## Tenable Nessus Reviews
  ### 1. Future of Cyber Security Suite

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

I liked the Nessus because of its excellent coverage; its final results provides almost every details like vulnerability brief, its exploits, references and such other important matters to be dealt with the vulnerability fix.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

The customer support of Nessus is limited as compared to its wide customer base all over the world. So customer support of Nessus needs to be improved from the view point of its availability.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An experience with Nessus started with questions like whether this tool will be helpful, will it give expected results, whether........ and yes, this tool has given satisfied results to put a forward step for secured information system environment. For detailed results provided by Nessus I would say in brief that "It just worked flawlessly to deal with the vulnerabilities".

  ### 2. Impossible to uninstall on Mac

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grace C. | Founder/CEO, Principal Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Non-functioning software. Nessus is not appropriate for Macbook users.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

Does not conform to Mac application uninstall standards. You must piecemeal remove Nessus in subdirectories and becomes a hassle to remove safely. I doubt most people use Terminal to remove software in multiple directions. This lack of care makes Security software look nefarious (developed offshore).

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

Not ideal software for smaller enterprises. I can't imagine how awful maintenance for Nessus must look like at scale.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security trial software for enterprise review.

  ### 3. A total game changer-Nessus

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pratyaksh Kumar S. | Pentester/CTF-Player, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Multi-tasking: Nessus employs efficient memory usage to implement multitasking.
Credentialed Scanning: Executing a credentialed Nessus Scan allows you to get a deeper depth of information about your target. Constantly being updated. One of the few Vulnerability scanners with more than expected features and support for the community version.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

Nessus Pro restricted to just a single client makes it scarcely moderate for medium scale organizations. The characterization (high, medium, low, and so forth) are based on the finding and not your current circumstance. A high might be low for your situation and the other way around. Like many tools, even Nessus does have its own limitations and is not necessary that it may find all the vulnerabilities associated with the target provided. Ordinarily, the enhancements are not refreshed in an opportune way and this damages much more with the bogus positives produced

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

Nessus is a great vulnerability scanner tool, but if you are looking for something in specific to scan, such as a webapp, you should rather go for a web-app scanner.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Booking Report Quality Speed Ease of establishment. Automated tasks help to complete a VAPT and a pentesting project much faster.

  ### 4. good tool really helps in scanning domains and find vulnerability.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ravinder K. | Staff Augmentation, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

By the use of this tool i saved many customers from critical vulnerabilities. Suggested solutions based on tool results to the developer teams. it can also scan networks and find out security problems their.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

for lage scan , sometimes it slowdown. that should be improved. GUI interface should be improved. And some more features needs to be added. tools should have updates more frequently. some more features related to network security should be added. that will help users to solve problems easily.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it helps me to scan websites and find out vulnerabilities. It also tell md the severity of bug. so i can decidethe priority to resolve highest problematic first. For many websites i found critical and normal vulnerabilities and solved by help of nezsuss and other tools. it save time and provide good results. it have a good and easy graphical interface that helps to a beginner to use thos tool for their purposes.

  ### 5. Nessus Professional - Good Value & Great Product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rory Ebanks M. | Director, Information Security Advisory, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Unlimited scans of IP addresses, easy customization of scans, detailed descriptions, and references of findings. Multiple pre-built templates. Scans just about anything to identify a security weakness.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

Authenticated scans aren't the easiest to execute. Configuration review feature provides numerous false positives. Unable to perform business logic tests. Unable to open IP address of host directly from Nessus. Web App scans are not the most robust, a dedicated DAST tool is more value.

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

It is a leader in its field compared to other vulnerability scanners, it is also easy to use and setup.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security Advisory services for my clients and internally. Nessus provides insight into weaknesses within the IT environment.

  ### 6. Excellent Network Scanning tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammed F. | Security Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Policy Management and Reporting Style of the application. Nessus and its GUI is really well designed, It is mostly minimal and good looking, very clean, it is worth noting that in every update they improve it and include some types of scans that can bring you more complete and better results when you carry out an scan. Also its worth mentioning that the plugins in Nessys database are well updated and that your community team generates an well response on time. Pricing is cheaper and is worth the money that thet provide. It has PCI scanning which is one added feature.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

Reports more false positives sometimes in the scan. Sometime it is diffucult during initial setup in our environment, there were several complications when attempting to connect machines in our internal network which is really tiring when we are out of support. It lacks interaction with some other tools like Metasploit which is the swiss army knife of network testing. While it is easy to use, it also requires a certain level of knowledge from the user, if it could explain things a little better as the user moved through the program

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

Nessus does help satisfy our client demands, but it helps us find vulnerabilities in our systems and helps us find patches and solutions to the vulnerabilities. It very easy to find remediation for the application

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The scan might take a longer time for small assets.
Picking up the smaller findings and Low hanging fruits

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

I would love if the plugin updates have a better method to be done offline.
I would also appreciate if Tenable rolls out a free scanner with professional features for the community. (I think this wasa discontinued in 2019)

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

Nessus should be used by professionals who understand the benefits of automation and importance of vulnerability management in enterprise environment

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continuous Vulnerability Management is simplified. Scheduled scans and extremely detailed PDF and CSV Reports help me automate a major chunk of Assessment.

I'm into web application penetration testing, and this tool helped me in getting the accurate result unlike other tools as well as it's kinda fast and reliable.

  ### 11. Nessus Vulnerability Scanning Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Nessus Scanning covers almost all the vulnerabilities related to 3rd Party APPs, OS Level vulnerabilities, Container vulnerabilities, MisConfiguration and related issues, etc. I like it being a one stop solution.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

There are a lot of concerns with Nessus Agents. Like, it will require Nessus Relinking, once the agent stops to report to Nessus Manager, Tagging concerns for ephemeral environments where servers are coming up and downs, etc. Its highly recommended for static environments but messy for ephemeral/dynamic environments. Always requires some sort of scripting automation to relink, untag and tag again. Some instances (5-10%) show concerns when Nessus Agents are auth(n) fine but still Nessus Manager fails to recognize the same. These issues need to be raised to Nessus Engineering teams to provided a tool which can check back and forth for Nessus Connections and do the same stuff for us, should not just be an overhead for the customer.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems mostly related to vuln scans. No other Security Vuln. scanner is close to Nessus. Tried some opensource solutions and cloud solutions as well, but no comparison to Nessus.

  ### 12. Gui and operational

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil K. | web application security researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Easy to use, attractive GUI, scanning for web application, api and network infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

Delayed in query from their end if we do.

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

8 out of 10

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VA and Compliance scanning of Network infrastructure and web application

  ### 13. Nessus Professional Offline Use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg H. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Quick to implement patching updates and new product updates in baseline files. Tenable audit files are useful, along with step by step guides on how to implement the audit files. Tenable seems to keep up with the changes in the DISA STIGs, CIS baselines, etc. Also, the user community also fills in some of the slack on getting things changed as well.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

Sometimes remote scanning takes a long time, but may have to do with the bandwidth provided. Every year the offline activation is required, which isn't bad. Some other programs require a more frequent check-in than yearly, so that is helpful for offline systems.

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

Offline activation/update easier than most other competitors. Quick to adapt patching baselines, new vulnerabilities and product updates. One of the most complete solutions for scanning, patching and vulnerability scanning. Audit files are also useful for CIS, DISA STIGs, etc. Online help seems to be a good place to get help not only from Tenable employees but other users experiencing similar issues to you as well. Opening a support ticket gets an answer quickly as well. The company understands offline use, which is nice for those of us without internet connectivity 24/7.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Verify patches, verify products correctly updated. Find out we need patches vendor didn't tell us about. Find out that some of the old software we have on the machines is causing us to be in a less secure environment than initially thought. The scanning updates after patch Tuesday are quick, which helps to have before/after scans on the Microsoft patching. Most other product updates for non-Microsoft products (Adobe, Java, etc.) also seem to be quick to make it in the plugin database.

  ### 14. Great to view detailed reports

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Very detailed reports, and you can sort/find specifics.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

It takes considerable CPU power when the program is not even running.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We import reports into nessus. We get specific information out of Nessus for our reports.

  ### 15. It has been very useful to detect existing failures in my company

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Honker B. | data engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Its interface has a fairly simple and intuitive design to use at all times, which allows me to streamline in a much simpler and faster way a large number of tasks in a much more practical, agile and safe way, the fact that we allows us to detect in a much simpler and more efficient way the existing vulnerabilities in our company is something that has been very helpful to us to improve any failure or error that may occur during the development of our activities, its interface has a minimalist design but at the same time quite powerful to do everything in a very practical way, its ease of installation and configuration is also something that is of great help when making the initial configurations of the application in a much faster and more practical way.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

My main complaint is with their customer service team, they take too long to respond to any questions or problems that may arise, which I consider something quite problematic.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has been very useful for me to detect existing faults in my company in a much faster, simpler and more efficient way, which has been of great help to me in achieving a great improvement in a large number of processes within my company, without mention that it facilitates the improvement of coexistence with my employees, since having the company well monitored and controlled, in the sense of avoiding as far as possible the existence of failures that are mainly those that can generate some type of inconvenience or trigger serious communication problems this translates into a better coexistence for everyone and a better performance within the office.

Set and forget, just read the reports and edit systems to scan as needed! The reports are easily readable and all the plugins let you customize scans VERY well.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

Nothing really. Scans are slow, but that's expected.

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

Be prepared to spend a lot of time initially documenting all the systems you want to scan, and then setting up the relevant tests. But once done, it's a cake walk to change things later.

**What problems is Tenable Nessus solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 23. Nessus helps to know the vulnerability surface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaime P. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Tenable Nessus?**

Easy to use, to configure, you can trust in the vuln they found, they are where it say in any host, server or webservice you have scaned. Other thing is the number os assets you can scan is more than other where you have to pay per host number, in this you can pay for license and you can scan any number of host in your own network.

**What do you dislike about Tenable Nessus?**

Is not easy to analize data from the reports and some times is teddious to find the plugin name or number to find the error or for example, to know if the credentials for the current scan is ok or no

**Recommendations to others considering Tenable Nessus:**

If you are looking for the best vulnerability scanner for host, you have to try Nessus. If you want to know about credentials, blackbox scans, are part of red team or security at home or little bussines you can do a scan to know the vulnerabilities that have you infraestructure (all of them)
