There was more detail in set up than initially anticipated. It would be great to have a hands on demo before purchase rather than a video introduction. I haven't really found any downsides to Upchan that wouldn't apply to any PLM/PDM system. It will take a bit of work to set up and the training was a bit overwhelming at first, but the Upchain Academy and plethora of helpful resources are already making up for that! The best aspect to Upchain is its cohesive platform. As a full PDM and PLM solution, it provides and all-in-one approach. As a Solidworks user, the plug-in is crucial for it's PDM functions and the ability to control full life cycle management within the same platform is seamless. Additionally, the direct to consumer communication has proved to be far superiors to having to go through a authorized reseller other platforms require. If there is a question, or improvement suggestion, direct communication to the Upchain team is easy. The response time and feedback has been phenomenal. It's hard to pick what I like best. There are so many useful features that are equally important in different ways. The document control features and being able to modify approval processes is a big one for me though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There's not anything that I "dislike" although I do look forward to a bit more flexibility on the project management gantt chart. I've come from a completely non CAD/PLM background, and I've been able to get up to speed with the way Upchain works quite quickly.

Support has been massively improved in the last few months, and the speed in which developments/improvements are delivered is good.

It's not without its bugs and error messages (but as mentioned above, these are acknowledged). As I deal with end user support, I see more of the issues that users face when dealing with Upchain, and one of the main complaints is the errors given are vague and ambiguous. I am fascinated by this system, since it is based on the innovation of new projects to be executed, mostly in the design and production areas, highlighting that it contains fantastic main tools programmed, attracting the attention of multiple users because most of these functions are quite advanced, as it maintains a very secure cloud storage, for the idealizations and data obtained throughout the PLM solutions that this software executes on a particular platform, without excluding that its operator interfaces are very intuitive , with automated approvals and among other multiple features that Upchain acquires, to guarantee its work. It can be considered that it is quite complete software, and the negative arguments about its general functionality are totally scarce, however, we can state that it presented its qualities with disadvantages throughout its executive processes, and even at the beginning of its respective operation in a facility, highlighting that the configuration of its systems to adapt it to our environment and promote a guarantee of comfort, is something difficult to implement and takes time. However, what they show in their training program only works smoothly on the program. Once one starts using the software, many of the features of the software are half-baked. It would be quite useful if this software will integrate notifications of mismanagement, when we are designing a particular project, regardless of the purpose for which the production processes are due, above all to determine in a faster way the details that are present, since it is something normal, but if it is overlooked, it can be a problem of great magnitude, which requires good attention in these work areas. Upchain is a breeze to set up. It's possible to implement without having a full-time person dedicated to administration. Through their "Connect the Chain" program, current and new users have access to detailed live training sessions every month. Upchain , I love it because it allows me to keep all the information stored in the cloud in a layer system where the information is encrypted, to be later used in sending or sharing specific information, however this offers us other tools and collaborates with us in The design processes for the marketing and advertising campaigns in this offer us a tool to create a filter and thus be able to find errors or find positive things to be able to spread it to the clients, we are happy because it has been handled very well and not showed no problems with clients from the campaigns already sent, in summary useful and easy system. I have a main problem and that is that their server support or their status in the cloud is in problems because it is cumbersome to enter the system and download the program in circumstances it is difficult are optimization problems that can affect being effective. 1. UpChain provided a great opportunity that for the whole team (not only inside the company, also combined with external vendors and clients) to be able to work on the same platform, from pre-prject til the end of R&D process.

2. UpChain create a bridge to link CAD users (MD, ID, ED) and non-CAD users together, so we don't need to rely on a installed CAD software for everyone. Everyone can check the CAD file easily.

3. The issue ticket system is amazing. Once a issue is found, now we can quickly create a ticket and assign it to the people who will take charge of fix it. It also create a link that everybody will know who gona take the responsibility and who gona review and approve it.

1. Upchain has a plugin for Solidworks. As a CAD worker, I would like keep all features in the plugin, so I don't need switch to browser to make some operation. But in current Solidworks plugin version, some features are still only available in browser.

2. CAD file version management for Solidworks plugin still need more work to make it more practical to check/compare different versions.

I found it unnecessary to talk about what the trainers were going to talk about... this could have saved 10-15mins per session which would have avoided the need to rush through the content right at the end.

Its not easy to understand until training is complete. Some naming and layouts are not logical and take some getting used to. The integration process requires a lot of time and planning. Metadata importing from existing sources could be made more user friendly. Mapping metadata from a database proved more difficult than expected (very specific data formatting required for Upchain's plugin to read the data properly. I like that it combines all the documents needed in one place. It is easy to view everything at a one stop location. I also like that it is Cloud based and can be accessed by multiple users at the same time. This is really beneficial especially that we have couple team members in different remote locations, and can't have access to the local server. I also like the user friendliness of the file. It can include more things and more capabilities. I think some points to improve is having the ability to manage more documents such as FMEA & APQP as well as work instructions documents. This would be super beneficial! One thing I dislike, is the duplication of some documents. I wish there is a feature to lock things and control them better. This would be super beneficial from a document control perspective. We wouldn't want two documents to be copied twice and worked on twice. Upchain is clearly focused on simplifying complex PLM processes. Recently, we conducting a review of several major PLM platforms, and Upchain was the only one that our users were excited about. They were able to pick up on the platform with very little training, and felt like it would allow them to do their day-to-day job better.

The Solidworks integration for Upchain is a differentiator. They've done a really good job bringing the major capabilities of the system into the plugin, and it does a really good job blurring the lines between "PLM Data" to "CAD Data".
