I would like to share some points under this tag :-

1. Customization option for monitoring also can creating your own monitors.(PowerShell Scripting)

2. Detects and alerts the critical services which failed, space is low on storage at the logical or physical level, IP conflict and all.

3. Allows  to visualize our systems in a single interface and see the status of health as well as relevant performance metrics.

4. Can setup thresholds for alerts so you receive a warning before you receive a critical alert so you have time to avoid a system outage/issue

5. It is quite handy to use ping and remote compute commands from the SCOM console.

Few are the dislike about the product or service are :-

1. Its real-time status updates are a bit slow.

2. Support for monitoring of Linux OS is not mature enough

3. Basic agents still don't work with all UNIX/Linux flavors

As I am using this product from last2 years my over all experience is great . As SCOM helps us to monitor and manages the multiple windows system to make more effective decision before the system gores worst.

Also as SCOM helps to write the power shell scripts which makes life more easier to make some automation jobs. like service restart and all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Most dislike that I observe is when we are increasing monitoring agents performance is getting worst and some time delay in the alerts as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Software is great for monitoring and early intervention/detection for issues on servers before the problem causes an outage. Monitor drive space, drive status, ILO connectivity and internet connectivity, memory, cpu usage, temps and more has a suite of tools to drill down into servers performance as well, and built in tools to mitigate issues from SCOM Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As SCOM is supporting PowerShell scripting so we can write different automation to restart the services or collect data from different windows agents.

It consumes more SQL database space to store the monitoring and event information. To get rid of this old information we have to write SQL jobs which is a burden on the developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My experience with SCOM is very good as it helps us in windows monitoring. We get to know about the problems and errors through the system events and alerts which helps us in preventing system outage. System Center Operation Manager "SCOM", easy to install solid & strong when configured right, it has a lot of features & monitoring, it integrates well with other system center products, such as system center configuration manager or sccm. And very easy to deploy the agent either directly or using sccm. Over all SCOM is very good product in terms of the controls it provides & the integration between it & the other third party product to enhance the productivity & to have the best experiment about your environment. System Center Operation Manager "SCOM" it need littell requirement compared to other system center products, but the configuration part has its issues where you have to many steps to finish one item to monitor & control it. the other this is comes to how to do after any incident happen if you do not have the good configuration between the other products then you might end up with just an information without any action or you must do it manually which is making the SCOM for some cases useless.
