtueMart solving and how is that benefiting you?** To turn a website built with a great content management system (Joomla) into a highly competent virtual store. This was the preferred option rather than to move to an entirely new platform. ### 7. Very little reading up necessary, and I was able to pick up using Virtuemart for the first time every very quickly. Documentation is also easy to find. Integration into Joomla is nice though, and you can use many Joomla built in features to supplement VM and make it easier to manage. **What do you dislike about VirtueMart?** Joomla can be clunky and slow, which can impede the use of plugins. Virtuemart suffers because of this. Additionally, at the time of use there was no integration with the inventory management software we were using. For people who need to add Joomla eCommerce to their sites, it's worth consideration, but be sure to compare other options! **What do you dislike about VirtueMart?** VM over the last few years has stripped out features that used to be core, and turned them into paid plugins. I get that the author(s) need to make a living, but this is frustrating for clients who want to upgrade from earlier versions and suddenly find themselves having to assemble a large number of different plugins and addons from other vendors to get the same functionality VM used to include by default in earlier versions. **Recommendations to others considering VirtueMart:** Fully explore your eCommerce requirements to make sure if VM will actually meet your needs better than a commercial Joomla shopping cart extension. This free extension may not turn out to be the least expensive way to go, depending on your actual needs. The biggest problem we see is clients getting into VM before really analyzing their requirements, and then getting discouraged because they need a lot of paid extras to make their site work the way they want. **What problems is VirtueMart solving and how is that benefiting you?** We provide Joomla eCommerce customization, support and upgrades. Super powerful php based backend with javascript. Supports loads of apis and is completely customizable. So many plugins and components, from simple to complex. Ecommerce component Virtuemart is top notch. Continued development. **What do you dislike about VirtueMart?** Could be faster. Is a bit of a server hog. Some templates mess up your website and need high levels of tweaking. **Recommendations to others considering VirtueMart:** Skip magento if you need a scalable and customizable environment to work with. Joomla is way simpler and more than you need. **What problems is VirtueMart solving and how is that benefiting you?** Scaling solutions for web development for our clients. This gives a power framework to start from. Everything is open source and free. Fast and easy deployment. Complete solution achieved by using components to extend functionality, but all relies on the same core database. E-commerce solution built from the ground up, rivaling that of Bigcommerce, all in-house. ### 16. Otherwise it's a great product. **Recommendations to others considering VirtueMart:** VirtueMart has some fairly common installation errors that can occur in certain scenarios but it also has a great support network and it's easy to find step by step instructions to overcome them.
