Project Management tool has allowed greater buy-in from all company stakeholders **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Eric H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2020 **What do you like best about Viewpath?** The Viewpath platform has allowed us to create projects that break departmental information silos and place all internal and external stakeholder tasks in one comprehensive task list - even allowing different deadline charting options to accommodate different visualization needs. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** There was a learning curve to discover how to appropriately set up constraints inside of different event project templates - however, the Viewpath team was awesome at answering questions and getting us on the right track! **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** Viewpath has enabled us to better track all tasks company wide that go in to launching each live event we manage. Additionally, by tracking the full set of tasks that go in to planning and producing our live events, we now have greater insight in to the full planning cycle of our events, giving us a more informed timeline for starting planning for our summer tour. ### 2. Viewpath needs desperately to expand its adoption. It’s a great product that needs to increase marketing effort particularly in the PM channels. **Recommendations to others considering Viewpath:** 100% support the switch! I’ve found huge gain in adoption by providing a tool to a team that addresses many previous anxieties. Great collaboration tool! **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cross collaboration of strategic projects allows us to finally assess resource drain as a whole and better understand “big picture” what is coming and when. ### 3. It is a great way to keep track of long term tasks that are part of projects. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** I haven't used any other online management systems so I have nothing to compare it to. I really don't have anything that I dislike. **Recommendations to others considering Viewpath:** Has been a great system to use with teammates. **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sharing projects is much easier with VP. It is also a great way to keep a virtual "to-do" list. ### 4. The bars are easy to move around and once you get the interface down all things are pretty great. This product is great for tracking construction projects and workers. The best we've found so far. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** When my jobs go over budget it just marks them as complete when I update the hours. It would be AMAZING if when a job went over it changed to red or something instead. I use the scheduled by work feature and was told this is unavailable in the newer version. This is an amazing tool for crews. **Recommendations to others considering Viewpath:** Be patient as it does take a bit getting used to but it is so worth it! **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** Organization!! Once I have inputted my current schedule at the end of the day I feel so much better! It helps me keep track of customers and gives me a visual of upcoming jobs. ### 5. It presents the right information, at the right level to each user type. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** It isn't a negative, but I want more portfolio management tools and I hear they are coming. This will soon be moved to the positive. **Recommendations to others considering Viewpath:** This is a great product if you want to get going quickly and have the tools needed for project management. **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** Most PPM/PM tools are aimed at very maturity organizations and most organizations aren't very mature. Viewpath meets these needs by offering lower maturity groups an easy way to manage projects at their level and giving them a path to greater maturity. Repeatable and consistent processes can be built into project templates. ### 6. Because you can see your commitments and responsibilities at a glance, it's easy to prioritize how you spend your time. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** As with any new program, platform or application, using Viewpath may appear challenging at first, but because easier as the weeks go by. Perhaps the best thing about facing these challenges is the customer service provided. If answers to your questions can't be found in the FAQs, customer service is prompt, friendly and easy to understand. **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's not unusual to have 3-6 people working on projects. Now, it's easy to see who has been assigned to specific tasks and the deadlines for completing those. Before, those commitments were made in person or via email, with no written document that could be accessed by all personnel involved in each project. It's easy to check, at a glance, who is taking care of the components involved in a project and the expected date of completion. ### 7. Easy to configure the different fields to show only the level of detail you're interested in. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** When it comes to task relationships for detailed construction management it falls short. There aren't enough options for task relationships (only start-start, start-finish, and finish-start). The resource scheduling feature seems like it could be improved to help people manage group work load. **Recommendations to others considering Viewpath:** Make sure you evaluate alternatives, such as Primavera and MS Project. Determine the level of complexity of your projects to decide how feature-rich a program you need. I think Viewpath is good for basic scheduling. **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use it to generate basic, preliminary schedules. Then we use other software. ### 8. We use the following features: Resource Availability: we use this to rank worker efficiency. A slow or fast work automatically lengthens or shortens the task time. Assignments: Adding more workers automatically changes the task duration. Gantt: The Gantt displays work completed vs total work. I've looked at and tried other Gantt products. This one is the best for us. Best of all, support gets back to you fast if you have questions or problems. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** Things I'd like to see improved are: The task is marked complete when total hours worked equals budgeted hours and it is automatically marked as completed. Sometimes tasks take longer than scheduled. I'd like to see a better way to monitor hours over budget. Little integration with other programs. I'd love to have both time and attendance and View Path together. View Path does have a very basic time and attendance, but it's not adequate for or needs. **Recommendations to others considering Viewpath:** Give it a try. There are lots of videos to help you work through things, and human help **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** View Path helps us: Schedule workers and tasks and to maximize resource usage. ### 9. I like that I can sort view only those tasks that belong to em by running reports. I like that i can control what projects are listed in reports based on what project tabs are open. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** Viewpath can be a little unwieldy when there are many (think hundreds) of simultaneous projects with many (think a hundred or so) tasks per project and many (think dozens) users. Load time becomes a little slow. Additionally, it doesn't seem like the time between "checking a box" and the server registering that the box is checked is instant; sometimes I'll check a task as complete, and then minutes later when I'm leaving the webpage I'll get a warning. **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our projects have timelines that can shift based on when key tasks are completed; Viewpath allows our Project Managers to shift entire branches of a project to match dates, instead of having to move each individual task one at a time. ### 10. Intermittent issues calculating project budget lead us to manually check the math before every quote. The timer did not work. If you refreshed or closed the browser, you'd lose logged time. We ended up using Zoho Invoice's timer and manually entering logged time into Viewpath. **Recommendations to others considering Viewpath:** It's a good tool if you're used to MS Project and want a similar look and feel. Don't rely on the timer or budget calcluations. **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** Accurate project duration and budget estimates. Monitoring project progress and adjusting schedule/budget. ### 11. The entire team relies on their ability to check their task completion on their home screen. Our team is reliant on the task list to make sure that they are hitting the marks crossed multiple initiatives. **What do you dislike about Viewpath?** While recurrent projects can be accommodated, it would be great to have a "reset" option that would allow us to mark "incomplete" any tasks assigned to team members for the next year. **Recommendations to others considering Viewpath:** Rely upon the software, initial setup is a bit overwhelming but in the end it is worth it! **What problems is Viewpath solving and how is that benefiting you?** None ### 12.
