We can check the code deployed in various environments and also get through the live logs and also we can check the config of every micro services

It automatically gets logged out after some time

I like catalog of apps(appps and marketplace) feature it makes life easier by allowing us to install most of familiar opensource application into cluster with few clicks away

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

As of now I don't dislike anything in rancher, but incase if I face any issue not liked when exploring more depply will update the same here

As I tried it helps by providing tools to manage the resource allocation in the cluster and scaling option in the resource constraint environment which helps to manage the resource overall

rancher makes it very simple to set up and handle kubernetes clusters in bare metal and public clouds, among other places. it's really adaptable!

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

there are a lot of options in rancher, but you might need some help with the more advanced ones. however, it's easy to do once you get the hang of it.

**What problems is SUSE Rancher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

rancher makes it easy to deal with the problems that come up with containerised tasks. for handling clusters, having centralised authentication, access control, and observability is like having a toolbox full of extra tools.

rancher works with a lot of orchestrators and makes it simple to handle containers. its ready-to-use apps save me time, and the tracking tools work great.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

It's took some time to get used to that, and when it's time to scale up, it sometimes moves more slowly.

Rancher goes right to work on my DevOps issues. I can work on my projects instead of thinking about how to set up containers or whether they will work together because of it.

it's easy to set up kubernetes in different settings with rancher. consistency and dependability are ensured by centralizing authentication and access control.

for newbies, setting up the system might be a little hard at first because it takes some time to learn and use all of its features.

The self managed kubernetes cluster that gets ready in minutes. 
I can not only set my deployments but can pull or build my custom images to be used in deployments. 
It gives access to all the master files allowing you to explore the cluster to its best .

The starting setup is a bit unclear but once your setup is ready it's all easy flowing.

It's easy to setup and test your entire cluster before dealing it at production level.

**What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?**

I like the way that Rancher interacts directly with VMware vSphere - providing a simple interface through which you can configure one or more machine pools - making getting up and running with an on-premises Kubernetes environment straightforward.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

I believe that the documentation lets Rancher down, the document isn't as rich as that provided by similarly sized technology companies. We often have to refer to support requests and forum articles for guidance on specific issues. Ultimately, when it works its great - but there have been a couple of occasions where Rancher has failed (either fully or partially and it has proved very difficult or in some cases impossible to resolve).

**What problems is SUSE Rancher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We primarily deploy our applications on EKS within AWS. However, we have a customer request for an on-premise installation in a prexisting vSphere datacenter. Rancher's ability to interact with VMware vSphere and handle the configuration and on-going management of a Kubernetes cluster proved invaluable.

With its user friendly UI, seamless integration, and broad support network. Rancher redefines Kubernetes administration and makes it accessible to anyone.

I had some problems copying and pasting things from the internet. I have to reload the website to solve this.

It allows us to execute apps without requiring a separate server for each. With Rancher's assistance, we can deploy things more quickly utilizing Kubernetes.

**What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?**

We need to run our Kubernetes-Clusters in an Air-Gapped environment and need the opportunity to manage all these clusters and also append new ones in short time. Originally we came from SUSE CaaSP and were "forced" into Rancher. In retrospect, this was a good decision, Rancher comes with everything we need and - if we exclude the last releases (e.g. 2.7.5) - it's pretty stable too. With the fleet integration, we can pretty much deploy a new cluster with all managed services we provide we just a few clicks.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

* Releases could be a bit more stable
* Multi-tenancy in Fleet still missing

**What problems is SUSE Rancher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As said before, we need to run our cluster in an Air-Gapped environment, so "the cloud" is not a thing.
You can run Rancher completly Air-Gapped and still manage and deploy new clusters with just a few clicks. With the Fleet integration we make sure all downstream clusters come with our Managed-Services.

Rancher desktop actually helped our organisation to move from docker desktop to containerd based solution. They give better UI and faster in provisioning pods.

The best thing would be how easy it is to use it even in the web browser and simply to follow UI

Sometime, I've felt issues while doing copy paste of the content in the browser. Had to reload page.

With the Rancher tool, we had a huge gain compared to another cluster management tool we use. Some points installation is fast, constant updates and support. Follows CNCF practices.

It has helped to manage multiple kubernetes clusters across environments. With the fastest way of managing, it has reduced our time to scale, deploy applications in cluster. It is a good option to consider as an open-source tool having easy installation. Good GUI provided in addition to features and using it every day.

It is sometimes slow to load data on GUI.

Checking all namespaces and applications in one place. Developers getting a good view of the environment with less knowledge on Kubernetes because of the user-friendly interface.

- in one view, you see overview of your total platform and reduces the time for RCA
- Great people are working in this company, fulfill everything we need.
- it is easy to integerate with other tools.
- The option Time travel.

- I have not really experienced problems with the program throughout these 2 years of use.
- pricing model can be a challenge if you have a lot of CI in the landscape. -> scope is important.

**What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?**

It is a pretty solid out of the box solution for running K8s, especially in cases, where you have to run everything on prem or bare metal. A good selection of needed tools are already included and you can choose if you want to keep and use them on your own, there is no real vendor lock in.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

The Documentation is sometimes outdated or there are missing important sections, especially if you dig into technical details. The support is not as helpful as it could be - you often have to repeat the question as the supports tends to send standard answers in the first round.

**What problems is SUSE Rancher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to run on premise K8s clusters. Rancher provides a solid out of the box solution, where do not have to collect all pieces on your own. You also get a fancy GUI what saves time and opens the way for less techy colleagues.

**What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?**

It's an extensive management platform catered around managing/creating Kubernetes instances in many ways it makes life easy on what you need to do and how it possible using SUSE Rancher. Where you can add additional features to help with your day-to-day task like installing software with Helm.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

Well, it's not a downside but also not an upside depending on who views it in such a way, but it's rapidly changing at this point in time which makes it a challenge to keep up with how things change and what changes where at the start of the year we were on 2.5 then 2.6 and now 2.7 which large and small changes in-between.

**What problems is SUSE Rancher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an easy to use platform to manage and create to your heart's content with everything you need centralized in one place and if it's not there by default be reassured you can probably add it with ease.

A tool that provides state of the art observability, but what I like most about StackState is that they listen to the customer, work with the customer to make the product better. For instance, commit to feature requests like multi-tenancy, webhooks, etc.

* Extremely simple and efficient UI that helps with almost all Kubernetes cluster operations
* All different kubernetes distributions are supported and can be managed from a single pane of glass
* Rancher market place that comes with first class support for some key tools like Istio
* Continuous Delivery module that comes along in the package makes it a true value add feature

* Advanced use cases in Public Cloud platforms(AKS, AWS etc) are not fully supported even though it is getting evolved based on customer feature requests
* Multi-tenancy in Fleet still needs to mature

Suse Rancher is easy to install, easy to configure and is an open source environment. We can collaborate with Rancher. Rancher is a holistic system, and the training is open for all people. Suse allows tools to manage Kubernetes clusters in an easy mode.

I think a better user administration interface could be made, maybe with script autogeneration in visual mode.

One of the best features is the ease of installation, eg. with helm charts. Additionally the ability to spin up other environments without needing to acquire support for them to test things.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

Unable to move clusters between Rancher management instances. Sometimes the permissions can be a bit awkward or confusing (though I think this may just be true of Kubernetes in general and not specifically Rancher). The licensing can be a bit confusing re: what counts towards a node limit.

We are working on standardizing and improving the repeatability of our Application Team's build and deploy processes, and migrating off of legacy shared environments.

Being as Rancher is compatible with most CNCF-certified Kubernetes clusters, you can manage most cluster deployments in a heartbeat. Deploying a cluster is as simple as defining the roles and runinng a command at the terminal...That easy. From there, you have insight into your managed clusters.

The learning curve might be somewhat steep at the start when working wth Rancher Manager for some.

The people and willingness to work with the customer. Ability to have many options with "downstream" clusters regardless of cloud. I cannot speak in comparison against other companies, as I have not used them in the same space.

While automation works with Rancher, the support for it seems lacking. Both in paid support and in documentation. Getting help for automation always seems "extra".

In a hybrid datacenter and cloud deployment, it allows us to focus on one type of standard of Kubernetes and provide a similar experience to our Kubernetes users regardless of where they are hosted.

Rancher is multi-cluster and multi-cloud, which reinforces our independence.
Rancher facilitates perimeter management via RBAC functionalities (fine-tuned, secure management of user rights).
Rancher provides a graphical interface that simplifies the use of Kubernetes.

Rancher's lifecycle management is inadequate: for example, there's no automatic tool for migrating our clusters from RKE1 to RKE2.

We introduced Rancher to build and manage our on-premise Kubernetes environments as well as to extend them into the cloud, i.e. AWS EKS currently, Azure AKS will follow soon.

Rancher helped us a lot to hide the complexity of a Kubernetes setup and to maintain a good overview over our container landscape.

Additionally, a lot of tools can be integrated like Helm, Grafana or even AIOPs with OPNI

When extending Rancher to the cloud, we would have wished for a little more "turn-key" abilities, it is still necessary to do manual settings there to get the initial connection running.

ability to check cluster health in a few seconds. the user interface is very rich and access to all cluster components is very easy.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

Lack a backup tool for downstream clusters. Would appreciate more complete documentation on Terraform Provider and also on RKE2 cluster template.

**What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?**

There are a couple of aspects of StackState that were helpful to us. First, the ability to gain deep insights into our entire AWS/EKS stack. We were already using Dynatrace and CloudWatch but were still not getting the depth of observability we needed to ensure we maintain our SaaS solution's top service levels for customers. 

Within minutes of installing StackState, the software auto-discovered and mapped the topology of our entire IT environment – including ingesting data from Dynatrace and CloudWatch, so that we truly had a unified picture of our stack from all data sources. 

Within three hours, we discovered and successfully troubleshot two unknown performance issues in our production cluster: One in the database and one in the application layer. We could see where the bottleneck resided and was able to correct both issues in less than a day. Fixing the problems enabled us to achieve two things: (1) to cut in half the transaction times our customers experienced while using our application and (2) to reduce RDS infrastructure costs by 75%. The most important thing, however, was that our customers noticed the faster app response. When your customers notice – and comment, you know you’ve done something great for them.

FieldPulse also uses StackState in our change management process to capture before and after topology snapshots for compliance reasons.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

Like any software application you use, there are always things you want to improve. The essentials are there, but we’d like to compare more readily some of the metrics like EC2, application, and utilization of the Kubernetes layer, compare some things on the database layer and get that picture right now to check what’s going on. We can do this today, but we must go to several places.

**What problems is SUSE Rancher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest win for us is ensuring performance for our customers. We must maintain a robust, resilient, performant SaaS application within a fully cloud-native AWS/EKS environment. We have made many performance improvements quickly, and StackState has enabled us to do that.

**What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?**

It was pretty simple to set up and very easy to deploy. Very different from other container solutions. When we needed technical support, they solved our problems very quickly in a very short time. It was quite successful in our automation problems.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

In my opinion, Rancher does not increase its awareness in the market. There should be more technical documentation and technical support teams in local languages.

**What problems is SUSE Rancher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We will use it for our new server virtualization solutions. Thanks to this container structure, we have the possibility of virtualization at the application level. We no longer have to set up a server for every application request.

**What do you like best about SUSE Rancher?**

Ramcher has played a role in quickly setting up the Kubernetes cluster in a very short time. It is very versatile and helps in the movement and management of Kubernetes across multiple clouds and hyperscalers.

**What do you dislike about SUSE Rancher?**

I don't dislike it, but there are a lot of features and characteristics available which we need to look into in detail and train the SMEs on this.

**What problems is SUSE Rancher solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It seamlessly allowed us to manage the EKS and AKS without any lock-in, helping and providing us with a lot of flexibility across the entire cloud estate through a single pane of glass. It assisted in the entire lifecycle of activities overall to the highest level.
