As a UK Chartered Accountant and the various different registeration thresholds and so on, the support team are always willing and quick to reply to queries. **What do you dislike about TaxCloud?** Overall, Taxcloud is Brilliant however there is one issue in regards to a UK Shopify account which sells in the US through a US 3PL where I have to do a manual import. This causes some additional time on my end, however I am currently working with the team to see if there is a work-around of which I am confident will be successful. **What problems is TaxCloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** An issue with an integration between a UK shopify account and Taxcloud, of which is ongoing and I am confident will be fixed. Once fixed, this will save be time and ultimately, cost. This is all part of the Taxcloud package, and the team have been extremely helpful. ### 2. TaxCloud calculates the sales tax for all my Shopify store orders and files the sales tax to the states automatically at the end of the month. I also find the initial setup very easy. **What do you dislike about TaxCloud?** I feel like their pricing is actually a little higher. And, also, for my store, Shopify is actually calculating and collecting the sales tax from the customers. And at the same time, TaxCloud is also calculating, but not collecting this sales tax from the customers. So I see a lot of discrepancies between the Shopify collected sales tax and the TaxCloud calculated sales tax. **What problems is TaxCloud solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use TaxCloud to collate and file sales tax for all 50 states, which it does automatically from my Shopify store orders. Before we started using it, calculating tax across all 50 states and thousands of local jurisdictions was basically unmanageable—especially since prepared food, grocery, and supplement items are taxed differently in nearly every state. TaxCloud handles all of that automatically at checkout in real time, so we don’t have to maintain rate tables, build custom logic, or worry about applying the wrong rate to an order. Economic nexus tracking has also been a big win for us. As we expand into new states, TaxCloud monitors our sales against each state’s threshold and alerts us before we cross into a new compliance obligation. We’ve never had to manually keep tabs on where we need to register; it surfaces what matters when it matters. Filing and remittance are what really make it worth it. Instead of dealing with a different return process everywhere we sell, TaxCloud registers, files, and remits on our behalf. In Streamlined Sales Tax states, the filing cost is even covered, which is a meaningful savings. Overall, the biggest benefit is that we can run a multi-state D2C business without needing an in-house tax team or a custom-built tax engine. Checkout totals stay accurate, expanding into new states doesn’t require engineering work, and we’ve eliminated what would otherwise be one of the largest hidden liabilities for a fast-growing online store: uncollected or under-collected sales tax. TaxCloud seemed to be the best option for the price and so far it's been great to get it setup for 2025. **What do you dislike about TaxCloud?** All sales tax products seem to be very expensive. Even with TaxCloud our owners were concerned about the price. However, through enrolling mulitple entities we did receive a better deal. The sales tax certificates exemptions do not work properly Integration with systems is not fully vetted. We had to spend time troubleshooting API's Customer service and support are absolutely horrible. Pray you never have an issue and have to contact support. You will get the runaround. They messed up some tax filings for us, and even though they collected all the fees, they never paid it to the authorities nor filled the proper paperwork. For months we have been trying to resolve this matter. All of these matters are documented. They collected more fees from us and promised a refund; they never fulfilled that promise. We have at least ten emails from supervisors and other employees committing to processing fees the NEXT week. These issues have been going on for almost 1 year. Very expensive to use. Their support docs are for a previous version of site and are overall useless. We contacted them repeatedly by phone and email to resolve issue (site wouldn't let us add any states beyond the 'free' ones) and it took almost 10 days to receive a response. The same girl answers the phone and puts you on hold to 'contact' the tech department (and later, the manager), who are conveniently never available.
