No native integration with Unit4 ERP - all integration is either scheduled imports(not live) or drill back link which take the user away into ERP. User interface web design language is not aligned with Unit4 ERP.

What do you like best about Unit4 FP&A?

The power and flexibility of the system. We operate in a rapidly changing environment; where we have new data sources, new accounting structures, to deal with on an ongoing basis. Prevero allows us to adapt to this changing environment and gives us the flexibility to adapt our approach quickly, build new models and processes. The more you get to know the product the more you see its power and flexibility.

The road map and product development, there are a number of features coming that have exciting potential.

The Prevero team itself has been very supportive and responsive. Particularly to change requests for both bug fixes and new features. Key new feature requests have been delivered quickly.

We’ve removed routine manual tasks. We can extract data and generate standard reports/packs with a click of a button. The excel add in and integration is very good and used to do adhoc analysis quickly, generate flexible reporting packs etc. and also write back data to Prevero. What do you dislike about Unit4 FP&A?

The resources (i.e. the literature) available to take your learning further is being developed. This means that you cannot necessarily find materials to support your learning and you therefore develop through test and learn. Having said this Prevero support and team have been very responsive to our questions.

Recommendations to others considering Unit4 FP&A:

Prevero is hugely powerful and flexible, you start with nothing and can build processes/models in any way you like. It is therefore important to start with a very clear implementation plan and scope. Given the flexibility of the product you will undoubtedly find better ways of doing things as your understanding of the product increases. Make sure you are heavily involved in the actual build and implementation. This is very important in developing your knowledge of the product and will allow you to be self sufficient and problem solve going forwards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unit4 FP&A solving and how is that benefiting you?

We collect a large amount of data (financial and non-financial) from many different sources with a high degree of automation, where appropriate we can mix approaches. This has helped increase the quality of our data, the ability to action up to date data quickly and to provide one source of financial truth.

We have retired a complex series of excel spreadsheets with a automated rolling 12 mth P&L forecast (by day), generated weekly for a number of entities. This is supplemented with automated daily variance analysis. The rolling plan feeds an integrated Balance Sheet and Cashflow.

We have different longer term planning budget models which again integarate with Balance Sheet and Cashflow.

The above has all freed the team up to concentrate on more value add activities rather than having time eaten up by gathering data, re cutting data and maintaining spreadsheets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unit4 FP&A?

Being a non-English language program first shows. For example there is no English help/documentation beyond workshop walkthroughs; Their support staff are helpful, but they have to be relied on too much.

Numerous bugs (some minor and some major) were found throughout our project. This made the implementation much tougher to develop than it otherwise needed to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ensure your implementers have very strong technical skills. Be prepared to encounter and work around occasional bugs; particularly with less-used features. Ensure you have fully developed requirements going into the project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Unit4 prevero - The Swiss Army Knife within BI-Systems"

What do you like best about Unit4 FP&A?

From the point of view of an power-user and/or administrator it is very easy to supply forms or templates to the "untrained" end-user. So one can rely to have exact and true data within all the reports and graphs. Powerusers (who take care of many administrator-related issues) come from our operational (Controlling)-department ... so they know about the needs of the endusers and can provide easily what they require. Unit4prevero comes with some very special, outstanding and helpful graphical capabilities we still can not find in any other BI-Tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unit4 FP&A?

In some cases you may need time-dependent hierarchies; for the time beeing this has to be solved with a work-around as time-dependent hierarchies are not provided so far. - But it will be included in releases of the near future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When starting a project with Unit4-prevero, make sure that those people who later shall be power-users or admin for the daily-business are deeply involved in DOING things during the implementation-phase. We created a complete value-driver-based strategic and integtrated operational planning system; This enabled us to cut the process of strategic planning short from almost 8 Months to a couple of weeks. In addition we use it for our group-reporting. In this topic we displaced a very complex and horrible system of interconnected Excel-Sheets. What do you like best about Unit4 FP&A?

prevero 10.5. is very intuitive and flexible. We are running the software without help of IT in a cloud. World wide access is easy via internet, at the headquarters we use a local installation. No need to know any programming language. Interface programming or better modelling of the software is done by ourselves, controlling department. My young team did not have any IT experience before, But after two days training on the job and the capability of logical thinking and some kind of IT affinity, any improvements, renewals or changes are done fast and non-bureaucratic by themselves.

Another important positive aspect is the connectivity to different softwares, like e.g. SAP we also have in use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unit4 FP&A?

In fact they do not have any moduls like you might know from other softwares. You start on a greenfield, talking about financial issues, so you must know what you want in the beginning. That is the source of the flexibility.

We shortened our monthly closing process by two days. Using automatism in collecting data and especially in preparing the data for our shareholders.

What do you like best about Unit4 FP&A?

The stability of the software is very good, We barely had more than 1 or 2 downtimes a year since 2013, which where mostly due to errors being made while updating for example (we are not using a test environment).

With the introduction of Prevero many manual reports (made in excel) have become obsolete which saved a lot of time in our department.

Besides that the software is really easy to use and we added many new projects into it without needing a consultant!

Due to the good usability and layout of reports the acceptance in our company is also very high.

I also like that the company is very innovative and tries to add many new (interesting) features regularly and has a good knowledge (and premade models) regarding financial topics (Montecarlo, Consolidation etc.). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unit4 FP&A?

Due to prevero growing there is sometimes a shortage of men regarding consultancy or support. Therefore it is possible that some problems may not be solved instantly. Nevertheless almost every problem we had was solved. From time to time there is only the Workaround which has to be done until the new version with a fix is released. Before starting with the implementation you have to have a clear vision what the endresult should look like and everything which can be prepared like Masterdata in pre-systems (like SAP) should be done beforehand. this will save you a lot of time in the implementation phase!

On Implementation start with the essential topics you need, you can always add more later.

prevero p10 is a very easy-to-use BI tool. Particularly noteworthy is the "Self-Service BI". With minimal training effort and a bit of commitment, many things can be developed and implemented independently. In the almost 6 years since the implementation, there have been very few outages. We use Unit4 Prevero as a central management, planning and reporting tool for all companies (in total 15). Via Unit4 Prevero, the companies are planned decentralized and reloaded and updated over the night via a daily automated interface to SAP/ERP.
